I booked these movers and paid a deposit of more than $400. They confirmed my move via email the day before. The day of the move, no one shows up, no one at the company contacts me, no one answers the phone, no one answers my voicemails. This company is a fraud.

My family and I moved from Erie Co to Lexington Va at the end of July 2021. I did weeks of research to find a cross country moving company trying to avoid the dreaded moving nightmare that you read about all over the internet. After talking to numerous companies and getting several quotes, we decided to go with Midwest Moving Co. I spoke to the rep Patrick several times and he assured me that everything would go smoothly. We set up a moving date 1 day before our closing. This seemed a little too close to closing date but he assured me the movers would be there at 8 am and everything would be done in plenty of time for us to clean etc. Two days before moving day I called Patrick to make sure everything was still on schedule as the truck was driving out from Charlotte NC to pick up the load. Again he reassured me that everything was all set up and the truck would be there at 8 am. On moving day, Sunday July 25, the local movers from the company showed up a little before 8. I wasn’t too concerned that the truck wasn’t on time as it’s hard to coordinate exact time, driving across country, but two hours later, the truck still wasn’t there, nobody at Midwest Moving would answer their phone (or they were closed) and the truck did not show up, at all. The local guys finally told us they got word that the truck was still 12-14 hours away! So the local guys had to put everything back in the garage before they left with the plan to come back the next day. I couldn’t get anyone on the phone until the next morning and that person was clueless as to what I was talking about. She put me in touch with Dylan who explained that Patrick, the rep, had been fired and that our move, basically, slipped through the cracks. “Sorry for the inconvenience” was about all he had to say other than the truck would be there at !0 am on our CLOSING DAY and he would get some extra help to make it go faster. “Sorry for the inconvenience “ doesn’t quite cut it when you have 2 hours to move and the new owners are there breathing down your neck as you’re trying to clean and get everything out of there. I told Dylan this was way beyond an inconvenience and that he needed to knock a thousand or 2 off the bill. All he would take off was $400. Total bill was around $9100. So now we hit the road to Virginia, with the plan to meet the movers at a storage facility where we’re going to store our stuff till we find a house. Easy move for them, right? They just pull up and unload into a storage unit. Easy. We arrange to meet the driver at 10 am. We get there at 10 and the truck is there but no other movers. The driver says he doesn’t think they’re going to show up. Dylan says the other movers got in an accident on the way there and are on their way to the hospital. Yeah, right. So the driver, and my wife and me, we’re both 65, start unloading the truck into the storage unit. It’s about 90 degrees and humid, we don’t have enough water and frankly, the reason we hired movers is because we didn’t want to lift the heavy stuff ourselves and risk getting hurt! And then Dylan calls and says that he has instructed the driver not to unload ANYTHING until we pay him in full! UNBELIEVABLE!! I tell him there’s no way that I’m paying him before we’re done and that it’s ironic that HE doesn’t trust US. HIS company is the one that didn’t show up on time for the load out and is missing in action on the delivery and he has the audacity to not trust ME! So I don’t pay him anything, nobody else shows up, we have to leave to take our UHaul trailer back and we’ve about got heat stroke. We leave the poor driver there to keep unloading by himself, until we get back and when we get back he has it packed to the ceiling. When we get it all done Dylan is willing to give me $471 off and I’m so exhausted and beat down by the whole thing, I just want it over. Unfortunately , as we discover in the weeks following as we access the unit to retrieve certain things, things were packed horribly, thrown in there, lots of stuff damaged, broken. See pictures. In short Midwest Moving was HORRIBLE!! And to make it worse, they didn’t want to take any responsibility for their mistakes. We ended up paying over $8300 for them to move us and we ended up doing a lot of the labor ourselves! Just a terrible experience. It is now, almost 2+months later, that I can finally bring myself to sit down and write this review.
