1 starI went through ******* when booking a trip to ***** for myself and daughters. Flight was with Turkish Airlines. It would have been a once in a lifetime trip. I had been caring for husband who had dementia for a couple of years. My daughters talked me into getting away for a week. I did not get flight insurance. Flight was for March 7, 2025 returning on March 16. My husband went into the hospital on January 8th, then sent home on ******* February 1, 2025, given a few weeks to a few months to live. My daughters and I rotated providing 24 hour care to him. During this time we reached out to Expedia and Turkish Airlines for a refund due to extenuating circumstances. Each email, they requested one thing at a time. First a letter from the hospital Hospice team stating my husbands needs and who his caregivers would be, which I sent. Next email they wanted verification of each persons relationship to him, which were birth certificates and my marriage certificate. Then ID, drivers license. All was sent. Was denied refund by Turkish Airlines. While waiting for their response to the refund request my husband passed away on February 17th. Dealing with grief, and getting all financial issues in order I resubmitted request first full refund or credit towards a future trip, and all documents, including husbands death certificate, only to be denied again. I will never use Expedia nor Turkish Airlines again!!! One of my granddaughters had a trip planned through ***** Airlines during the time my husband went into the hospital. She called them, explained why she needed to cancel and was given a full refund immediately without having to submit any form of documentation.Review fromAbbas A

1 starThe airport ground staff has 0 knowledge regarding No Names in Given name fields. I had prior emailed their support and Chicago/Detroit offices regarding I don't have a first name only last name. However at the *** they lied about *** not accepting my name on the boarding pass, even the sales officer named ****** had lied about name change to be limited to only three chars, another team lead told its 3 chars allowed. However they're website does not mention this at all. All in all I had to talk to the *** supervisor myself and she told me everything looks fine and I should be allowed boarding pass and after that only they issued the boarding pass Essentially they wanted me to pay again for another full price ticket. I believe this is worst Airline ever with even a more pathetic support staff who has no clue about their own policies and procedures. I highly ask everyone to avoid flying with Turkish Airlines.Review fromCaroline H

1 starOn Dec 15th I was denied boarding on Turkish airline flight 18 leaving ******* ***. At the airport I was shamed and humiliated for not complying to official policy but it took a long time for anyone to let us know the issue but they kept us there for a long time. They even checked our bags and had us wait in the terminal while they lectured me on failing to abide by the passport rules. The contractors were unhelpful and the few Turkish Airlines employees there eventually let us know in the open the problem in a sort of public airing and shaming. It was a negative experience. It was bad enough that I would not be able to travel but to be insulted and treated poorly by staff was unacceptable. While I accept that I was wrong and can understand why I was denied boarding, I don’t agree with the way it was managed and that the airline refuses to compensate any of us. In fact, denying me meant that my husband and daughter could not travel either, it was for Christmastime – but the staff laughed, mocked us and told my family to travel without me. My passport is valid until May 15th 2025 – and I was flying out Dec 15th 2025. I assumed that I was ok to fly because at departure I would be respecting the 150-day passport validity rule. However I was wrong. Its based on arrival. So my passport was valid for departure and some flying time but not on arrival and I would be within 149 day, shy of less than one day. I own my error for sure. But we showed up to fly and this extenuating circumstance and mistake happened. My husband and daughter had a separate booking and their passports were valid. While the mistake of 149/150 days seems to be unfortunate, the treatment and refusal for any compensation seems unjust and unethical. Turkish Airlines is a state-run entity and it seems that if they wont budge on their 150-day policy (my passport was valid for departure and some flying time), they should at least be willing for some kind of reimbursement as we paid $6300.Review fromManu R

1 starPathetic airlines. Lost my bag for my whole trip to ***** and during my return trip they found it and gave it us and when I reported the bag being damage. They said, it's been 7 days and you didn't report in time while I did report as soon as I got the bag and they are just making me circle around their complaint and feedback and lost and found baggage ***** Never gonna travel.Review fromRati G

