We contracted with Thrasher to install 7 beams in our mostly finished basement. We received a discount for removing 6” of sheetrock from floor to ceiling in the finished areas of the basement, and our salesman told us his crew would notch out the sheetrock in the ceiling where they needed to install the brackets for the beams. We expected reasonably small sections to be notched out neatly in straight lines, but what we got was 2 to 4 foot sections cut or ripped out with little attempt to make things easier to patch back up. The crew also ripped an outlet off the wall and also the framing stud it was attached to, and they left it hanging out in the open. They also pulled a wire in our closet so hard that it arced and popped the breaker attached to it and broke the light fixture. We sent our complaint to Thrasher even though we never received the survey the crew leader said they would send us. Thrasher responded and wanted to send out a second crew, but we refused, because we feared they would do more damage than good. I emailed them back to let them know we did not want Thrasher back in our home, and I requested they contact me by email in the future, since the stress of the situation was a threat to my wife’s health. Apparently, they didn’t read my email, because next our salesman called my wife and left a message. He told us to get a quote from a sheet rocker, and he would take care of it. Since we have already spent many hours repairing things ourselves, and we don’t trust that Thrasher will actually pay for the repairs, we have declined this as well. I understand Thrasher will attempt to contact us again after this post, but please don’t bother. We simply want others to use extreme caution before ever considering hiring Thrasher. We will never do business with Thrasher again.

Good afternoon Loren, We are incredibly sorry about the experience you had with Thrasher. We own that we should have set better expectations as to what the sheet rock should look like. At times, unforeseen circumstances come up, but we should have proactively communicated that at the time of installation. We strive to make every customer experience a positive one and we would still love the opportunity to correct our mistakes. We are also extremely sorry for any stress this situation put on you, your wife, and your family. We understand that you do not want to be contacted and we want to respect that decision. However, please know that if there is anything we can do to help with the situation we would love the opportunity to make it right and would be happy to pay for any repairs that you have incurred due to this incident. Thank you for responding to my review. I also appreciate you honoring my desire not to be contacted by phone, and your willingness to pay for the repairs we have incurred due to this incident. I believe you sincerely want to make things right. We have elected to do the repairs ourselves and we are probably about 40% done with the repairs. When we complete the repairs, if I send you copies of the receipts for the materials we have used in the repairs, would you be willing to reimburse us for those? I have also had to take a couple of days off from work to work on repairing our house, so reimbursement for those two days would be appreciated as well. Please email me and let me know where I can mail or email the receipts. From reading the other reviews, it looks like most of your crews do a great job, but unfortunately, it seems like the crew that did our job was not one of your better crews.

Lauren. We have sent you an E-mail discussing the reimbursement you are asking for to repair the damages in your home and we will continue to work with you until fully resolved. Again, we apologize about the inconvenience this has caused you.

I paid nearly$16000 for waterproofing and this year we had our first heavy rains and our basement flooded! When I called for service they sent a service tech which is another way of saying salesman. He says we didn't but the full package so it's not their problem but for another$8000 upfront they can fix it. now they keep trying to sell me on it .I will never reccomed them to anyone they seem to be a scam to me. I haven't even paid 1/3 of original repair and they want more money .Can't believe this is a part of Theasher.

I have only one thing to say about Thrasher and the John/Justin Team that came out and completed the project, and that is “WOW” was I impressed from beginning to finish. The google rating was a 5 star without much thought as they deserved much more than 5 stars. Here is how I rated them personally before choosing my ratings. They received a single STAR for showing up to the job site. They received another STAR for being on time and confirming the appointment. They received a STAR for reviewing the project before beginning to ensure complete communication. They then received another STAR for the level of expertise they demonstrated and the trade skills they possess and utilized on the job. Then finally John and Justin earned the final STAR from their teamwork and how they completed the job as a team including clean up and final communication with me and making sure I was completely satisfied. If there were more STARS to give out, they would receive one for allowing me to watch and ask questions during the entire process and they would receive another STAR for being courteous to me during the installation. I was like a little kid asking every question in the book…lol, and for that, they would get another STAR. How did I choose Thrasher you may ask? Well, I considered mud jacking and poly jacking and interviewed about 4 companies and settled for the top 2 volume companies. I signed an agreement with a different company, and I felt like I wanted to wait and talk to concrete replacement companies and the sales representative was very upset and wanted me to keep moving forward to the installation date, but I did not like the pressure and then I told them NO and to respect my decision. Thrasher Foundation & Repair was more than patient and courteous with their sales staff presentation and follow up, as well as the support staff too, so that is what made my final decision to choose Thrasher Foundation & Repair.

