1 starI have a Slomins security system. When one of the sensors stopped working, I replaced the battery, but the problem persisted. I called the company and was told that a technician visit would cost /$85. I responded that it was unfair to charge me for service when their monitoring equipment was faulty. They offered me an alternative: if I signed up for a one-year contract extension, there would be no charge. I agreed, with no change to the cost of my **********, a technician came to my home and replaced the defective sensor. Yet just minutes later, I received a /$149 invoice from Slomins for a service they had told me would be free. Shame on Slomins for its deceptive practices.Review fromSylvia N

1 starReview for Slomins *********** (***********):I do not recommend Slomins at all. I was a customer for several years, and the only reason I stayed that long was because I never had any issues with my boiler, and the oil tank was easily accessible. They could deliver at their convenience, and I never needed service.A few months ago, I noticed a leak and contacted them to come check it out. I was told to *************, which I did via email, through their website, and even through my account login. I received no response. I kept calling and got nowhere. Eventually, I gave up and paid someone else to come fix it.Around that time, we built a deck over the oil tank access. Now, a section of the deck needs to be lifted for deliveries, so I told Slomins Id need a call in advance to open it. The first delivery went smoothly they called, and I received 250 gallons. Less than two weeks later, they called again. I explained I had barely used a quarter of that oil and that they should come less frequently due to the access issue. They said okay.Last week, I was down to less than a quarter tank, so I called to schedule a delivery. I was told it would take two days but they never showed up. I submitted a request again through my account no response. I called again, repeated that I need a specific day so I can leave the access open (otherwise, it stays closed for safety I have kids). Still, *************, I ordered oil from a different company cash on delivery. Slomins has lost my business. My contract ends in October or after they deliver 666 gallons. I only need about 130 more from them and then Im done. The only positive: the techs who come for yearly cleanings have always been professional and courteous.Review fromLaToya D

1 starI have had ******** for almost 4 years, and I have received the worst service this year. My security camera never works. The sole purpose of having the system is to secure my home, and having the camera lets me see what is happening in front of my home, protect my packages from theft, and add an extra layer of security. The last 30 days, I've had to call in to complain about my camera at least once a week. I get a tech to come out only for the camera to stop working a week later. I am not satisfied with the service and unfortunately, I am stuck in a contract with a rather large amount as a payout to be released.Review fromHeather B

1 starI would give zero stars if I could. I have a service contract with Slomins. Last week, my heat exchanger had a pinhole leak. Called them to come take a look. When the service guy gets here he barely looks at for a few seconds and said it wasnt covered under the contract and we need a plumber. He tried to leave with water spraying out of the boiler. He then gave my husband and I such a hard time when we asked him to give us more details on our contract, and how much it would cost to repair or replace the heat exchanger. He left, saying hes not able to help us. After calling around a few places, we find out the heat exchanger isnt even sold to plumbers or anyone else thats not HVAC certified. The next day was Friday and we were on the phone to slominss with three different people, and got three different answers on whether the part was in stock or not and also told they were unable to give a timeframe on when the part would be in stock. We had to shut the main water line off by this point because the leak was getting worse. We were being held hostage by Slomins on being able to repair our boiler to get the main water back on in our house. Slomins never called us back all weekend or on Monday. We had to go the whole weekend with no running water in our house, with two children and a dog. When we told the customer service person this and we needed a timeframe on when we could expect the part to be in he rudely replied I have a family too! I literally could not believe what I was hearing. All customer service **** or service people we encountered during this ordeal were rude, confrontational and uninformed. Ultimately, we hired a person we knew personally who was able to get the part within 2 days and repair in under an hour. We have still not heard back from Slomins and for all they know we are still living with no running water or heat in our home while we still pay for a service contract with this horrible company.Review fromBuddy H

