August 23, 2023. Paid USD $3104. Spent thousands but went to no lunches. When I signed up, I was going on vacation, so they advised me to put my membership in hold. Unfortunately there was a limit to how long you can put your membership on hold. When an immediate family member died soon after that, my 6 months of hold ran out. They didnt care, they didnt offer me anything. They just said too bad and kept my money. They dont care about actually introducing you to anyone one. When I was actually active briefly, the sent me offers to go on dates with people that were far beyond my very lenient criteria (e.g., morbidly obese, elderly). Also if you decline such an offer it counts against you, as if you used up one of your total allotted dates. The pool of dates is bad. Even after giving my feedback, they continued to offer me similar dates. They didnt inform me that declining such awful matches that are way out of my acceptance zone count against me. They didnt inform me of this hold limitation. They said my membership expires after Ive gone on the allotted number of dates.Business Response

I signed up in October 2024 and was told that they were able to match me with my preferences of someone over 5' 10" and under the age of 62. I paid $2900 and the first "date" offered to me was someone 5' 8", which I reminded them was not in my parameters. The "**********" was rude and told me how much work it was to find a match for me so I contacted the person that signed me up and she changed my **********, also telling me that there were lots of potential men in my parameters. Second ********** sent me an email with a potential date, AGAIN not in my parameters, he was older than 62. I then requested a refund since it is obvious they have no intention of finding me a date within my parameters and only thing they followed through on was taking my money. I attempted to dispute it with my credit card company, but of course the parameters were not listed in the contract. Third "date" offered was 67, 4th "date" offered was 74! Unfortunately I did not read the reviews/complaints before I signed up or I would not have. This company is only capable of taking your money, not fulfilling their obligations.Business Response

Joined this service and after one year not one date. I was called by a ***resentative maybe three times in that year and then no calls until I called them asking what was going on. They said sorry you have a new *** but they didnt let me know for several months. I put my membership on hold so that I didnt lose anymore time. Six months later they call today to let me know they canceled me and I had 10 un used dates. Well they never gave me one date. This is a totally unethical company. They do not do what they promise. After not hearing from *** for several weeks I found out that they changed my matchmaker but never let me know so for weeks I didnt even know who to call. So I put my service on hold as to not lose anymore time while they figured out who my new matchmaker was. Once my service was no longer on hold no one called me. I signed a 6 month contract for 6 dates to be provided by Its Just lunch in sept and immediately got 3 useless dates. Then nothing in October, November, December or January. Its Just Lunch blamed it on the holidays which was an outright lie. Its obvious to me they do not have any people in their database. I advised them of breach of contract, deceptive business practice, and fraud and demanded reimbursement for remains balance of my account. They stated they have. No Refund Policy,. *** regrets to learn the consumer has not enjoyed his experience thus far as this is not the norm. The membership he purchased was for 6 months,6 dates, whichever comes last not to exceed 12 months. The consumer has been provided with 5 dates thus far, two he accepted to meet and three he declined to meet. We did provide him one complimentary date so he currently has 2 dates remaining to be serviced by September 12, 2025. We disagree with his statements,he had a date 10/4, declined a date 10/9 and had a date 10/17. He declined his next date 11/18, was updated in December and January on our recruitment efforts and declined his next date in February. His membership is clear on how the services are to be provided and what the membership offers. He reviewed it, had as much time as necessary to ask questions before executing it and his signature reflects that he agrees with the services being provided and as such a refund is not appropriate. I hired and was promised that there were many prospects in my area. I was also promised that 3 prospects were not my limit. The "matchmakers" are very uninterested in really trying to match you with someone compatible. They do not provide the service that they verbally tell you and purposefully mislead you. The matches are not even in the same ball park. There is not a customer service department that you can really talk to. When you do call and complain your concerns they send you back to the same person. Worst experience of my life. A complete scam. COMPLETE. PLEASE TELL EVERYONE, so nobody else gets scammed. I bought the service 3 years ago, but it ran out a few months ago. They consistently ignored me and would not talk to me for months (sometimes as long as 6months) at a time. Usually I would have to call them, to remind them I paid for a service they were not providing. Originally I paid for 24 dates to be scheduled over a 2 yr period, but after 1 year of not getting a single date scheduled, using Covid as an excuse, had to argue to get a partial refund for only scheduling 12 dates. Might have been understandable if they had paused my contract time due to Covid since no/very minimal dates were being scheduled. However they counted all of Covid as part of the contract time.They promised tons of matches, but I only got 2 to 3 matches and only went on 1 online date and 1 in person date. In fact, when I talked with the online date, we found out that the matchmakers had lied about several criteria me and the other person had for our matches. I kept asking for matches that met my criteria, which were not very stringent. But they consistently could not meet the 3 criteria I had for them. Then when I was told my contract was up, I explained that I still had 11 dates to complete. And that they are failing to uphold their end of the deal. They stated that it was because I turned down good matches, based off their opinion.I have never had worse service from a company and consistently asked for them to either give me a refund or do their job, Instead they bounced me around 6 different matchmakers, failed to provide adequate service and stole my money. On December 23,2022 I signed a contract with It's Just Lunch. I was told the amount for this dating service would be $3400 but if I immediately signed the contract it would only be $2400, which I unfortunately did. The contract stated 12 dates or 12 months whichever comes later. I had a total of 2 dates - one in January 2023 with "*****" and the other September 2023. That's it. They also put my account on a 6 month hold - don't know why.I plan on legally prosecuting It's Just Lunch FOR:1. Elderly abuse. They took my money and could not provide their service due to my age.2. We regret the consumer was not satisfied with her membership with IJL, however, we adamantly disagree with her statements and sentiments in her complaint. IJL provided the services to the client as outlined in the membership agreement. The consumer expired due to her account being placed on hold as she was nonresponsive for an IJL date. The membership agreement clearly outlines the hold terms, when a membership would be placed on hold and that a membership will expire on hold if the consumer has not contacted us to return to active status prior to the hold time exceeding. This is also all outlined in the hold letter provided to the consumer September 27, 2023. I am rejecting this response because:The response from It's Just Lunch (IJL) is a bold-faced lie.
You can see by the attached emails my frustration with IJL
They would ask my availability and when I told them I am retired and available any time but would give them dates
they would come back with "they are not available"
That is why I had a "zoom" conversation with ****** (attached) stating that IJL had it a** -backwards. They should have asked the Gentlemen first as I told them I am always available.
Apparently I am not the only BBB complaint with this "company" as there has been class action suits against IJL.
They need to close down as they are a total scam and a shame they get peoples hopes up and trash it.

