The banks in Otsego County, NY seem predatory. The Sidney Federal Credit Union gives better rates, but that does not say much. They have no financial advice consultant. This reveals that they do not care about people's well being. Many banks in New York City offer free financial consultants to those who have accounts, or at least they used to about a decade ago, and good quality financial advice. I was able to get a great car due to a loan from the Sidney Federal Credit Union. Except, the car payment in itself is around $130.00 a month for several years, but the loan adds $136.00 each month for many years. That seems more than 8% that is what the rate is supposed to be. They also would not give me a home equity loan just based on my property, had to fill out all kinds of other forms that I did not do. I want to relocate out of NY, now that I am 60 years old, and my health would improve in a sunnier area, and I find myself stuck in Upstate, NY. Further, the reason I had to get financing is because I am being financially abused for years, my small business not receiving communications, the pandemic fiasco and other reasons. I feel preyed on and scammed in this area. The banks just taking advantage of it.
