My house flooded (clog in the sewer system) February 12, 2022. I called a repairman to resolve the clog issue, which is now fixed. I called Dayspring Restoration (DSR) to dry out the family room, utility room, bathroom, kitchen, and crawl space. I filed a claim with Hartford (HO replacement cost insurance policy). Hartford determined that DSR could act as the claims adjuster. Once DSR completed the remediation process, I agreed to have them restore the house to a living condition. During 2022, DSR showed up several times to make minor progress. **** **** of DSR arrived several times to show me product options, which were the least expensive options available. 2022 Winter, I requested they restore heat they had shut off, and I was ignored. My 93-year-old mother and I endured many cold nights and days until they finally restored the heat. Spring 2023, I had Mr. **** meet with me. He admitted that he had underbid the project and had no way of being accountable for his error. I asked him to go back and request more money from the insurance company. He told me that he had not taken any pictures to back up the claims and could not secure more money from the insurance company. The insurance company has provided me with a docket of payments paid out to DSR. There is approximately $30,000 that can not be accounted for. When I call DSR, they inform me that they have returned the money to ********. When I contact Hartford, they tell me that they have never received any money from DSR. When I request a copy of the cashed check to ******** from DSR, DSR ignores me and never provides verification of payment to ********. Winter 2024, I still do not have a finished utility room, family room or second bathroom and I have no kitchen. I am 74 years old and am at a loss as what to do.

    Dear ********,
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with Dayspring Restoration did not meet your expectations. We understand how challenging this process has been, especially given the circumstances of the flooding in your home and the time that has passed since the original incident.
Upon reviewing the records associated with both of your claims, we can confirm that there are detailed mitigation paperwork and a signed contract of services (COS) for your second project (******E). For the first project (******E), we have all necessary documentation except for the signed COS. However, we do have copies of the Hartford checks for mitigation work and contents, along with a check from you for the abatement work. Following completion of the mitigation process, we provided repair estimates for both projects (******R in February 2023 and ******R2 in August 2023). We understand that there were ongoing discussions between you and our team, but unfortunately, these conversations did not lead to an agreement on how to proceed with the restoration.
It's important to clarify that, at your request, we did stop working on the project, and as a result, we revised the scope of work and issued a refund of $4,540.02 to account for the reduced scope. Following this, we did not engage in further work on your property, as you instructed us to leave and not return.
Regarding the $30,000 you mentioned, we do not have any record of such an amount being unaccounted for in our system, and we have not received confirmation from Hartford regarding the return of funds. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this matter in more detail and thoroughly review any accounting discrepancies that may have occurred.
In addition, it appears that there may have been some confusion around subsequent efforts to complete your project. We did make attempts to revisit the job with your grandson to find a resolution, but no further steps were taken to continue the work with Dayspring Restoration. We are aware that one of our former employees may have been in contact with you separately to assist with the project as a private contractor, but this was not in any capacity related to Dayspring Restoration.
We truly regret the difficulties you've experienced and want to emphasize that we always strive to operate with transparency and fairness. We would welcome the opportunity to revisit your case and resolve any remaining issues that may still be pending. Please feel free to contact us directly, and we will do everything we can to address your concerns.

Over priced by far. Three day to clean up a mold issue in our crawl space, a leak that took months for us to notice it. So the mold was well established. 3 days in not enough time to mitigate that issue according to the research and advise of another company. Took 6 months to get our contents back. Most of which was deemed contaminated anyhow. Still ongoing mold issue now! And the bill was outrageous over ********* to complete the process. If they did any exceptional job and had good customer service I would say yes! But they are definitely raking customers over the coals. And now forced to do it all over!

Run don't walk away from this company they are total scam artists. They charged me close to ***** for fans that were running in my house, that I was not even aware of as I was out of town and had house sitters. I had them and another company give me quotes for the water leak repair we had. I did not use them as my house sitters informed me, they seemed very shoddy and didnt know what they were doing compared to the first company. Their estimate was thousands more than the two companies I ended up using. Then I got a bill months later for close to ***** for fans that they had running in the house for four days. I saw another review on their website with the exact same thing happening. They came and left fans on while getting a quote together and then charged that customer a huge amount as well.

I had a line break under the kitchen sink and floor the kitchen and the basement; I called Dayspring Restoration and the process was fairly easy, they answered the phone immediately, took my information and showed up about 5 hours later...so far all good. The Technicians that came to the house were good and I was very pleased. Now their management comes into the picture, which was unfortunate. Their Mitigation supervisor was relatively new in the role and he continually would push our project off until I would contact him, he would then promise they would be there tomorrow "around this time", but the next day nobody would show and when I contacted him he would say "I had to send them to another job". After about five instances of this, I called him and told him that i knew that emergencies happen and schedules needed to change, but I was staying home so I could let the techs in and this was almost a week into it and nothing! My message was clear; just let me know. To the end of the project, which was long and protracted - he never learn to notify me. In addition to lack of scheduling accuracy or communication, the were not very accurate on scope of mitigation. They informed me that they would need to take all the kitchen cabinets out to check for damage, as well as all the paneling in a downstairs bedroom...they showed up to tear out the aforementioned cabinets and I asked them to access it from the back of the dishwasher or cut out the back of the cabinet under the sink and when they removed the hardwood kitchen floor they discovered there was a lip that didn't allow water intrusion - they would have tore out everything in the kitchen. On the basement bedroom paneling - I asked why they would just not access it from the other side of the way and we could sheetrock it after, instead of all the walls in the bedroom, they subsequently used a monitor and stuck it through the wall to verify it was dry. I can't say they did this to inflate their bill? Beware!

*********************** is extremely unprofessional and unkind - she made a mistake in contacting me and then acted like she was the one who was being harassed.

Similar to other responses. We have adequate insurance coverage for the repairs. Charges were excessive per the insurance rep. ********* paid an initial amount but Dayspring then refused to talk to the insurance rep about the charges. Multiple emails were sent and attempts to contact Dayspring by the insurance ******** were threatened with a lien when we contacted them after receiving the first ****. Our insurance states they are willing to pay but want clarification on some of the charges. Characterize Dayspring as customer friendly to get in your door but unprofessional in billing and unresponsive after they leave. Excessive charges were obvious to us the homeowner. Please don't call Dayspring for mitigation/restoration services. We just received notice of a lien filing.

I'm unable to locate this customer by name in our system, would it be possible to get more information? Perhaps an address, or was the job billed under a different name?
