1 starFiled a claim for Central A/C not cooling. For 2 weeks, they kept saying they couldn't find a technician. I found one and used their reimbursement option but they wouldn't accept the diagnosis to authorize completion. Two weeks later and still no air conditioning. I was always given the run around and could never speak with a supervisor. We're in our mid-70's, I have many health issues and we're in the middle of a heat wave. All of the other negative reviews that I've read here also apply to our experience. This company should be forced out of business.Review fromIsham P

1 starThis company is a scam. I was having problems with my **** system. I called them reported the issue they said they would contact an **** company to come out and look at it.Well at least a week or two went by still hadn't heard anything so I called HSCW back and they said we are still trying to locate someone in your area at this point I am already frustrated because we are in the beginning of June 2023. I contacted them a total of three times and a month later finally get an **** company to come out. Which the tech from **************** was great. I stood with him the entire time of the diagnosis. He took a couple pictures of my system so I know exactly what he done. Well my claim ended up getting denied it says because based on the information that was provided to HSC it was determined that my evaporator was leaking due to rust and corrosion. Well I appealed this decision and the lady I spoke to was very rude and was already determined to deny my claim no matter what evidence or proof I had. There was never a pictture taken of my evaporator, so how could they determine it was leaking due to rust and corrosion. I was told by **************** that HSC wanted **************** to do perform leak testing on the system that would have been very costly for **************** because they would not receive any payment from HSC for there time or or the products they would have to use on my job. I do agree that my system does have rust and corrosion. But it was never proven that my evaporator was leaking do to rust and corrosion. HSC just didn't want to pay for the diagnostics cost nor replacement cost that the **** recommended.Review fromAlice S

1 starThis company is a complete scam. We paid for 5 years fo a home warranty. Our tankless water heater quit heating over a month ago. We filed a claim through The Home Service Club. It took over a week to get someone to fix it. The guy came and had no idea how to fix it. So another week went by and the next person said he would have to do some research on how to fix it. Told us he would be back 2 days later. He never showed up. So we called and he was suppose to come the next week. Never heard from him. I spent a half of a day on the phone with this company yesterday. I gave them 24 hours to get it fixed or I wanted a refund. They said they would E Mail me. Did not get any response about anyone coming the next day so I called again. I have never seen a company lie to you the way they did, trying to not give me a refund. I told them that we were just going to buy a new one and my husband could install it. They kept offering me a bunch of Bull. Finally canceled it. I am suppose to get a refund within 15 to 30 days. The problem with this company is they work with people that do not know how to work on what is not working. Also these companies do not want to work with The Home Service Club. Every review was negative!!!Review fromKathy M

1 starHome Service Club is a terrible club. They do not send repair people in a timely manner. They make it difficult to get reimbursement, as promised, if they cannot fulfill their commitment for service. They read from a script and there is no consideration . Do Not Use this Company!!!Review fromStacey S

1 starThe company sold me a 3-year contract for $1500. BIG MISTAKE! I'll never do it again! I filed two claims before I had enough with this shady company and cancelled my contract. The first claim was for a plugged toilet. I only had one toilet, so it was important to have it serviced quickly. The plumbing company said the earliest they could come was one week out. That timeframe was unacceptable, so I asked if I could hire my own plumber and get reimbursed from HSC. They said okay, so I sent HSC the paperwork they requested, but never got reimbursed and HSC never called to follow up. I complained, but finally gave up and just ate the cost. The next claim was for a dishwasher. The part couldn't be replaced, so HSC gave me a cash offer in lieu of replacement for $246. That lowball offer was an insult! You can't get a replacement dishwasher for less than $500. HSC is supposed to be warranty company that replaces appliances when they break down. Why use them if they are not going to stand by their promise to replace broken appliances when it is time to replace them? At this point, I wanted out of my contract and to be done with this company. After an hour on the phone getting bounced around from department to department, I finally got through to their resolutions department. That's where you encounter the chatty, last-ditch-effort, sales slimeballs who will promise you just about anything to keep you a loyal, paying customer, preferably upselling you to more service you don't need or want. At this point, I was onto their scheme and wasn't having it. Looking at the contract, I knew I wouldn't get my $1500 back, but I was hoping to get some of the money back. If you try to cancel your contract, they charge $45 and $41.67 for each month remaining on the contract (in my case, 19 months). Anyway, they tried to convince me, I had $0 coming back, but I kept pressing until I got a supervisor on the line who said I should get back $553.32. We'll see. I'm not holding my breath.Review fromNIKI G

2 starsAlways do your research when looking up warranty companies. I had originally selected HSC in 2019 when I purchased my property. My AC and gas powered heating units needed repair and in that situation they did find me a service provider (after a couple of days) and I only paid the service fee. So based on that experience I decided to renew with them again in 2022 thinking that they would cover REPLACEMENT of appliances. 5 months after starting my policy, my water heater started leaking. HSC brought out a provider who advised it needed to be replaced. HSC reviewed the photos of the leak and denied the claim based on rust/corrosion. The unit was 14 years old and qualified for wear and tear, yet they found a reason to deny based on "improper maintenance" that led to corrosion. Even the plumber advised that it was in good condition and was breaking down, so I appealed the denial. Once I got the case manager on the phone and fought with their ridiculous denial. He could not answer my question as to how long a water heater lasts, he kept giving me scripted runaround. (BTW water heater tanks last anywhere from **** years) I advised that I would file complaint with state attorney over their deceptive practices to deny a claim when unit qualifies for reimbursement. HSC offered partial payment ($250 towards cost of replacement) he would not offer the limited $500 that their contract offers for replacement. So I still came out of pocket over $1,000 (installation costs the same as the unit itself) Had I had more time and water heater had not broken down I would have had a friend to install the unit. I called to cancel this ridiculous policy that has no benefit for any of the appliances that are aging. The specialist asked me to wait and will try to resolve this denial and will work to provide me additional reimbursement. I will wait until Friday and see what they are willing to do. Know you have the ability to cancel your policy and file a complaint through the state attorney.Review fromEric L

1 starHorrible company. They don't pay out on items they should. They make promises of repair but don't follow through. It is almost impossible to talk with somebody with any authority. There is absolutely nothing you can do to encourage them to follow through on their promises. Stay away from them.Review fromMark G

1 starThis company is very good at processing your payment for the policy. I paid over $1000 for the warranty and I have been waiting over a month for a replacement dishwasher. The tech stated the dishwasher needed to be repaired, home service club keeps telling me day after day that we need to hear back from the tech/company. I think it would have been better not to get this warranty and to pay for these items out of pocket. I feel cheated.Review fromAlex B

1 starThis is a scam company. Their policy is designed to protect them from actually covering anything. Please read the contract before signing. They selectively choose which technicians to work with and have a default deny policy.