Good Morning,I am reaching out to file a formal complaint against the entity It's Just Lunch. I joined and paid $3,900 for their promised matchmaking services on Friday 3/29/24. Since then, it has been unprofessional and severly under par of what was promised. I have complained to them several times after only being matched with 1 actual date, and only shown 3 members in total since my joining. The matchmakers assigned who are supposed to reach out to me and provide this service, do not reach out. You will see from all of the emails attached how much I had to reach out to them. They said they would follow up and it was only after I chased them, then they would try and fix the issue. For a service that totes high class matchmaking, they treat their customers like the self service check in at ********. They should not be allowed to charge the amount for what they advertise. I would hate to think that part of the reason I am being given such terrible treatment and possibly discriminated against by this service is because of my ethnicity or I don't have the sterotypical trophy wife "look", i.e., slightly overweight & hispanic. All I am asking for is my money back since they have not delivered on anything they have promised. I should not have to chase a business this hard when I have paid this amount of money. i had one date
The second date I was presented with and agreed to, the other person said no to me
the third person was presented twice (which IJl is passing off as two different people which is inaccurate)
The fifth person I was presented, *** had handled this so badly and I was already pursuing this route of filing a complaint that the matchmaker suggested we HOLD.
Meanwhile, what your recruiters promise in the verbal call before they send the member agreement doesnt align. Your recruiters gave a completely false representation of this process and that is why Im complaining. I also find the timing of IJL response curious becuase you waited UNTIL the matchmaker put me on hold to respond to this. This is the only consistent part is IJL actions AFTER I chase or they put me in a terrible position.
this is a horrible way to treat people who have spent a lot of money for this service. Its irresponsible and your team sold a false impression to get me in the door and pulled a classic bait and switch. Its not ok and for IJL to take zero responsibility on this whole situation is beyond maddening at this point. You should be ashamed duping people and verbally promising them one thing while hanging them sign something that is nothing like what was discussed. That is the root of the issue. I was told one thing before signing up and now *** wants to hide behind the contract and 100% put it on the customer.
This is why I complained. IJL should be held accountable for what their team promised before the membership agreement and then how they handled it once they had my money. If they tried to see this from my perspective, they would hate it if the shoe was on the other foot.

The response you received from its just lunch is incorrect. According to the signed contract I have they must meet 3 parameters. They did not meet those 3 parameters for any of the three dates. So they are not abiding by the contract. I do not understand how the case can be closed if they are not fulfilling the contract.
In addition, they have not reached out to me since receiving my letter of complaint in March.

I totally regret I signed up & paid $2500 for It's Just Lunch dating site in November 2023. I still (6 month) did not get any date. They sent 65 year old men's picture for the date, although I put ***** y.o. That old men is not even close to my taste I described to them. I really hoped for that much money they would do good job. They promised that they would hand pick a match specifically for me. It is definitely Scam! I wish I saw all these complains before I signed up. Why IJL still exists and prospering with lies. Why nobody can do anything to shutdown their dishonest company? IJL Team, keep in mind, ***** will definitely get you all whoever involved in this fraud dating site. Hi,
I would like to thank BBB team for their great impact on IJL service.
I would like to let you know that after my complaint about IJL, they contacted me right away and I had my first date with 59 years old man. My preference is 52-56. I paid IJL $2400 for 12 dates within 12 month, but I got 1 date within 6 month.
Hopefully IJL will continue to do their job to satisfy their clients.
I will keep you updated every month to show how good IJL is doing their job.
