Bill has gotten very high, we lose power often for long periods of time they don’t come to read meters and then say they want to install a smart meter with out giving us full disclosure of what this meter will do. We have heard horror stories

My bill has doubled in the past 3 months since the smart meter was installed, they have been sending 2 bills a month within 2 weeks apart. I don't even get a chance to pay the first due date then another bill arrives which is double the first bill with a new due date. I am also retired and on a fixed income

Worst company ever. If you’re thinking about moving to an area that is serviced by myself! THINK AGAIN… they have a monopoly in the area- there is no where else to go for power- they price gouge -I used to pay about 200 a month in the winter but since they put in these smart meter and I’ve had to pay over 5k in electric bills in the past 3 months. Mind you I have solar panels and I have no changed my electric habits - they said they would investigate but no one has gotten back to me. I have power outages once a week. I wish I didn’t buy a house here so I don’t have to deal with them

NYSEG never read my gas meter when they came to read my electric meter in February 2025. I got the bill, and they only charged for the electric and they told me they would have someone come to read the gas meter, but nobody showed up and now they are charging me for 43 days of gas instead of 18 days like the electric. I called the corporate office and all of the sudden their computer wasn't working. Why should I pay extra money for gas when NYSEG never read the meter, but they charge me for it in March. Also, this past summer in Aug. 2024 they charged me $405.00 for electric and gas and I called them again and this time a man came an read the meter telling me someone put the wrong numbers in that was on the meters and that they were overcharging me. He also told me a few employees have been busted for doing this. NYSEG should do their job right or it's time for all of us to go after them.

Bills with many NYers have gone up substantially in the last several months. I'm single, live in an apartment, rarely watch TV, light is on only in the room where I am, no new appliances, am frugal with energy use as much as possible. I am sure my electric usage has gone down somewhat since a year ago, but NYSEG says it's increased by almost double. My monthly bill is up $50/mo, I'm on budget and I'm sure I will still have a big bill due at end of year. Last year my last bill was almost $600 when my normal monthly back then was around $110, more or less. This is terrible. I've heard from many people who had bills then went up much more than mine. Some went up double or even triple. This can NOT be normal. I've filed a complaint with PSC, all they did was contact NYSEG and had them call me with ways to lessen my energy usage. I've complained to NYSEG and all they do is blame me, not their system, their increasing charges, etc. They are terrible! We residents of NYS need help from someone.

If there was an option to not proved a star, my choice would be a big red flag! I live an in 800 SQ ft apartment my bills are over 300! Ever since they turned on the smart meter! This company needs to be ashamed of themselves for ripping people off the way they do! I kept my heat at 60 degrees because I read they were increasing pricing. Average temp in my apartment during the cold times we had was 64. This is ridiculous! They need to have DOGE come audit their books and see where all this money is going. The service is horrible, power is always out but man are they still charging you! Need all new electrical lines and poles. Someone is getting rich off our backs!

Since the new smart meter was installed my gas usage has gone up each month and has now almost doubled. NYSEG claims that the meter was tested before installing and works fine and does need to be looked at. Also when look at the billing days per month that it is 33 days, 34 days, 36 days and so on. Last time I checked there is no month over 31 days. So why am I being billed for more days than in a month. My bill keeps going up a $100 a month and they claim it is all accurate despite usage doubling for no reason. When calling all the rep says it is work and technology is accurate. No need to check they said and just kept repeating is accurate and no proof of what is going on. Finally hung up since rep just kept repeating the same line.

My electric bill doubled the last 2 months and my usage has not changed very much. Ever since my smart meter has been installed my bill has been out of control.

I am 81 years old on a fixed social security income. My bill tripled this month with no advance notice. This is outright ridiculous and so unfair to existing customers. I cannot afford to live now due to inflation hikes.

My bill went from $260 a month a year ago to over $1000 this month. Plus, I have used less electricity then I did a year ago. This should be against the law!!!!!! This is a monopoly as we have no other choices. How do we fix this. No one listens
