I have an account for half a year, have a total amount of money $2000+ spent on Hibid. No issues with the sellers. But last week my card was declined, today my account suspended.Business Response

HiBid is a marketplace platform that provides listing and bidding software to independently operated auction companies. Each auctioneer using HiBid maintains full control over their individual sales, including bidder approvals, declines, and payment requirements.
While we understand the concern, it’s important to note that if a credit card on file is declined—especially during or after a sale—the auctioneer has the right to restrict access to their future auctions. HiBid does not override these decisions, nor do we directly suspend bidder accounts from individual auction sales.
If you believe this was done in error or would like to participate in that auctioneer’s future sales, we recommend reaching out to the auction company directly to discuss reinstatement.

Purchased items from ****** ********* a business hibid stands behind in their business. ****** ********* Is selling forged autographs. They claim it’s with COA but the COA only states it’s live ink not that it was actually signed by the actors. The supposed autographs do not coincide with other autograph examples. ****** ********* Will not return messages, when contacted hibid they said it’s their own business & they have nothing to do with sales even though they get their fees & percentages from the items being sold by companies. When talked to person today they was very passive & just wanted to tell me it’s up to seller & they (hibid) wasn’t doing anything.Business Response

Thank you for your message. We understand your concerns regarding the authenticity of autographed items purchased from ****** ********* and appreciate the opportunity to clarify HiBid’s role in the auction process.
HiBid is a software platform used by independently owned and operated auction companies to host online auctions. We do not own or manage the inventory listed, collect payments, or verify product claims made by sellers. All representations, including certificate of authenticity (COA) details, are provided directly by the auctioneer—in this case, ****** **********
While we understand the frustration when an auctioneer does not respond to post-sale concerns, HiBid is not authorized to intervene in disputes, issue refunds, or make judgments regarding item authenticity. We do, however, keep a record of complaints and monitor auction companies for patterns of behavior that may warrant further internal review.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. HiBid is the online software platform used by independent auction companies to list and conduct their auctions. While we host the bidding interface, we are not involved in the auction process itself, and we do not manage or oversee auctioneer decisions related to bidder approval, shipping requirements, or communication.
Each auctioneer sets their own terms and conditions and has the discretion to approve or decline bidder participation based on those terms. We understand your frustration, especially if you made efforts to arrange shipping and provided documentation. However, decisions related to bidder eligibility and logistics are entirely at the discretion of the auctioneer—in this case, ******* *********
We recommend continuing to reach out to the auctioneer directly to clarify their shipping requirements and to try to resolve any misunderstandings.
Thank you again for your feedback. While HiBid does not control the operations of individual auctioneers, we take concerns seriously and continuously monitor auctioneer activity on our platform.

On 3/6/2025 I was notified by ******* ******* that my bid of $35.00 was the winner for a Streamlight 88054 Pro Tac HL USB flashlight on *********. ******* ******* charged my debit card for the item and shipping costs. On Thursday 3/13/2025 I received a shipment from ******* ******* that was a Streamlight Pro Tac Railmount HL-X flashlight. I am rejecting this response because:Thank you for contacting me. I reject the business' response in regards to auctioneers operating under/on the site. These auctioneers are operating in a manner that is tantamount to false advertisement, deception, and theft. If you stolen from or deliver a defective item and refused any form of contact or communication from the party you have blatantly stolen from or delivered a defective item to, it is HiBid's job to enforce honest and good business practices from the auctioneers. They are operating on your site. If they refuse resolution, then they are to be removed, penalized, or forced to meet a conclusion to all of their complaints. Saying that the auctioneers are solely responsible while they operate under your name is negligent, laissez-faire and downright ridiculous. I am asking HiBid to reach out to these two businesses. One that stole from me by refusing to send the items I purchased. And the other that sent a defective item, and refuses to communicate with me by any means. The business resolution is vehemently rejected.
Best,
Sincerely,

