On April 4, 2024, I utilized LendingTree, LLC website to check prospective lenders for a loan I was inquiring. Throughout the entire process, I my personal information under the belief as stated on their website, "does not affect credit score". This was only to see what lenders and offers were available to me should I choose to decide upon any - which I did not click on "ANY".Moments later, I received an email from AVANT.COM stating they could not offer me a loan. (That is good because I NEVER selected ANY of the listings from LendingTree, LLC.)The email states multiple things of concern : "Though you may see an inquiry on your credit report, it cannot be seen by third parties and won't affect your credit score." Followed by, "We assure you, the inquiry did not affect your credit score." Lastly stating (paraphrased), "that (AVANT.COM) obtained my credit score from TransUnion and should I have any questions, to contact TransUnion. My problem is this. How can LendingTree, LLC allow my information to be shared with AVANT.COM when I didn't even see the listing for their financial institution on the list? Based on my settings, it was Reliance and ***************** (OMF) - to which OMF, I am still dealing with them.I believe that LendingTree, LLC should be penalized for the way they market things such as "won't hurt your credit score" when in fact, it does. This is evident because I had tried this once before and the same thing happened; yet, it was with *****************. To which, I never actually applied. I just wanted to see the "options of lenders, rates, etc.," as also stated on LendingTree, LLC's website. Now, I have been battling with ALL 3 CREDIT BUREAUS trying to remove this OMF listing off of my credit because, YES it DOES affect my credit.PLEASE GET THIS STYLE OF BUSINESS STOPPED ! ! ! ! ! !Business response

I am rejecting this response because this was only to be a "soft pull" credit based off the ones that I CHOSE, and NOT unselected ones through LendingTree, LLC. Again, this company (Avant) received my information, AND without my consent pulled my credit. This violates my credit worthiness as it reduces my credit score (over 30 points) from where is was, prior to their reception.
Truly, this places the blame, if you will, more on Avant than LendingTree, LLC, because they (Avant) performed an act for which they were not called upon nor directly requested to do. However, I place the blame to that of LendingTree, LLC, because they have facilitated this behavior not once, but on numerous other times. (This also happened to me from which ***************** performed similar and without my approval as they, too, were not selected. Even to this day, I still have OMF on my credit report -- for 1 more year, as well as, other forms of communication being solicited to me from OMF -- even AFTER written and verbal warnings of prosecution would be merited.
In summary, I am happy in the sense that LendingTree, LLC, contacted me. However, that being said, my overall experience with them is minimal because I am certain they will continue allowing these things to happen. I say this because I've complained about it before and nothing has really changed.
Thank you
Best regards,

I saw an ad from LendingTree on msn.com, where it said that they could find me a home equity loan at the same rate as my current mortgate. My current rate is < 3%, so I thought it sounded very good. I clicked on it, and they required ALL my information (name, address, email address, phone, etc.) before showing me the rates. They were between 7 and 9%, which is 3x what I pay now. Therefore I believe it is false advertising, and they should be forced to stop.Once I saw the rates, I used "Contact Us" to complain, and told them that I do NOT want to get any communication from them or their partners. However, the texts, phone calls, and emails immediately started. I am on the Do Not Call list, and I want nothing to do with them, but I don't know how to stop it.Please make them stop their deceptive practices. This should not even be legal. Thanks,******Business response

3/12/24 I found the LendingTree website that advertised you could get free access to the latest news in the mortgage industry from interest rate and APRs. I was interested in that. I put in my email (REQUIRED) and phone number (required) in order to access and see these rates in one place. As soon as I hit submit I started receiving numerous harassing calls, that first night at least 30 within a 2 hours time span. Today is 3/18, since that night I have blocked over 40 different numbers, some just call right back from a number one digit different. These calls start at 7:00am and go past 10pm at night. I have blocked the numbers and not answered, I have typed STOP on the text messages and they still come. I am considering changing my number, its such a huge inconvenience though. This is such SHADY and BAD BUSINESS Practice. I will NEVER use or recommend them. I will post to all I know not to use this business, not to enter any information because it results in harassing relentless calls all day.Business response

My credit score is ****** and above. Agent told me we will honor this letter and later some body called me from their office and told me 6 percent rate of interest. The letter I got is misleading and when they cannot honor the letter terms why they pulled my credit and wasted my time.I request them to honor the letter and refinance my car loan.Business response

LendingTree willingly violates the CAN-SPAM act by ignoring unsubscribe messages. I investigated a personal loan from them, and ultimately did not use any of their options. Since then, I receive any where between 6-25 emails per day as well as 1-2 calls from them. I have unsubscribed over 2 dozen times, and the emails continue. I have reached out to tell them they have violated the CAN-SPAM act and that if they do not remove me from their marketing list, I will be submitting a formal complaint to the *** and seeking a lawyer to file a harassment lawsuit.Business response
