On September 21, 2023, I contacted Anytime Fitness in West Plains, Missouri, to see about turning off the auto renew on my account. The account is supposed to renew in November. I received a response later that day on September 21, 2023, that I only had two options for my account. I could have my account transferred to a location near my new location or I could send a Certified Letter asking that they turn the auto renew off. I received this response from the General Manager ***** *******. There is no way to turn the auto renew off through my account. I have to go through the gym. The only way to turn it off is by spending my own money to send a Certified Letter to them asking that they turn my account off. I have looked in my contract given to me by Anytime Fitness and it doesn’t not state that I have to send in a Certified Letter. Please help!

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention.

All of our members at Anytime Fitness need to mail a copy of a proof of move to our club, as per the members agreement. Since the member did not make it known that she would be moving, I have provided the member with the 2 options that would suite them the best.

    Thank you.

I joined Anytime Fitness in West Plains over a few years ago. I paid cash upfront for the entire duration of my membership. Less than a year into my membership, I went in with a note from my cardiologist to terminate the contract because I was having heart complications. Instead of canceling the contract, they put it on a hold. That was more than a year ago. I had a stroke in July of 2021 and my mother went in to see what I had to do in order to get this contract terminated and the money I paid upfront refunded since I didn’t use hardly any of the membership. My entire left side has been compromised and so the membership is not something I wish to continue in any way. We were given a card with an email of someone who could help. I, myself have emailed several times, as well as my mother. She has even called corporate numerous times since she is able to speak clearer than I can at this time. No one has answered our numerous attempts to contact someone regarding this issue.

I joined the gym 9/3/22. I quickly found out that I have silver sneaker coverage and they will pay for gym membership. I went back in the gym in September and told them and gave them my information. They said no problem they will set it up. This has not happened. They have taken money out of my account every month ever since. I went in the gym last month and filled out another form to have them stop charging me. It is still an ongoing problem. I am not getting anywhere with them. I have asked to cancel the membership and they say they have to get it to the right person.

I was able to get my bank to reverse some charges and stop any further charges to my account.
