1 starDisappointed in Ellevests Handling of the Betterment Transition As a long-time advocate for women-centered financial platforms, I was initially excited by Ellevests mission. However, the recent transition away from Betterment as their investment partner has exposed serious flaws in both transparency and customer care.The transition was poorly communicated and mishandled from the start. Clients were not given adequate notice or clarity about what the change meant for their accounts, nor were they provided with consistent guidance on the impact to their investments, fees, or tax implications. Many investors were left scrambling to understand where their money was going, how to access it, or what decisions they needed to make under pressure.Moreover, the customer support experience during this time has been abysmal. Long response times, vague answers, and an overall lack of accountability eroded trust quickly. For a platform built on the promise of financial empowerment, the silence and confusion during a critical transition felt especially hypocritical.Whats most frustrating is that Ellevests marketing continues to promote empowerment and support, while the actual experience reflects disorganization, lack of foresight, and minimal respect for clients financial well-being.Unfortunately, this mishandling has overshadowed any good the platform aimed to do. For those looking for reliable, transparent digital investing platforms, there are far more trustworthy options out there. 1 starIncredibly frustrated. I canceled my account last year. They charged me $130 this month for the account. Apparently $0.04 had been left in the account from interest inadvertently which kept the account open. I tried to explain the situation to customer service that this was obviously not an account that I use or intended to use and since the fee was again just pulled this month, I asked for a refund. They have sent me a note twice saying they will not issue refunds but I have access to Ellevest for another year. No. Thank. You. There was a reason I closed the account in the first place and did not agree to any more charges. Id be happy to have my refund, but frustratingly it seems they are not interested in resolving this. Completely appalled by this business for women by women - it just exacerbates the frustration.Review fromCatherine B

1 starI am extremely disappointed and frustrated with Ellevests handling of my investment account. Six months ago, I closed and canceled my account, yet they have continued to charge my bank account without authorization. After contacting their customer service to rectify this, **** followed up with me, and I was met with a refusal to refund my money, despite the clear evidence of my canceled account. This is an unacceptable and unethical business practice, and it feels like a deliberate attempt to take advantage of former ********** is bewildering that a company dedicated to "empowering women" would operate in this way. Not only am I filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but I am also prepared to share this experience on social media to warn others. I cant imagine I am the only person facing this issue. Charging individuals for a service they no longer use is not only unjust but also speaks volumes about the integrity of the company.Review fromMegan L

1 starI was charged $57 and then another $97 a few days later in the same month. I have tried calling twice to get an understanding of why and was prompted to leave a message the first time so they could get back to me. I did so and nothing. I called again today and in the middle of leaving a second message I was cut off by their system and the call ended. I am going to look into transferring my accounts elsewhere. Coming here, it appears I am not alone and dont look forward to the apparent hassle Ill be having trying to do so. 1 starI am so confused who a company who claims to want to help women, can have such difficult and unforgiving policies. I created an account when the service was free or $12/year. To be fair, I did not have much money to be investing but I loved the idea of a women-centered investing company and wanted to support such a cause. I have other money in a different investing account because it was opened through a job. I wish I was able to contribute more money to the Ellevest account but sadly I could not afford to. Their membership service went from $12 to $54. A significant jump. I was warned once months prior to the change. I immediately cancelled my recurring transfer because I knew I could not afford the membership fee. I was confused by their cancellation policy and wanted to talk to someone to see if I could transfer any of my money to my other investment accounts. Contacting anyone on their website is quite challenging as it just directs you to the **** Because life is hectic I never cancelled before my billing was due so I was charged $54. I contacted Ellevest asking for my account to be closed (apparently a long process as it is still not done) and asked if I could received any of my $54 back as I was just charged and I will not be using the membership for the next year nor did I use it for the past several months. I was told none of it can be returned, but oh joy, I can keep my account open for the next year! No thank you. I am so saddened that I opened an account because I thought I was helping other women when all I did was hurt myself.Review fromNicole B

1 starTerrible customer service. I submitted a request to close my account 6 times, submitting a new form each time. They "didn't receive" four of my forms on their website, and ignored the others. For example, the form asked for which bank account I wanted the remaining funds to be delivered to. I entered my current account, and they disregarded the form because it's not the same as the account they had on file, but didn't tell me that until one month later.They asked me to fill out the form again, or schedule a call to have one of their agents walk me through it. I opted to have an agent, since it had failed six times without their assistance. Most financial institutions have a way to easily access funds, so this has been massively ridiculous.To top it off, the agent never called, and they resent the same email to me requesting i fill out a new form or get in touch with an agent.I can't stand it. 1 starIf I could get 0 stars I would.. Tried to Close the account several times and was told several times it was done just for the recurring charges to come back In a few months. 1 star-10 STAR REVIEW!!!!I canceled my account, and they continued to withdraw funds from a seldom-used bank account. This resulted in over $100 overdraft fees associated with a SERVICE I CANCELLED. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. THEY ARE SCAMMY!!!!
