We purchased a solar system and transfer switch to be installed in early 2021. Install of the panels went well but then when it has come to get the transfer switch installed I have had nothing but problems. I had a medical episode in late 2021 early 2022 and was not able to keep trying to get them to contact. When I finally was better enough ***** the owner just keeps blowing me off. First it was we will have to look into it and then when I sent him all the text messages screen shots from his people in December 2022 he said he was booked out month's. He said this is my fault and I have to wait. I text him again today to find out where I am on the schedule and he said he didn’t know and he is still booked out months. I said I would write a bad review and he said it didn’t matter because he is a fast growing business with great reviews and it wouldn’t help my cause. Now I am just screwed until he finally gets around to me. Just looking to get this done. Thank youBusiness Response

We tried and tried and tried contacting the customer for months in 2021 to get this scheduled and get this done and could not get ahold of him. After he contacted us again recently, we learned that he actually does want to get this done. I'e told him we are booked out a few months and will get his side project on the schedule as soon as we can, and that is still the status.Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: I have all text messages and all voicemail from early 2021. I can prove ***** never called, text or left a voicemail. I have a voicemail from *** *. one of ******* electricians on 9/3/21 @9:15am saying he just wanted to touch base and let me know the manual transfer switch is still back order and to call if I needed anything.
I also received a text from *** saying he left a voice mail.
I then left it be until Dec 15, 2021 @ 5:38 pm and because I still had not heard anything I set a text to *** asking for an eta and at this time I wanted ***** to call. I still did not hear anything so I texted ***** @ Barrett on Dec. 16,2021 @2:01 pm saying how disappointed I was and i needed ***** to call me and explain why when we were sold the system we were told only Barrett people would handle everything and we had 3rd party installers for the panels and hookup. I also wanted to know why we have been waiting to get this one transfer switch installed since at least July 19 2021.I received one text saying “***** said you could call the main line at 816-584-4758” on Dec. 16, 2021 @ 2:32 pm.
I then call the office on Dec 17 and had to leave a voicemail and have not heard back from him until I finally got a hold of ***** in Dec 2022. Unfortunately I was not able to stay on top of this due to physical therapy and numerous medical appointments. I can for certain say and be able to show I was not called and most definitely no voicemails were left from Barrett. Regards,

I went under contract with Barrett Solar the first week of July 2022 for a $68,500. solar system. At the time, the salesperson *** **** stated they would be able to have the system up and running within 30-45 days. After thirty days of no contact with Barrett I called the *** and he said they needed 60 more days, which I agreed wouldn’t be a problem. Towards the end of that time frame I was contacted by the owner saying that they had filed for permits with Kansas City and were having problems because of inaccurate parcel lines on the KC Parcel Viewer website. This 30 day delay was out of the hands of Barrett which was then fixed and permits granted. Once they received notice of obtaining permits, I received an email from ***** the owner saying they needed another three weeks while waiting for material. When I pressed them for an installation date because before going under contract with Barrett I was told by *** the salesperson that they had all the material in stock at their warehouse in Riverside. That along with the fact that in the initial proposal *** had stated that I would receive an $8,000. rebate from ******. Which when I checked with ****** they stated those rebates ran out almost two years ago and Barrett should know that. With being misled about that, time delays, them not being sure if they were providing the city with the correct information on the permit and had me verify it with the city( because the owner felt I had a better relationship with the city than he did, I wonder why?) and never answering there phone I felt I needed a solid date of installation. Once I tried to get that from *** the salesperson and ***** the owner they now refuse to respond to calls, and texts. Barrett took $6,850. as a deposit without doing any work. I guess they either do the job, issue me a full refund and/or litigate for damages. In reading other complaints about systems not working, I’m glad I’m only into Barrett Solar for $6,850. instead of $68,500.Business Response