1 starI was both a customer and an employee of this horrid company. I experienced the way they treat their customers from both ends of the equation. Ownership believes that they're better than others because they have money and they really don't care about their employees or their customers for that matter. I once was told to tell a woman who didn't have heat upstairs in their kids room to have their kids sleep downstairs because they couldn't get to them for 4 days. What kind of nonsense is this? Do yourself a favor don't with this company.Review fromThomas O

1 starShould have an option for zero stars. We've been in ******* since late December. Had someone check my house and the boiler was off. Turns out there was no oil in the tank. When customer service finally answered they said it was because I had a gate when they went to deliver. What?Called back because I couldn't understand the first rep. **** one said I had an outstanding balance of some $300 from the first delivery in late December, which I paid.I had just signed up with them. I asked why not call or email me or send a bill? When I asked them to fill the tank they said 3-5 business days to schedule a delivery. Hoping I don't have frozen pipes.A lot of one star reviews here. Stay away.Review fromPaul D

1 starToo big to care about the little people. They performed my annual boiler cleaning on 1/17/2025, which had zero problems for years. Within 2 hours of leaving, the temperature in my house was 76 degrees. I called and they said to turn off boiler and restart to see if that fixes the problem. It has not. So my boiler is constantly burning oil at $3.59 a gallon. I called several times and they said they can't get a service technician out to my house until 1-30-2025. Their 24/7 emergency service is NOT applicable to me because I have heat. They literally told me to "open my windows" or shut down the boiler when it gets too hot for 2 weeks. So when I shut it down and it drops to ***** degrees, my zone downstairs drops to ***** degrees. I'm concerned about this boiler blowing up and I'm constantly shutting down and restarting a boiler. I am well aware there are people without heat and I am totally willing to wait several days for a technician, but 2 WEEKS!!! I've been told that a service supervisor would call me for days now and nothing........Review fromROBIN W

2 starsFunny how after 5 years of no issues, when my contract gets within a week of running it's course, all 7 sensors in my house, stopped working. When I called they tried to sell me a maintenance agreement for $110/year and extend my contact, or $90 for a service call. The idiot on the phone told me it was probably due to the cold weather. Doubt that, I called ADT and I'm dropping Slomin's this week and going to ADT. Buyer bewareReview fromLaura T

1 starIts Christmas Eve and my burner stopped working. I thought I had peace of mind because I have their survive plan and theyd send someone tonight but they told me they dont have anyone who can come and that theyll text me tomorrow as to when they can show up. No window of time or anything. Its below freezing outside. Why have a service plan if they cant support it?!?!Review fromDanielle M

1 starBuyer beware! ... Not sure why I am even wasting my time with writing this review. It appears as though Slomins does not value their customer concerns after reading all the other reviews, and feedback reported to the Better Business Bureau. I will never use this company again for my home heating oil. Their contract terms are misleading, and borderline fraudulent. I'm not sure how they are able to legally get away with delivering unsolicited oil fill ups at a 'expired' rate, charging well above fair market prices, after the contract rate had expired. Customers are led to believe their contract terms expires on a specific date, while Slomins retain the right to continue delivering oil without the consent of the consumer. They do not reach out prior to inquire about the customers needs or to renegotiate the rate based on fair market fluctuations. But instead, take the initiative to deliver without notice based on an 'expired rate' that somehow they retain the right to charge. This is a highly unethical business practice, and I do not see how it serves Slomins if there is any concern on their part to retain a loyal customer base. I asked for an adjustment on my bill after providing proof that they overcharged me about $200 compared to a competitor and they refused. Seeing as though the Better Business Bureau has had a large amount of similar complaints, I doubt that this review will serve to encourage Slomins to reconsider their faulty business practices. To me, it's a pathetic last ditch effort to make a few couple hundred bucks, while throwing away good paying customers. The point - if you want to ensure they are prohibited from scheduling any/all future deliveries, you must call their "cancellation department". When I called, conveniently no one in that department was available to speak. They make it almost impossible. I instead had to 'chat' with a customer service representative to confirm the account itself, was cancelled. I will not be using them in the future!
