I had scheduled a routine chimney cleaning. In years prior, this type of cleaning would take 45minutes to an hour. Upon arrival, after a very quick observation of my stove, the technician informed me I needed a deep clean. He said this would range around $575.00. I allowed him to proceed, because I trusted his professional opinion. After one tech vacuumed the stove, and two other men ran a snake up and down the chimney for ten minutes, I was told the work was completed after no more than 15 minutes. I then asked for a detailed description of what was actually done for the "deep clean". There wasn't any real defense given other than that there were three men present. There was never any written contract prior to, and certainly not one that stated the price would reflect the amount of labor provided. After I asked to speak with someone from the main office, there wasn't one provided. I called the number they contacted me from a number of times, and a generic prompt system would end the call once I chose the number 1 or 2. After the tech stood in my doorway for ten minutes on his phone, while I stood outside, a woman called me from another unknown number. She didn't state who she was, or her role within the "company'. She couldn't provide a compromise other than also telling me that three people were required to do the job which was why it now cost $575.00, not the usual $150.00. I said that I was willing to pay $150, and she could seek legal action for the remaining difference. After I said this, she said $300, and we will terminate warranty. At this point I just wanted these strangers out of my house, and off my property. With better judgement, I probably should have notified the local police department, but I have never had something like this happen before. To make things more strange, I assumed I would write the check to the Company listed on the website, or at least something similar. I was asked to write a check to '********. They left and I stopped payment.

      Hello,

We are in receipt of your email and after thorough investigation of our appointments and customer list I believe you have the wrong company as we do not have any records of ever having an appointment with the above named consumer.
Certified Chimney Service is licensed and insured, family owned and operated, we never have a crew of 3 technicians on a truck and the prices quoted in the attached letter are not consistent with the fees or services we provide.
I truly believe that the consumer who made this complaint has the wrong company. I would like to request a receipt for the service she received so we can investigate further, please include the customer's address as nothing returned the name provided in our customer database.

After careful review of the attachments you sent with the complaint, I wanted to reiterate that Certified Chimney Service does not even service the **************** area, we are exclusively in Fairfield county.
It is unfortunate that this consumer was made to feel so uncomfortable in her own home, and we are very concerned if there are people using our good name in an unauthorized manner.
As I mentioned earlier, our technicians are licensed and insured and have identification to prove who they are.
We do not have a check or any other form of payment from this customer.

Please let me know if there is anything else you require, or if we can be of further assistance.
