On September 12th, 2024, my daughter and I entrusted ZIP ZAP AUTO with her ***** CX-7 to address three specific issues: replacing a dead battery, fixing an illuminated engine light for smog compliance, and remedying acceleration problems. We paid a total of $300 for the battery replacement and subsequently agreed to a costly diagnostic repair totaling $1,900, based on the assurance from their staff that these repairs would resolve the ongoing issues.However, since the initial drop-off, our experience has been marred by misdiagnosis, unprofessional behavior, and a complete lack of effective communication. Despite their commitments, the car remains unfixed, unsafe to drive, and continues to exhibit the very problems we brought it in for. After several failed attempts at resolution, including multiple rounds of diagnostics that incorrectly identified the vehicle's issues, we have been left with mounting frustration and distrust.The situation escalated when an employee verbally assaulted us during our inquiry about the unresolved issues. Since then, ZIP ZAP AUTO has made no substantial efforts to rectify the situation. We have been repeatedly told contradictory information about our case, leading to a growing mistrust in their ability to address our concerns ************* a disabled veteran on a fixed income, this unresolved situation is not only financially burdensome but also limits my daughter, who is a college student, in managing her responsibilities. We respectfully seek the assistance of the Better Business Bureau to mediate this matter, requesting that all fees be waived so we can take our unfixed car and move forward without further complications or threats from ZIP ZAP AUTO.We hope to come to a fair and peaceful resolution through BBB mediation without having to resort to legal action, as our goal is simply to have this matter resolved without further conflict or escalation.Business Response

I brought my Corolla to Zip Zap Auto with the check engine light on. They diagnosed my car and replaced the evaporative canister. I paid for services rendered, then left. A few days later, my check engine light came on. I returned to Zip Zap Auto. They stated the replacement canister was faulty and swapped it with another. I paid for a diagnostic fee then left. A few months later, my check engine light came on again, so I took my car back to Zip Zap Auto. My car was reading the same diagnostic trouble codes as before. I asked them to replace the warranted canister again, but they refused. They stated I had an issue with my Corolla's computer and insisted I either pay for it to be rebuilt or replaced. I said I wanted a second opinion, paid another diagnostic fee and left.I took my car to ***************** for a diagnosis. They stated I needed my evaporative canister replaced. I paid for a diagnostic fee then left.I contacted Zip Zap Auto in attempts of having the warranted canister replaced, again. They still refused and stated I had a computer issue.I went back to *****************, and they replaced my evaporative canister, for the third time. Stated an "after market" part had been put into my car. I paid for services then left, with said part.I contacted Zip Zap Auto in attempts of being refunded. They declined my request at first, stating I had to have the part replaced at their shop. I explained that I had already attempted to do so, unsuccessfully. After a considering amount of persuasion, I was told to bring the defective canister to the shop for a refund. They reviewed my supporting documents, took the part, and stated they would be in touch regarding my refund.After months of phone calls, and shop visits, I still have not received a refund, and there is not status on request either.I spent over $1,600 to have my evaporative canister replaced at Zip Zap, and would like to be refunded because I had to have it replaced again.Business Response

