Someone from this company contacted my partner and claimed they were collecting a 21 year old repossession debt in the state of Missouri. Missouri has a 10 year statute of limitations on debt collection. The individual tried to get my partner to pay a one-time lump sum for $10,000.00 to close the debt. My partner was informed that she had 2 hours to come up with this or the company was going to pursue legal compensation. Additionally, the representative from the company explained that the original debt had been compounded by fees and other charges. This whole thing smelled like a scam. When we did our research, we found that the phone number is a known scammer, and that they have no legal right to any past debts. When I called the company, I spoke with an individual at the company that informed me that they were a law firm. This is a scam and I would recommend that anyone contacted by a representative from Oakdale and Associates, or what ever rendition of this name they choose to use, to contact local law enforcement.