In my opinion, avoid this company. I sent a detailed 5-page letter to the President/CEO of the company 11/02/2023 defining concerns at length. The limitations imposed by this website require me to shorten it. As of now (11/17/2023) he has not responded. That should tell you everything. In 2020 Thrasher Co. aka MW Foundation Repair acquired the company I used for 12 years. The 3 years since with them is all I can stand. In 2021 I hired them for a job for $758. It cost me $2500 to hire others to redo the job properly and repair the damage they caused. In 2022 they charged me $630 plus a $159 service call to replace a sump pump that sells, even now, for $263 and installed would cost $400 total. In 2023 they charged me $1168 for a battery backup pump. You can buy an entire proven system (pump/charger/battery) for half that amount. The co. does not even honor the full manufacturer's warranty terms. Annual maintenance checks normally take less than an hour. On 10/23/23, my annual maintenance service call - for the 3rd year in a row - was more of a siege than service, dragging on for 4 HOURS due to their hard-sell-high-pressure tactics to sell products I don’t need to solve problems I don’t have. Arriving at noon they left at 4:00 PM. They can/will not follow minimum business standards to issue an invoice, proof of purchase, warranty, or receipt, but they certainly focus on immediate electronic collection/ capture of money as the service techs left without providing any record of the service call at all, outright lying about emailing me an invoice and receipt. I have been patient three years now. My conclusion? It has proven to be an amateurish, incompetent, price-gouging operation not to be trusted, in my direct experience. Despite its constant self-pronouncements of their own excellence and high-sounding (but low-performing) marketing gibberish to ‘re-make the industry” to me to it is nothing more than the worst possible example why such reforms are needed.

“We appreciate being able to discuss this with you and understanding where we can improve. There are several things that our team will work on to better serve future customers and ensure our systems operate so things don’t fall through the cracks. We encourage all customers to reach out if they ever feel like they didn’t get what they were expecting. Mistakes do happen, but we stand behind our promises. We also appreciate being able to explain our values and what we believe is the right way to do business. We have found those values resound with most customers, but also understand that some may be better off with a DIY solution or a company with different standards.”

What they believe is "the right way to do business" is EXACTLY the problem. The response is a feeble left-handed insult and disingenuous at best. Their values? The right way to do business? After over two weeks the CEO did contact me 11/18/23. Among his comments: "We probably overcharged you a couple hundred dollars", and went on to say that "was the least of (his) concerns", and then blamed me for being patient for three years. Yeah, it's my fault. All I can do is warn you. If you don't mind be overcharged hundreds of dollars on every purchase, and you don't mind paying thousands of dollars for repairs after their "work", then this is the company for you. And just try "to reach out". Their "Project Manager's" voicemail just played music iwith no message and no opportunity to leave one. Their emails are all "no reply". When you DO reach someone, nothing happens. The CEO ignores the correspondence you send to him. They are all "sorry" and "mistakes do happen" ( every time?) as if that excuses their behavior. Exactly what promises do they stand behind? It's all self-promotion with nothing behind it. Who wants to do business with a company you constantly have to argue with?

Bix covered my crawl space and removed mold and mildew and painted the basement walls. Price was lower than I expected. The guys did a great job, and I enjoyed working with Dillan who was very nice and professional.

My husband and I were very pleased with the overall job that Midwest foundations performed. Our sidewalks are now safe from potential falls – after they “lifted” several sections of our walkway. And we appreciated the follow through as they came back today and touched up a few things that we had questions about. I would recommend this company highly. Deb and Howard

Simply put, these people are corrupt. And the worst worst people you could deal with. They take advantage of the elderly, and yes, they sure the hell do they totally take advantage of the elderly in the worst of ways? Don't deal with them, save your money. Go somewhere else, hire anybody else, just not these people. They are the worst people you ever deal with in my opinion?

William. I sincerely apologize for this experience. I want to make this right, as this is not what we stand for as a company, and we would like to fix this. I am having trouble finding an account with your name or email attached to it. We are digging in and trying to figure it out. I would really like to speak with you personally to find the whole story and get to the bottom of it, and help. Please call us at 800-827-0702 so we can get this right.

If you have a choice, don’t hire them. I hired them to do carbon fiber strips for my basement walls and seal up a crawlspace under my porch. It’s a lot to explain but every step of this was a bad experience. They only ended up doing the basement and I canceled the crawlspace because of it. After weeks of phone calls back and forth with them and finally receiving a $500 refund for the items damaged and mess they left, they sent me someone to inspect the job because I had doubts. I cleared my schedule with only a couple day notice because I was assured the guy they wanted me to see was good. Come to find out he has only worked there 4 years and to be honest, I felt like I was being treated like a nuisance for bringing it up. He answered my questions but made no sense. My carbon fiber strips are not even attached to the wall at the top and there are air bubbles. I was told the strip only needs to be secure in the middle of the wall at the freeze line to work. I don’t think that’s true. I shouldn’t be able to peal it off the wall by hand and I can. I was told that once dry it would be stronger than steal but when I asked him about movement, he said they were flexible. He said they shouldn’t be more than 5 feet apart and I have two almost 7 feet apart, he had more excuses. He kept asking me if I was satisfied so I would say yea and he could leave. He also just kept saying they have a 25 year warranty to make me happy. Personally I’d rather have confidence it was done right and my walls are secure. All along the way I’ve had inconveniences that could have been avoided. They don’t care how much work you miss to accommodate them, how many phone calls you have to make because they don’t get back to you, you won’t get refunds for ruined property unless you follow up multiple times, and you should just be okay with your basement walls caving in because of a warrantee. I’m stuck hiring someone else to inspect their work to get some kind of peace. Save yourself the trouble!
