I had a similar experience as some others. I won an auction and a couple hours later got a call that the item actually sold to an onsite bidder for significantly higher than what I won it for. Extremely unprofessional and infuriating. Will never use HiBid online auctions again.

HiBid.com is like the Wild West with even less accountability. Many auction houses post purposely misleading, broken and outright counterfeit items. Not only does HiBids not hold them accountable but as a buyer you can not leave reviews, reporting them to HiBids does nothing because their customer service is equally distasteful and malcontent. Seller's not only can get away with fraudulent practices, they leave little to no descriptions, put as is, mislabel and mislead, shill bid and price gouge shipping. To top all of this off Seller's can leave reviews on buyers that only sellers can see, and they can do it anonymously, so not only can they leave bad reviews about buyers for any reason under the sun, but a buyer can be shut down from bidding- unable to know what, why, from whom, contest or defend themselves, unable to receive refunds, absolutely nothing. HiBids customer service response is the same, "there's nothing you can do, back track all of your auctions you've bid on and speak to each one individually and see if they will admit to a negative review and change it otherwise make a new account with a different email address". It baffles me how a site like this not most of its shady auctioneers aren't neck deep in legal issues. The whole structure in place is completely one sided on purpose and HiBids is content with it as long as they get their cut of the profit because they knowingly exploit all of the legal loopholes and don't even deny it when you eventually speak to one of their representatives. I highly recommend avoiding this site thoroughly or limit yourself to local in state auctioneers that you can inspect for yourself in person assuming they let you, alot of the deceitful auctioneers are catching on and making bidding online only with no in person inspections, pickups or payments all under the guise of "COVID Safety". Tread very carefully for the sake of being scammed and retaliated against.

Allowes shill bidding and does not honor winning bids. Also allows a scoring system in which you have no control or even the ability to review.

Asked HiBid customer service directly if they do anything to vet their sellers, such as requiring them to be legit licensed auctioneers in their respective state. The answer was "HiBid does not require sellers to have a license, but we do always urge people to check with their state auctioneer's association in case they have other guidelines to follow."

I have bought on the site several times, received the items and had no issue, but when I saw a higher $ item from an auctioneer that had no sales history on the site, and I couldn't find anything about them anywhere online outside of HiBid, I got suspicious and asked HiBid what their vetting process was for sellers...that was the reply I received.

*************************************************************** *************************************************************** ******** So do your best due diligence about the seller / auction house before you bid on something, because HiBid is not doing it for you nor will they help you if you get deceived, they are just a platform.

********************* HiBid described WWII artifacts and what I received was 2 cheap pieces of plastic from a gumball machine. I have tried to call and no one answers and their voicemail Box is full so I cannot leave a message and I have sent emails and have gotten no response. I know from a prior experience that high bid will do nothing to remedy the problem.

I could type out my whole story, but why when "Heather D" already summed up my exact scenario. I win the item, buy several more based on the assumption that I'm going to drive 9 hours round trip and then find out the auctioneer canceled the auction after it closed. They did offer to sell it to me for double my "winning bid". I'm just glad the rest of the world doesn't work that way. Imagine if your mechanic called you a week later and decided they wanted more money.

This site could really work but instead it favors the cheating auction houses and punishes those bidding. It allows auctioneers to go in and see what the bidders max bid is and drive the auction up to their max bid or enter bids after the auctions close and the bidders were shown online they won till they look later and see that they no longer did. This site allows auction houses to RATE CUSTOMERS and kick them from bidding but DOES NOT allow customer the return to rate the auction houses so customers would know which ones really are cheaters. Hi Bid protects those cheaters and punishes the customers instead. Changes need to be made, if an Auction house can rate customers then the customers should be able to rate them also, maybe that would force them to be more honest and stop cheating the customers. This is why HiBid has such low ratings among consumers.

**************************************** They do not check to see if the auction is run by a legitimate company. ************ pretend to be a legitimate auction, you bid you win, you pay. But you never receive the product. Hibid takes no responsibility for any money you have lost. They allow anyone to go on their site without checking them out..beware of hibid auctions
