Washington university's research program, for children with tourretts (LOTs study)Is telling children that they will be paid for there time in the 2 year research program. The compensation for there time, is in the form of a refillable gift card. They do not let the families or participants of the study know that you get 20 dollar on the card, but they card company takes 13 dollars in fees each month. My daughter wanted to save her research money for the duration of the two year studie. Unfortunately all her money has been chewed up by fees.

Study participants (or, in the case of minor children, their parents) are provided detailed information about any fees or restrictions on the use of the **** debit card when the card is provided to them by Study staff.  Specifically, participants are provided with the cardholder agreement, including the terms and conditions of the **** debit card usage.  Additionally, Study staff inform participants that they may contact them with any questions.  On May 1, 2024, a Clinical Research Coordinator contacted the parent who made this complaint.  At that time, she confirmed with the parent that fees were assessed on four instances in the amount of $3.00 each, totaling $12.00.  As an accommodation to parent and her child, those fees will be reimbursed to the childs Forte **** debit card.  The parent was advised of this outcome and the reimbursement request was made today.  Consequently, we would appreciate receiving the BBBs acknowledgment that this complaint has been resolved and the matter closed.

I am scheduled with Dr ****** every 6 mo. The last 4 visits the NP saw me instead. My insurance considers the NP out of network so I'm being billed $167 instead of my $40 copay. I have made MULTIPLE phone calls to BCBS and WU. DOS 8/24/20,2/23/21,8/23/21,2/14/22. The first 2 visits have been adjusted and resolved. Each time I call WU I get a different response. Today I talked to BCBS. REF# **********. They told me to tell WU to retract the claim under the NP and resubmit under Dr ******. WU said they can't do that. And now I have been turned over to a collection agency.

The Washington University cybersecurity bootcamp falsely advertise that they will get you ready for an entry level job in the field. I passed the class and attained my Sec+ certification, but have been told by businesses and IT recruiters that this is not enough education to get into the field. I cannot even get interviews for cybersecurity jobs. At first no one at the university would even call me back regarding my issues. When I was finally able to talk to someone after a couple of weeks of trying they were not willing to help at all. They told me it's my fault I can't get interviews and insisted their program is sufficient. They misrepresented their program, then lied to me about it and told me to go away. I feel that they stole $13,000.00 from me. These programs are worthless and they are going to continue ripping people off unless someone says something.

On September 6, 2021, Washington University responded to a prior complaint Mr. **** submitted directly to it on August 30, 2021.   Despite Mr. ****’s claims, his experience is unique from multiple other program participants who have completed the same program and who have been successful in finding entry-level employment in the cybersecurity field.  While private companies do not always require training or certification, or commit to any specific entry-level qualification, the federal government does.  The Sec+ certification Mr. **** obtained makes him eligible to enter any one of three federal entry-level job classifications established with the Department of Defense.  Mr. ****, like all other program participants, had access to the Trilogy Education Career Services team, which offers assistance with resume writing and interviewing, throughout the six-month boot camp and for ninety days following his March 2021 graduation.  As a graduate, Mr. **** has continued access to Trilogy Education Career Services support through workshops, alumni events, and job fairs.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I have not received any real follow up from the university about the complaint I submitted. All I was told was that it's my fault I'm unable to find a job. If others have had success why can I not get any help? You get 90 days of career help, but I wasn't even ready to take the certification test within that time frame. How does that help? Maybe you can give me some information on being the only one in this situation. I know of at least two others from my class who cannot find cybersecurity work either due to lack of education. You essentially stole 13,000.00 from me. I had leave the helpdesk position I had because I couldn't wait any longer to make the kind of money touted in the slides shown in class and as described by our instructor. You leave people with no recourse or option for help after the program is over. All I heard at the beginning was how Wash U would be there to help me and I would be part of the Wash U family, but you don't want to help. At this point I regret ever seeing the online ad. This university like everyone else is more concerned with greed than helping people. I will tell anyone I know interested in your bootcamps or proper classes to stay far away from the thieves at Wash U.

      Sincerely,

      ***** ****