Really upset and disappointed in ZIP ZAP Auto. I have bright 3 of my vehicles to this company. 1st vehicle was a suv we bought my daughter off our aunt. They said several things was wrong with it and we paid and had it fixed a few thousands. Then right after check engine light came on they said they fixed it check engine kept coming on and they said they fixed finally we just left it alone bono k e has time to keep the car there for them to keep fixing it. Then my daughter was unable to reverse. We had ZIP ZAP auto tow it and do a diagnostic on it. They said the transmission needs to be replaced. So we asked them to proceed. We were trying to just have one company work on all our cars. This then cost us few thousands of dollars. Then my other suv was having issues briught it to them and they did a diagnostic on it few thousands was going to cost me. We said proceed. I made a comment that ever time I bought my vehicles in here its cost me a few thousand every time. They laughed. I didnt really think anything about it because I dont know the price to fix these vehicles. But whats the kicker that my daughter called me said that her car wont reverse again and its stuck in her driveway.I proceeded to Zip auto spoke to a gentleman name *****. He said the transmission is under warranty and I asked him am I gonna be charged for anything? He said we will take care of you.. After they had a vehicle for several days to do a diagnostic on it to find out whats going on theyre going to tell us its not the same thing that it was going on before even though its doing the exact same thing and we replaced a whole transmission because they said it was the transmission. now theyre saying the Transfer case. So I why wasnt this picked up on when we had the transmission replaced when they said it was the transmission. No answer to question. Told us it will cost us another $1000 to do the work. zipzap auto claims they diagnosed my cars issue and charged me $1699.19 for the repairs. I told them that i was from out of town and needed to drive home 7hrs to **************. they told me that my care was fully repaired and ready for my trip home. 3hrs drive north going home my care breaks down again for the exact same issue in the first place. i became stranded 40 mile outside of ******* Nv at 11:30pm having a great sense of danger. i had to call the hwy patrol to have then send out for a tow truck. the tow into Tonopah Nv cost me $400 and now i had to get a hotel room for the night ant its now 2am the only one open was a great western and cost me $200. in the morning the car was at a local shop where they properly diagnosed my car and repaired it and that cost me $363 thankfully they local shop did a great job because my car got me home safe. But i'm still looking for compensation for the fact ZipZap was negligent in diagnosing my vehicles issue leaving us stranded in the middle of the desert around 11:30pm with no cell service but only the ****** feature on my cell phone to reach the local sheriff's office for help. They sent out a tow service that cost me $400 and then i had no choice but to take refuge at a Best Western in the local town of ******* for $200 and I have lost wages for missing work that Monday of $300... I'm not asking for the repair cost from the local shop that did the work correctly.So i think its only logical that i receive compensation for a total of $900 for all the extra expenditures i had for ZipZaps negligence... Also I was recently informed by a higher up representative (*****) from ZipZap HQ that their shop where not authorized to diagnose or work on an out of town clients vehicle on any given Sunday !!
But ZipZap knowingly disregarded company policy and negligently and allegedly did work on my car and charged me a hefty fee !!

I am rejecting this response because: ZipZap are falsely accusing of not receiving payment, yet here is proof that they were paid (see attached doc's) and the amount that im asking for is because of they're negligence and the fact that they didn't fix my car.. ZipZap's policy is to not diagnose or repair out of town vehicles, but did so anyways, totally ignoring company policy. The manager at the time gave a statement saying so. I took my car to zip zap because my car I couldnt get it to pass smog I tried everything I changed every sensor I had my brother go in and tell them what work had been done so that they knew it had already been done and they didnt need to do it because my funds were limited. They came back with it was a problem with the ecm and that wiring harness. They had my car 3-4 days and have charged me for all the sensors I had just changed and the camshaft sensor I know for a fact they did not change because its the same one that I have a warranty on from auto zone and the other sensors have highlighter paint marker marks from the junkyard I got them from. They charged me over **** and the same day I picked my car up less than fifty miles later my check engine light came back on and its the same p1273 code that I couldnt fix myself . They also charged me twice for diagnostic fee????? I dont think they did **** dollars worth of work to my car I had my engine changed for less at another shop its ridiculous.Business Response