Thank you for your additional comments. We understand your concerns and want to clarify the role HiBid plays in the auction process.
HiBid is a software platform used by thousands of independently owned and operated auction companies across North America. We do not own, list, sell, ship, or collect payment for any items. Each auction is conducted solely by the auction company identified in the listing, and all transactions—payments, item descriptions, shipping, and dispute resolution—are the responsibility of that auctioneer.
While HiBid is not legally authorized to enforce customer service actions or issue refunds on behalf of auctioneers, we do track repeated issues and may take further internal action if patterns of misconduct arise.
In the meantime, we recommend continuing efforts to reach the seller directly.
We are sorry to hear about the negative experience and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I made a bid on an ****** *******(London, ON) and I am the only bidder and the bid is at my max already. The company replied to my complaint and stated there is no mistake. Also I just noticed that both responses from HiBid are exactly the same, showing they are just cutting and pasting it and don't really care about this complaint because they are making probably millions of dollars and don't want to do anything about this issue. I really am shocked that BBB is not replying to this response themselves because I think I am correct stating they are liable for actions of companies using their platfrom.Initial Complaint

This complaint isn’t for Hibid although I am disappointed that they would allow an auction company with a bad reputation to continue to run on Hibid, I couldn’t find a way to contact Hibid however so here I am. I won a coffee machine from ****** ******** in London, ON. First they wanted to charge me $143 for shipping when I’m only 3 hrs away, so I spent $60 in gas driving there instead. Got the item home to discover two parts missing and the water tank with a big crack and a big hole making the machine useless, the machine was also very used. None of this was mentioned in the title, description, or picture. I contacted Encore about this problem and asked for a refund. They were extremely unaccommodating, demanding that I drop it off in person because I picked it up in person and refusing to reimburse me for gas, making ME pay $120 for their fraud. Of course wasn’t till this point that I bothered to look at their reviews on google which showed thousands of complaints and 2 stars, if I’d checked first I would have never bid. I would suggest to Hibid Ontario that they remove Encore Auctions from their website. I’m hesitant to make anymore bids now, Encore is bad for business.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out regarding your experience with ****** ********* We understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback.
To clarify, HiBid is a platform used by independent auction companies to conduct online auctions. Each auction house operates independently, setting its own policies for item descriptions, condition reporting, shipping, and customer service.
HiBid does not handle listings, sales, or payments, nor do we control how individual auctioneers conduct their business.
Regarding Encore Auctions, it is our understanding that they sell returned goods and clearly state in their description that items are not inspected prior to purchase. While we encourage all bidders to carefully review auction terms before bidding, we also recognize the importance of accurate descriptions and transparency in listings.
If you believe the item you purchased was misrepresented, we recommend the following steps:
Continue working with the auction house to seek a resolution, as they are responsible for their own item descriptions and policies.
We take auction integrity seriously and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If you have additional details to provide, please let us know, and we will document your concerns accordingly.

I had entered a online auction through hibid auctions handle scroll through there catalog of the auction they were having there were several items I was interested in and placed bids on . Upon further review I realized that hibid auction company was actually consigning things for *** **** *****. Upon this discovery before the auction had even closed it had a couple days left on it I called high bid and said that I wanted to withdraw my bids they asked me why I said because *** **** ***** had already taking money from me and not giving me any product so hibid auction company said all I had to do was just delete my payment information and that was all I had to do so I did this and lo and behold 2 Days later I get money drawn from my account that I didn't approve of and it was through hibid auction company that *** **** ***** kept my bank account information and charged my accountBusiness Response

