I was IVC, but accepted and wanted help. All I got was complete and utter fear and survival mode kicked in. I did not sleep, I was afraid for my life every night with crazy stuff going on outside my room. I had baked men pulled out of my room after I screamed enough. Everyone had a different problem or issue for why they were there so there was no way to “take care of us”. 1 bathroom from 8am-8pm for 24 of us to use. And it was locked. And if we asked for it to be unlocked we were a burden. Same with the phone and laundry. All of us (24) stuck in a room with 18 chairs for the entire day. Watching mindless tv with no other activities. Except for maybe an hour where everyone yelled at the “care givers” how bad we were treated. I didn’t have underwear or lady feminine products for 3 days. After asking and acting like I was a burden and they’d “get back to me”. Which they would, at staff change, by ignoring me. I need therapy (that they pretend to provide “after care”) after this experience.

I was sexually assaulted as well as verbally abused while there for 5 days. I came out re traumatized and past ptsd brought back. I can’t believe this place is allowed to stay open. Shocking. How many patients complaints does it take to change? I’ve never felt so unsafe in my life. They lock you in with men who are not controlled and they turn a blind eye when men and women alike are getting abused by patients. And the staff minus two nurses were trash. Do you even train them? And because of the reason the patients are there it’s like no one believes them when they feel unsafe. I was too afraid to open my mouth while in there because I didn’t want any revenge coming back on me before I got out of there.

0 stars. ZERO. I agree with each and every comment below. As a single mother, I was desperate to help many daughter with her suicidal thoughts, and her therapist recommended we go to ********* for assessment. They involuntarily committed to Holly Hill after an eval, and told us this was our only choice ( with an open bed). She was there for a week... did not get sleep ( as a survivor of severe trauma, she had to tolerate a roommate that masturbated loudly all night long... alongside slamming doors and noises all night made by inconsiderate night staff)... had very little to do all day long ( most of her time that we are now having to pay $3000 out of pocket for was spent in a 'multipurpose room" watching random tv shows with other very unstable and unsafe individuals who needed a very diff level of care than my daughter)... and recieved minimal attention from any kind of certified staffing or doctors. I was disgusted by how she was treated, and by how this hospital runs. And then they discharge these young people, more traumatized than when they were admitted, and owing money that most will struggle to pay back--- my daughter is 19, I am her sole provider, and a public school teacher-- we have good insurance, but she still owes $3000 after BCBS paid out on the Holly Hill claim. This kind of behavior stands to ruin both the fragile mental health and the young credit history of so many 18 and 19 years olds ... unless they have parents who can undo the damage done during their stay and also pay their ridiculous hospital bills. Horrible. Do not send anyone that you love to this place to get better :(.

Worst experience ever. I was terrified by this place when I needed the most support and comfort. I also felt very unsafe: there is no security guards, a lot of people with serious mental health issues who flip out out of the blue. Staff doesn’t seem to be worried about the other patients’ safety. I got to a point I was afraid I was going to literally die or completely lose my mind. Constant praying it was what pushed me through it. 1) Dr ***** was pleasant and I enjoyed meeting with him, as he went over what causes anger, fears, etc 2) Recreational therapist is awesome. I actually was able to develop calming techniques during her group sessions which I’ve been working on them at home Now the terrifying experience begins: 3) In the South building, night shift is HORRIBLE. That includes Jonathan and his troop - the night nurse and MHT person. They are disrespectful, rude, clearly want to make you feel like a criminal (Which I’m not. I have much higher education than most of the staff - just happened to be on a mental crisis). They are sarcastic and do all they can to make your stay even more difficult and traumatic. On top of that, during the 15-min rounds at night, they slam the doors, walk with their hills up and down the hallway. Huge lack of sleep. As we all know, adequate sleep is number 1 line of treatment for mental health issues. Night shift doesn’t care at all. 4) Rooms are locked from 9-2pm. However, we all sit in the waiting area and staff who is supposed to do the group sessions are always late and we have to sit their and wait for them to decide to show up. 5) Overall: a place that could really help folks going through a mental health crisis. But to become that kinda of place, more than 80% of the staff needs to be let go. I wish upper management would pretend to be a patient and spend 24 hours there to see that all concerns on this page are actually true and happen everyday.

Do not send a loved one here especially a child. My daughter was sent there and came back worse than when she went in. she was treated disrespectfully by the techs especially ****** and ******* To the point that a internal investigation was done on them regarding my daughter which I have not heard the results of. The children there are told to sit their ass down they are humiliated, laughed at and invalidated. This place needs to be investigated And more appropriate administration be in place so that they are hiring certified mental health technicians. Not just some bums off the street looking for a paycheck doing more damage than help with these mentally fragile people...0 stars

Horrible experience. My son was admitted last Friday afternoon, was placed on a female ward, (misgendered-illegal), sat all weekend with no therapy or structure. He told me about kids fighting with other kids and staff (he told me about one employee that taunted the kid into hitting him). This is not my son’s first admission, so he most definitely has something to compare this to. Additionally, day 1 I called the listed number for the patient advocate….mailbox full! Never got ahold of any pt advocate after several attempts. It is now Monday and I told them I would be coming to pick him up, so I’m here in the waiting room awaiting them to bring my guy out. I’m livid, I just want my child! DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE.

My daughter is currently admitted to this facility and I’m extremely concerned about the level of care in which my daughter is receiving. Let’s start off with her so called “assessment,” nobody contacted us(her parents) or her school to ask about her behaviors or even if she had a history of wanting to commit suicide! Nobody contacted us(her parents) about her medical history! My daughter is hydrocephalic, has hip dysplasia, cerebral palsy in her left side, has had 8 brain surgeries all before she was 1! Yet, nobody took the time to call us to ask or better yet to ask if cognitively she is capable of understanding anything that people are saying! All that has been done is that her therapist called was extremely rude by asking me questions but wanted to continue to talk over top of me! Didn’t take the time to actually care about anything that I said in regards to his so called patient! Just wanted to tell me about getting disability for my daughter and that he would find a group home for my daughter due to triggers at home! No explanation, no care just flat out made up his mind about us parents without taking any time to find out her history! Has yet to contact my daughters school counselor! Evaluation and assessment by far are the same thing! Fortunately for me I know what good therapy is like and what my daughter is currently receiving is definitely not it! Any evaluation takes 4hrs along with parental input and school input! Instead she is diagnosed with depression and anxiety and given medication that so far she’s allergic too but yet they still give it to her! The kicker is my daughter is involuntary admitted and 18yrs old! Has an IEP and here we are! It’s sad really because if she could just be tested we would know mentally what is wrong! She deserves that! Seeing that her dad and I both have ADHD and it’s genetic! How would anyone know if she isn’t tested! Is rudeness acceptable at this facility? Why didn’t anyone contact me when my daughter got injured?