So far it appears the work was performed as requested and vehicle has not been brought back for any issues and we offered to tow it if it is not drivable but we were told they do not need or want it towed. I have read the reviews on this company and I really cannot afford to pay for any more work and in the reviews it has been said that yes they towed their vehicle back but then tried to charge them for more work and Im afraid to get taken for more to be honest. Zip zap automotive is not what they sell themselves to be. I went in there on 1/21/23 due to my wifes engine light being on. We needed to pass smog and register our car and they told us no problem well get it fixed. They told me after a diagnostic that it had a evaporative leak and needed a smoke test. They ran the test, said they found the problem and that the total cost was $1,365 with the added recommendation of an oil change because might as well instead of re using old oil. I made the mistake that they were right and since it was late at night, and they are 24/7 I was in a pickle because I needed repairs done so I could register. We paid and drove the 100 miles they said and the engine light came back on, ( they never smogged it in the beginning), we took it back in and I explained to them that I cant register it because the lights back on and it wont pass smog. So they said no problem well take it and check it out. They had it all day and they call me around 7 oclock to tell me now it failing because it needs another part, a purge solenoid vapor canister. That part itself was $158 and with labor it totaled to $260. Drove it another 100 miles and light came back on, they had it all day once again but now it needs a fuel pump. I said no, they said well let us work and try to fix it, 3 different days later each having the car 5+ hours, nothing was still fixed properly to what I originally paid. I took it to another shop because I was running out of time for registering the car, explained the situation to them and they smogged it and it failed, they did the same amok test and no leaks were present. They drove it and did the work proper and communicated with me every step. It passed smog and I registered the vehicle. The whole thing for ***************** (other company), cost me $165. They told me themselves that none of the previous charges shouldve come to that. We were not the first to get cheated by them and we wont be the last.Business Response

I took my vehicle to Zip Zap Auto in October and paid $1,794.35 to get my suspension fixed and an oil change. I paid for the ill in full and picked up my vehicle on 12/26/2022. My vehicle worked well at first but I only drove it a short distance when I noticed the fluids in the vehicle were all empty, the washer fluid wasn't bolted in and the suspension slammed down about 15 minutes in. The payment of ******* was for 4 hours extra of diagnostic to ensure it was the right problem, a full synthetic oil change with inspection, and the replacement of a compressor part in the suspension. I called zip zap auto and they asked me to bring it by. After bringing it by, they said they did not fix the actual prolem and it must be some kind of seal instead so they would only repair the compressor they just put in- which wasn't even the issue. I was extremely baffled, especially when I heard that the women in the office made a big deal to inform my husband picking up the vehicle that I look old and should be his mother. I'm extremely frustrated that Zip Zap Auto has taken my money, not repaired the problem and clearly don't have respect for other humans or their customers. I would like a refund for the work that wasn't done, the issue that wasn't solved. Between my vehicle being in the shop for 5 days total so being out of a car, having to uber around, paying for a vehicle that wasn't fixed and then publicly insulted behind my back for asking that my vehicle actually be repaired?Business Response

I contacted the owner and his only resolution was to do work on my vehicle. He offered to tow it there and fix it himself. As I no longer trust this establishment (especially after the front office woman threatened to put a bomb in my car) he is asking me for a mechanic report of the vehicle from a new mechanic. If we are getting to this level Ill provide my proof in court.

I have spoken by phone and by text and offered to resolve any issues she has at our expense, but she has declined to allow us to tow it or pick it up or look into her issues. She further has refused to give us the contact information for the garage she claims she took it to that said we did faulty work. She also refuses to take it to another shop and have them look into it and let us know what we did wrong. She wants her money back without explaining why and without returning any parts. And last, but not least, she is not the customer, her husband brought the vehicle in and authorized and paid for the repairs and we have not heard from him.
We offer a nationwide 12 month / ****** mile warranty and free towing if needed (Which is not he case here) and reimbursement for defective parts or faulty workmanship.

since the beginning I have stated the same issue. I even brought it back to your shop to address the issue. YOUR SHOP did not tow it for free. Neither time. They also tried to charge me more money, to the tune of $1000, when 10 minutes after I pick up my vehicle the suspension slams down, the washer tank is emoty and the all fluids as well as not bolted in?
this was said to your company verbally on the phone, on writing in text, via email, in yelp reviews, in their own automotive reports which you have.
I will pursue this matter to the fullest extent. All correspondance is date and time stamped with metadata.