1 starTurkish Airlines is the worst international Airlines of all times. It is extremely rude, inappropriate and racially biased against anyone who is not one of their own origin country. I was seated in seat 30C of flight TK0079 from Istanbul to SFO from 11:45 am to 14:45pm arriving November 17th, 2024. The passenger in 31C was rude, drunk or simply racist, but he was kicking by minimally reclined seat as he complained he wanted more space. He violently and vigorously kicked my seat backrest for the entire 14 hour duration and everytime i asked the crew members to help me, they were instead yelling at me to no recline my seat at all. First off if he needed a larger space, he should have purchased a more open seat, Secondly I had every right to recline my seat as it was a long flight and a connecting international travel for me. I believe Turkish Airlines crew thought as long as I am not a tall guy ready to physically fight back the arrogant, violent 31C passenger, they were fine shutting me down. They offer no protection or assist to anyone of another race or color against disrespectful, rude, arrogant, violent, malicious people of their own nationality. I couldn't believe how pathetic their service was and when I complained to them later as well, their email said "we didn't hear about any such incidence and we can't help as our crew said nothing of that sort happened ". Turkish Airlines should not be used by anyone of color!! They will end up hurting you, and be racially charged in their collective violence against colored people. This isn't fake, I have literally experienced this, not once but twice, previouslymany years ago and now recentlyon November17th 2024. My neck and back are sore and hurting from.the violent kicking by that racist 31C passenger and unfortunately we can't do anything but write reviews since Airlines is simply sweeping the matter under the rugs. They don't deserve any stars and should be questioned by Aviation dept for Racist actions. Sick!!Review fromBianca G

1 starThis was my first time flying with Turkish airlines and MY LAST! I booked a flight to ***** from ******* ORD. They took forever boarding, we literally went past the boarding time and the hold was for no reason. I had a connecting flight at IST ********. I get off the plane to try to make my connecting flight when I got to the passport/boarding pass scan they were saying that my ticket was invalid. So I went to the helpdesk and they told me that my flight had been changed leaving **************** to ***** at 9:30 PM. When my original flight was scheduled to land in ***** at 9:15 AM. They then put me on a completely different airline which is Egypt Air. Meanwhile Im not even sure where my luggage is although they told me that my luggage was here at the airport and that it would be on the new flight but Im still not sure. So Im currently waiting in the airport until my flight, which leaves at 2:30 PM and it is now almost 9 AM. I will never fly with this airline ever again.Review fromLatifa B

1 starHello,This is in reference to a delay of baggage incident and the unprofessional customer service I received when I tried to file the claim.I flew from ****** to ****** via ********, departing from ****** on Sep 26th (TK82) and arrived in ****** on Sep 27th (TK1727). However, my luggage did not arrive in ******. It was the start of a 2 week vacation and all my belongings were in the missing luggage. I went to the baggage handler support for Turkish Airlines and was given a claim number. On my return to ****** I tried to submit for expenses incurred as a result of the delayed bag - clothes and basic necessities. However, I was told that without my baggage tag and the boarding pass it would not be possible. This is absurd! How can an airlines that claims to be best in class not be able to track down the fact that I flew to a destination and my baggage was misplaced. I sent customer service the email with the claim number which clearly confirms that my bag did not make it. I have the correspondence with the baggage handler as well. To make matters worse, when I received my baggage, it was damaged and needs to be replaced.I will be filing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau as well but Turkish Airlines already has a 1.15/5 (F) rating on there. Clearly, this airline does not care.Needless to say, I will never fly this airline and will make sure I leave this review wherever I can. Please do not fly Turkish Air!Review fromMahamat S

1 starGot robbed in plain sight! As much I used to like Turkish Airlines and fly with them for years.... something has been changing in their company and not for the good. Their customer service is indeed very bad, no supervisor/ no manager, very rude agents and not helpful at all. I had an unpleasant experience with them recently, very similar to the customer who wrote the previous comment. I went on their website to transfer the accumulated miles from one account to another, and interestingly enough, their website is quite misleading as my card ended up being charged USD 570 for transferring my own miles. I was so confused about what happened, I called their customer service several times, wasted few hours on that, sent few feedbacks online asking them to refund the money as this is some sort of mistake and they bluntly kept replying to my emails saying they don't refund any money. No way to escalate the issue to a manager, the misleading information or I would say the lack of information is indeed intended to confuse the customers and steal their money. I sent a complaint to DOT, with the proofs how deceitful their process is on the website and let's see if this will make any difference. In the meantime I think this should be escalated to a legal class action, as I'm sure there are many people who fell in the same trap.Too unfortunate that an airline, names as one of the best in the world, practices shady things like this.