The sales rep never told ** ******* the system would be up and running, he told ** ******* we frequently have installs in 30-45 days, which is true. Kansas City MO AHJ however is much slower of a process. We worked through this project as fast as it could possibly being done. ** ******* had an issue with his parcel of land. We even went above and beyond and spearheaded this for ** ******* and successfully got all this taken care of. We had all ** *******s material in our warehouse from the start so I was always confused why he was so up in arms about that. Barrett does not promise rebates, we do however typically handle all the paperwork. Like I mentioned we worked through this project as fast as we could, successfully had the permit, had all the materials, and had an install date. ** ******* and I worked closely and communicated together quite a lot throughout the entire project, and had what I thought to be a great relationship. So i'm very confused to him snapping on me and writing all this inaccurate stuff on our BBB page. Not sure what ** *******s deal is to be honest. After receiving inappropriate threats from ** ******* about him picketing my personal home and talking about my family having to send him a legal letter, I decided it wasn't in our best interest to even work with ** *******. We refunded his down payment and were more than happy to go our separate ways.Customer Answer

Complaint: ******** I am rejecting this response because: This is absolutely not true of how Barrett Solar handled the process. I was told the install would happen in 30 to 45 days and when I called them 30 days into it, I was told by the salesman that they needed another 60 days. After sixty days I was contacted by Barrett solar and told that they were having problems getting a permit through the city because of inaccurate parcel lines that the county had miss recorded. Barrett solar in no way helped to resolve this issue because it was something that I had to get a survey company to help with providing the county with another copy of the proper survey lines which the city had to then recognize and record on there parcel viewer website so a permit could then be issued to Barrett Solar. Furthermore I was given the permit application and asked by the owner of Barrett Solar to check with my contact at the city and ask if everything looked in order. When I asked the owner why he wanted me to do it, he stated that I seemed to have a better relationship with the person in the permitting department and if it wasn’t right the process took ten days for them to review and that would further delay the permit being issued. As far as them having all the material available, that’s another lie. Once the permit was finally issued, I was contacted by the owner and told they were waiting on material that should be in there possession with three weeks and then they would schedule an install. When I tried to contact the owner and express my dissatisfaction, he refused to contact me or return my calls. That’s when I went online and saw other bad reviews of the company with similar issues. As far as the rebate I was absolutely told they would be able to get me a rebate from ****. When I mentioned this to another company that I got a review from they suggested I check with ****. When I called **** they stated all available rebates had ran out a year and a half ago. As far as picketing there business and home, I did state that I would do that which is within my first amendment constitutional rights of freedom of assembly. I did receive a notice from the companies attorney asking me to not picket them and they would return my deposit. From reading other complaints about Barrett Solar, a common issue seemed to be that once a system was installed they didn’t work and the company would ghost the customer. This will be my final response because the owner of this company has delusions of grandeur and excepts no responsibility for misleading the customer. His responses are not her more than misrepresentations of the facts and anyone who chooses to do business with them after reading this, I wish them the best of luck.

-On September 23, 2021 I first reached out to Barrett Solar to begin the process of installing a solar system on my roof. -On Oct 5, 2021 (exactly a year ago) I signed a contract with Barrett to install a 6.29 Kw solar array on my rooftop. -From that point, we had multiple conversations both through Email and via phone to progress the process and get the appropriate permits and approvals, including me driving to city hall in St. Louis two different times to submit paperwork for the permit. -On March 1, 2022 I received my last communication from Barrett Solar, informing me that the permit had been approved by the historical department, indicating things are moving forward. -Since then I have Emailed every different email I could find from the company, I have called every number I could find for the company, and I have even left a poor review on ****** in hopes someone from the company would reach out to me. I have not received a return email nor phone call, despite the many messages sent and left with multiple employees of Barrett Solar. -As I have a signed contract with Barrett, I am completely lost on what to do, as I want Solar but I feel tied to this contract. If I reach out to another company, can Barrett still obligate me to the contract we have. - I can upload or provide all of the emails between the two of us as well, if that is helpful? But really I just don't know what to do/if I can have a solar array provided and installed by another company? Is Barrett out of business or are they going to uphold the contract? They have really delayed the project they said could be finished before the end of 2021. Now with the end of 2022 looming, nothing has been done and I am not sure what is going on with the Federal Tax incentives for 2023.Business Response

Mr ******* is right we definitely spent a lot of time getting this project through all the approval processes. There was a communication error with the project manager handling Mr. ******* solar project. I was under the understanding he had been informed about the status of his project. Definitely apologize for the communication mishap. As our business grows, hiring more help and training new talent is inevitable, and unfortunately a communication issue was made here. We have contacted Mr ******* and are doing everything we can to make this right with him and get his project to the finish line.