Thank you for reaching out.
We would like to clarify HiBid’s role in your auction experience. HiBid is a software platform that independent auction companies use to conduct their online auctions. We do not own, operate, or manage any auctions, nor do we process payments or hold bidder funds. All auction transactions are handled directly by the individual auctioneers who list items on the platform.
Regarding your concern:
If you requested to withdraw your bids, that decision would be at the discretion of the auctioneer, not HiBid, as each auctioneer sets their own bidding and payment policies.Payment information is provided directly to the auction house when you register and bid. If you have been charged for an auction you wished to withdraw from, we recommend contacting the auction house directly to resolve the matter.
If you believe an unauthorized charge was made, we suggest disputing the transaction with your bank or payment provider.
Since all transactions occur directly between the bidder and the auctioneer, any refunds or resolutions must be handled by the auction company itself.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
Sincerely,
******** ******Subject: Response to HiBid’s Misleading Statement and Failure to Accept Responsibility
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally reject HiBid’s response to my complaint, as it is both misleading and a blatant attempt to evade responsibility for their direct involvement in my transaction. HiBid’s claim that they are merely a “platform” and do not handle payment information is demonstrably false, and their failure to provide accurate instructions has resulted in financial damages on my end.
Let’s be clear—HiBid was the entity that collected my payment information, verified my card by charging a $1 authorization fee, and approved me to bid. When I sought to withdraw my bid, I was explicitly instructed by HiBid to remove my payment information as a means of preventing charges. I followed this directive in good faith, yet my card was still charged, forcing me to close the account and obtain a new one. HiBid’s guidance was misleading and directly contributed to the financial losses I have incurred, including bank fees and time spent resolving an issue that should never have occurred.
Given these facts, HiBid cannot simply distance itself from responsibility while simultaneously playing a crucial role in processing bidder payments and approvals. Their response is not only unacceptable but reflects a pattern of misleading practices that have real consequences for consumers.
The only reasonable next step is for HiBid to acknowledge their misrepresentation and take responsibility by reimbursing me for the financial losses their instructions directly caused. Failing to do so would indicate a willful neglect of consumer protection standards, and I am fully prepared to escalate this matter further if necessary.
I expect a prompt and reasonable resolution to this issue. Please advise on how HiBid intends to rectify the damages caused by their misleading information.
Sincerel
y,
*** ******

We appreciate your follow-up and understand your frustration regarding this matter. However, we would like to clarify again that HiBid operates solely as a software platform that independent auctioneers use to conduct their auctions. HiBid does not manage or control auction house policies, approve bid withdrawals, or process payments for auction transactions.
Payment Information & Charges – While HiBid facilitates bidder registration and may authorize a temporary $1 validation charge to verify payment information, all actual auction transactions, including final charges, are processed directly by the auction house. *** **** *****, the auctioneer in question, is solely responsible for charging bidders and managing payments. If you were charged despite removing your payment method, it indicates that the auctioneer had already received and retained your payment details before your request.
Bid Withdrawal & Instructions Given – We regret any misunderstanding, but HiBid does not have the authority to cancel bids once they have been placed. While removing a payment method may prevent future registrations, it does not guarantee bid cancellations or payment avoidance, as auctioneers maintain payment information per their terms. It remains the bidder’s responsibility to follow up with the auction house directly regarding bid withdrawals.
Dispute Resolution – Since *** **** ***** is the entity that conducted the auction and processed the charge, we strongly encourage you to continue working with them regarding a resolution. If an unauthorized charge was made, we also suggest contacting your financial institution for further recourse.
While we understand your frustration, HiBid is not responsible for refunding charges made by auction houses, as we do not collect or distribute funds for auctions. We remain available to assist you in understanding our platform’s role and any further technical inquiries you may have.

I won an auction from NW Revival, paid the invoice via zelle (I have proof). Asked ****** for an update on shipping and was assured i would get one in the afternoon that day. Thank you for reaching out. We understand your frustration regarding your transaction with NW Revival and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
To clarify, HiBid is a platform that independent auctioneers use to list and manage their auctions. Each auction house operates independently, including handling payments, shipping, and customer service. HiBid does not process transactions or oversee individual auctioneer operations.
Since your payment was sent directly to the auctioneer, we recommend the following steps to resolve this issue:
Continue Attempting to Contact the Auctioneer – If you have not already done so, try all available contact methods provided in the auction listing.
Report the Auctioneer to the Appropriate Authorities – If you believe the auctioneer is acting fraudulently, you may consider filing a complaint with the relevant consumer protection agencies in their state.
Provide Us with Details – While we do not have direct control over auctioneer operations, we do monitor auction houses using our platform. We will document the issue and take any necessary steps in accordance with our platform policies.
If the auctioneer is unresponsive and does not resolve the matter, they risk potential removal from HiBid. Please let us know if you would like us to reach out to them on your behalf.
