I had surgery last August and the Doctors, and medical staff were amazing. However, the billing department *****!!! Their communication is the worst ever and I have tried to solve an issue with my bill. I have called my insurance company and they are giving me the right amount that I owe, while St. Vincent's is not giving me the right statement. They have not contacted me at all, while they expect me to call back every ten days for a request. I am livid and I recently received a letter from a debt collector saying that St. Vincent has sent over my bill to them. I literally do not know what else to do. I am not paying anything until St. Vincent's gets my statement correct. I hate their billing company. I will never give St. Vincent another service again!

Title: Ongoing Billing Incompetence and Aggressive Collections Despite Willingness to Pay Review: I am extremely disappointed with the billing department at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. I have been trying to resolve a $500 bill that was sent to collections before the billing due date. I contacted their billing department in April and was promised that the account would be pulled from collections and a $50/month payment plan would be set up. Despite giving them ample time and following up multiple times, I never received confirmation or further communication. Instead, I’ve been harassed by the collection agency (Frost-Arnette), who text constantly. This isn’t the first issue I’ve had—previously, the hospital incorrectly sent my Workman’s Comp case to collections as well, causing unnecessary stress and confusion. Even their billing portal shows I owe nothing, making it impossible to pay the bill online. I’ve spoken to multiple people, including one who hung up on me. I later received an email from a hospital employee saying my issue had been forwarded to the appropriate parties, but again, no one followed up. All I’ve asked for is a simple $50/month plan to pay this off directly with the hospital. Their internal disorganization, lack of follow-through, and failure to communicate have made this a nightmare. This is unacceptable behavior for a healthcare provider. I’ve had to document everything and prepare formal complaints to regulatory agencies just to be treated fairly.

Be aware of going to any Ascension Medical group. As many have stated below me, their billing department is utterly incompetent and you will end up double-paying your bills. If you can avoid this medical group, please do. If you cannot avoid it, save all of your bills as well as credit card statements showing bills have been paid. I would rate this company as F-.

The Billing department is terrible. I sent a payment in on April 7, 2025, my payment cleared the bank on April 11, 2025 and as of today, April 25, 2025 my portal and the call in number still say I have an outstanding balance of the amount that I owed. Systems must not talk to systems. I have submitted my proof of payment and they still are not clearing my account. Said it would take 7-10 business days. Not acceptable. You have my proof of payment. I give the Billing department an F minus. And the St. T, Rutherford location has a cashier that is as nice as they come but won't let her help folks with outstanding balances. They send everyone to the 800 hole. The care I received in the ER in January was top notch by the medical staff.

My father was admitted to Saint Thomas West hospital on February 7 2025. He was released on February 14 2025. Against my wishes and because of this it resulted in his death on February 16 2024. 36 hours after his release from Saint Thomas west hospital. He could not stand or walk or drink or eat. Dr. ****** loaded him up with four bags of potassium hydrochloride and released him from the hospital. He was unable to drink and flush the potassium from his bloodstream which resulted in a ST elevated myocardial infarction per Vanderbilt ICU department. I have every intention on suing and I want the doctor terminated and prosecuted for malpractice and wrongful death. Dr. RAYGON AT one point had loaded my father up on hydroform and caused a overdose that required the use of Narcan and assistance from the response team

I am writing about the billing department. I have had to fight with their billing department on so many bills over the years. They have billed me for things that they haven't even put through insurance. They have tried to bill me for the free Medicare check up for months until it was finally cleared up. There hasn't been one person I've talked to that deals with Ascension Borgess that hasn't had problems with billing. Some of these people have now switched to ******* Hospital because there are no problems with them. Even the professionals that work for them have had problems with the billing department.

Worst NP ever. Allowed my husband to vomit for 2 hours while prescribing medication they knew didn't work. Finally, said I would take him to the ER in the same hospital to show others their lack of knowledge and empathy for the ill. Think they're a hematologist. Denied my husband Vit K for factor 7 blood disorder while an inpatient room 412 sacred heart hospital for 4 days. Was totally wrong in their explanation of the blood disorder to Alexis, the 4 East room 412 nurse on Nov. 2nd. Nurse Alexis tried to school us on Factor 7, but was completely backwards in her reasoning. Next time Google it for yourself. NP Chanci A. Mascelli works at night so she doesn't have to see the carnage, suffering, and pain they create. Incompetent, shouldn't have a nursing license. Works during the day at Panhandle Vascular on Creighton Rd for Dr. Roland and Dr. Watkins at Sacred Heart Hematology/Oncology while ignoring and experimenting on Sacred Heart Hospital patients at night. Performs unnecessary lab tests at your expense. Should sue. Another reason to avoid Ascension Sacred Heart. Going to the 4th floor at Sacred Heart is the same as going to die at Select Specialty Hospital, except they don't rob your room or try to steal your car at Select Specialty Hospital-they just drug you up, so you don't complain.

Please beware if you use this surgery center. I had surgery at the Franklin Surgery Center in Franklin TN on July 22, 2024. On the day of surgery they collected $1228 up front before admitting me for the procedure. I was told in advance this represented my deductible/co-pay as shown by my health insurance. Two weeks after the surgery I went online to examine my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) which showed my co-pay as 547.15. I left several messages at the surgery center but never received a call back. 4 weeks after surgery I walked into the surgery center and they told me all the billing in done in Dallas Texas. They verified that I indeed was due a refund of $680.85 and that I should receive it within 6 weeks. It is now 12 weeks after surgery and they have still not sent a check. I have stopped over at the surgery center 2 more times and get the same story, the check is in the mail...but no check. The last person I spoke to promised to get the check sent to the surgery center overnight and offered to mail it to me...not overnight it. I offered to pick up the check and I hope that this will actually happen over the next week. Either way, collecting over 200% of what was needed and then holding the money for 3 months before returning it to the patient is a scam. I have been unable to use it to pay all the other providers that performed services for me during the surgery like the doctor and anesthesiologist. I have no complaints on the medical services or care I received at the surgery center but the practice of over-collecting up front payment should be done with more accuracy and with a sensitivity to the patients funds. In addition, better access to the billing center should be provided at the time collection is made so that patients can reach the billing office to resolve any over payments in a timely manner.

Billing: Billed my Vision Insurance for a Medical surgery showing I owed $103K plus $7k in Anesthesia billing (different company but also charged my vision insurance). How they got my vision insurance is a mystery since when I arrived at ER on 1/18/24 I presented them with my medical insurance card and info. I have been waiting for a rebill since my 2/14 surgery and find out that when they rebilled in early July, someone or persons in billing correlated my provider NPI numbers with my health insurance and now I can't get paid by BCN insurance for over three months now because they say I am out of network and that my group (mental health LLC) is affiliated with St. John Providence. They also billed twice for the 2/14 surgery and anesthesia and rebilled only half $54K of what the claims state. So was my surgery $103K or was if $54K? I have EOBs from March 2024 showing that my Vision BCN was billed and not my medical BCN. What kind of place doesn't know how to do their medical billing and who is working there that can just look up my information as a provider for BCN and not understand that this has nothing to do with my personal medical insurance? I am still battling with BCN as a provider to get paid. I have contacted the St. John liaison and filed a grievance and am still awaiting an answer for all this. I will be seeking civil damage remedies if not corrected.
