1 starThe review from **** L here is a lie. The CEO is a women and has been since 2021. Before that, it was ***** ********, who is a US citizen and lives in *****. Please remove that ********* experience with the bank: I haven't even opened an account yet, but the customer service has been TERRIBLE. Clearly untrained, if I email or use the chat the responses are **** and often have grammatical errors, and multiple agents told me they can't help and to call another customer service agent. When I do that, I get different answers for the same question from each agent. They don't know anything about the company they work for. Some of them are horribly rude and sound like they're laying down in bed, and like it's an inconvenience to be talking to a customer on the phone. I still have my questions unanswered, and I'm now waiting for a supervisor to call me to actually help me understand which account I should open, but I doubt I'll actually get a call. The customer service agents need training desperately, and if I don't get a call back I don't see how I can possibly open an account.Review fromJean L

1 starAs the ex-wife of the CEO, Id advise anyone to run from this hoax of a bank. He gave up his US citizenship/US passport to escape child support and alimony by running back to the ***********. Please research all the people involved with this bank. Im sure they all have a sordid history. Wherever my former husband is, there is corruption.Review fromLinda E

I am a congressional candidate trying to open an account for my campaign. This bank advertises itself as being "progressive" and having the experience dealing with these unique circumstances. I only had a terrible experience. The staff of this bank, do not hold the same values that Amalgamated preaches, I was at times, ignored for days, had my calls declined, questions in emails ignored, and more... It had become clear to me by week two that I was not being taken seriously and most likely considered less than customers with more money. In total, it took them nearly 4 weeks of wasting my time before I became so fed up, that I had to start considering other banking institutions. I was excited to work with a bank calling itself progressive, but this is not a progressive bank. I would caution anyone trying to bank here because of their stated values. Its clearly just something to get you in the door.Amalgamated Bank

Check deposit is so outdated. Always a pain. I have a physical disability that keeps me from writing well and so I may have to deposit the check multiple times before it goes through. All of my endorsements are a lie since they have to be redone and I will use the same endorsement over again so I can make sure to have a blank check back to use if necessary. I have contacted by email Amalgamated Bank three times about this issue and my email has never been returned. If I call about it, I always get a very pleasant person working from home that apologizes every time and can do nothing else. It is so much work to use this bank.Amalgamated Bank

I'm a first time home buyer and an SEIU union member and was referred to Amalgamated Bank because of a endorsement from the Union. I submitted all my information to a J*****h M*****k and shortly after answering a few questions I got approved for $215,000. Later on I found a property that was listed for a little bit more and I went and inquired if I could be approved for ******* and I was with little to no hesitation or issue, and when I asked for more information on the loan; terms, interest etc, I was just told "not be late on mortgage payments". With this preapproval letter in hand I decided to shop around more and place after place that I went to said the same thing, that given my circumstances I wouldn't be approved no where near that amount. So with this information in mind I'm thinking to myself something cant be right...So I emailed back and asked how this was possible and got a response of (verbatim) :"They are right. I rerun credit and some of the cards did not show up when I run it the first time.Sorry."There is no way in h*** that those details could have been overlooked without willful negligence or complete carelessness and THANK GOD, I didn't get as far as trying to close on a house. Its clear to me that either these people have NO idea what they're doing or this is a "***** Fargo" case all over again...These people are putting folks at a serious risk of loosing ******* money so do yourself a favor and avoid this institution at all cost.Amalgamated Bank

Amalgamated Bank - ************** Manager ************************************** I wanted to file a dispute and ACH withdrawal based on numerous pieces of evidence about a transaction in which a contractual agreement was breached by the service provider, which is now closed, and I am unable to reach my funds, forever gone. All because the branch, represented by **************************************, refusesd to help or file the dispute. Instead, She blamed me and gave me personal recommendations as to what I should do-- I understand the basics of ACH, the grounds on which my dispute is based, and I have a basic understanding of the banking system. My Dispute claims are valid-- One reason an ACH can be disputed is because the recipient party made ingenious claims and misled me, the sender. Another is a violation of terms of service. I gathered supporting images, documents, and evidence that supports my claims and presented them all in this email thread. All indicate fraud and are deceptive. However, no one at the bank seems to know what to do about it.So in my frustration, listening to her reasons why she couldn't help, I said that: I thought this bank was supposed to be for the people -- as they promote themselves online, a diverse, socially responsible bank with progressive values-- supposed to be people's bank; she cuts me off by saying: Sir, this isn't PEOPLE'S BANK THIS IS AMALGAMATED BANK!So here it is. The attitude, the level of disrespect... I know the dates these conversations happened so if the bank would like to listen to the recordings, they will find how their managers handle issues. And this isn't some just bank employee, mind you; she is Assistant Vice ********** ************** Manager. I should've taken the reviews seriously.Do not buy into socially responsible schemes-- they don't care about their customers.Amalgamated Bank

Got in touch with the bank. 7/22/22. Once again provided all the evidence/proofWaiting for them to do right their wrongdoing, thus, returning my funds back to my account as other banks did in this particular situation.
