I took my car to this body shop that my insurance company referred me to. After leaving my car on March 21st 2024 at this shop they told me that it would be repaired on or by April 19th 2024. April 19th came and went. Thursday May 2nd I had to reach out to them to see if my car was completed they told me that it was completed but as they were about to take it down the line to be washed it wouldnt crank. I asked them what was wrong they then told me that it may be the battery. I told them that I recently got a brand new battery put on my car. So I went picked the battery up and had it replaced with another brand new battery because it was under warranty. They got the battery from me then took 3 hours to contact me saying they had put the battery on. I told them since they had took so long that I was at work and they were about to close that I'd pick my car up on Monday. Got to the shop on Monday and paid as we were leaving the parking lot and got into the turning lane the car shut off and would not start up. ***** came out and stated it might be the battery, well the battery was new because I had just replaced it. Then he went on to say it could be the fuel pump. My car had gas in it before I left it and now it doesnt. Since we were in the middle of the street the police came and pushed the car out of the street and dented the back near the Equinox sign and left a long scratch on the back. The body shop packed up and went home not caring that my car was in the middle of the street or that they had my vehicle in their possession and now it isnt functioning properly. After the tow service arrived they tried cranking it and the car started smoking. This has been a horrible experience. I dont advice anyone to take their vehicle to this place. Then for them to act like something was already wrong with my car when they know perfectly well there wasnt. Im upset and this isnt right. I paid my deductible but my insurance company paid this company and theyve messed my car up.Business response

Vehicle came in with two separate claims on it one on the left rear and one on the rear of the vehicle customer had been updated during the repairs and advised that the attempt to repair the door was unsuccessful and it was required to replace during the repair process the battery had lost ability to hold a charge and the customer was called and advised of the situation and that we were unable to move the vehicle due to this, the customer stated that the battery was under warranty and would come grab it and bring us back a new one. Once this was completed we were able move the car into clean up and process the final stages of the repair and qc process this was completed in the afternoon and the customer was unable to pick up until Monday at which time they did come in and pick up the vehicle which started and ran fine. The vehicle had less than an 1/8 of a tank of gas at the time it was brought in for the repairs. (see photo attached) Customer advised that they had called AAA to get the vehicle towed to a mechanic as Desoto Collision did not do any repairs in the area of the engine or front end of the automobile. The Southaven *********** came and pushed the vehicle out of the turn lane it was in and damaged the vehicle where the repairs were completed.
