[This site requires a star rating, in fact my rating is ZERO stars]This is No longer a hotel! it is now a shelter for people who are homeless.My hotel reservation was accepted and credit card charged (at least a month prior) for a stay to begin on November 11, 2023; I did not receive notice of the change in status of this hotel ie that it now a shelter, in fact I received a second email confirmation for my reservation 2 days before my scheduled arrival! When I presented to check-in the night of Nov 11 at **************** Long Island City, NY shelter staff (and national guards?) told me the hotel had a been turned over to a shelter 3 weeks prior to my arrival. The temperature the night of my arrival was less than 45 F degrees Calls made to Wyndam customer service representatives were useless, they had no idea that the hotel was now a shelter and local hotels were fully booked! I was left without any accommodations. One of the hotels I tried (fully booked) the staff told me I was not the first person to present despartely seeking a room: a woman from another country who'd never to been to *** was in tears because no where to stay! This transfer of use of this hotel, no doubt helping the bottom line of Wyndam/its corporate parent has been completely mishandled!
