I've been with *** for 2 years, I already paid off three creditors. I know when a settlement is listed on the portal, it lists all ************** amounts from the beginning so we know what we are paying & how long for. W/all settlements I had, the fees are listed as soon as a settlement is approved. W/my complete & lost settlements no fees were altered & no others were added on after it was lost or complete. So this is my concern--I lost a settlement due to financial hardship, 5/7/24 & on this specific settlement, there were only FOUR payments on 5/10/23 $1214.60, 5/31/23 $435.15, 6/6/23 $358.00 & last on 6/29/23 $668.03 from then on my fees were showing paid off & I only had creditor payments left to make. After losing this settlement, I sign in on 5/21/24 & see that TEN more fees were added, totalling $4,770.00 to start on 10/30/24. Then I see an alteration on 5/23/24, the date changed to start on 7/30/24. It was my belief that the FOUR fees listed were the only fees I was going to have to pay because that's all was listed from the beginning. I do not see that my other settlements, lost or complete, have added fees after the fact. I took screenshots to address this with them & two agents both tell me I still owe these fees even after I explained to them that these fees were not there when I first approved this ***************** were only added just after I lost it. They both could NOT explain to me why the fees were added on almost a year later.I was unable to get this issue fixed with Gitmeid/*** directly. They disregarded my concern and did not help me figure out what happened. They sent me an email saying I already addressed this but nothing was actually done. This is a huge amount they're claiming I need to pay in fees. I am already going through a financial hardship as it was mentioned multiple times to them. I dont believe I should pay fees that were added on almost ONE YEAR later & altered twice even AFTER my final fee payment was made on 6/30/23.

I wanted to pay my debts and I thought the best way to do that was to consolidate my debt I called Geitmeid law they explained to me how they would negotiate my debtors first to lower the cost of what I owed and then once negotiations were met they would pay my debtors with the money I deposited into my bank account.. whereas they had access to my bank account to get the funds for my bills and pay themI recently pulled my credit report and found out they never payed one debt ! Not even one..I want my money back I am a 66 year old widow trying to improve my credibility and these people took advantage of me knowing nothing about consolidationhow can people like this be allowed to *** **** steal from elderly people..then I sent them a notarized letter asking to terminate my relationship with them and give me my money back minus their fees they ignored the letter and started calling me two and three times a day and emailing me with a message that my deposit did not go through .if I did this to people I would be in jail I do not know how these criminals can keep functioning on a day to day basis without any repercussions to their unbridled theft of Americans

I have put 3000 in to this account and have paid them 1800 in fees and only paid off 800 dollars of my debt after a year of being with them. Only two of my accounts have been worked on out of the several that i have. I want to understand why it costs more to settle the debts then it does to pay them off. Everytime I call I get the runaround I thinks it's time to cancel and join the lawsuit being filed against them by the cfpb.

      Business Response

      Date: 07/12/2024

      Dear Better Business Bureau,

Thank you for forwarding *** ******** correspondence.  In reviewing this matter, it was immediately clear that his issue was rooted in some confusion on the accounting of his funds.  Simply put, the figures stated in his correspondence were not accurate, and so our goal was to provide him with the necessary clarifications.

For example, *** ******** letter states that he paid $1,800 in legal fees to our office.  However, the total legal fees received to date are $882.80. His letter also states that only $800 has been paid to his creditors.  This is also incorrect, as the total amount paid to his creditors is $1,208.00.  Further, weve actively worked on 5 of his matters, and 3 of them have been successfully resolved with rather good results.  Our advocacy on *** ******** behalf reduced his debt obligations to less than half of what he previously owed.  We should also note that our firm charged a legal fee only for matters that have been resolved.  Although were actively performing work on his remaining matters, we have not charged a legal fee because we do not earn a fee until a case is completed.  Therefore, ***************** currently has available funds in reserve.

Upon receiving *** ******** letter, we immediately contacted him to address the discrepancies in his figures and to answer his questions.  Our goal is to ensure our client has a clear and accurate understanding of the work performed for him thus far.  To that end, his assigned attorney at our firm provided him with detailed account ledgers reflecting how his funds are being allocated, including creditor payments and our firms legal fees.  The ledgers were specially prepared for ****************** and presented in a simple, organized format for easy digesting.  His attorney also explained the current status of his matters and sent him a visual illustration of our progress.  Should ****************** require additional clarifications, his attorney will be available to him at all times.

In consideration of the above, we will consider this matter to be resolved.  We look forward to continue serving our client in his important legal matters, and helping him accomplish his goals.  Thank you again.

      Respectfully Yours,

I have not used this business, they send emails demanding I sign paperwork and I have no idea what it is for. I will not click any links they send or open any attachments. They call and hang up when I ask who they are. I only know it is this company due to the harassing emails and calls. I block the number and they call from another. I just want them to stop calling/emailing. Thank you

      Dear Better Business Bureau,

Thank you for forwarding **** ******** issue to our attention.  Upon review, it was clear that this matter was due to a simple misunderstanding.  We recently spoke with **** ******** husband, ******************, who is a client of our law firm.  We informed ****************** of his wifes concerns, and explained that our recent contacts were attempts to reach him regarding one of his legal matters.  ****************** understood and explained that he and ******************* also received some other communications from sources they did not recognize; we believe this may have created some confusion.  ****************** provided us with details of these other communications and, after careful review, we were able to confirm they did not come from our office.

****************** expressed appreciation for us notifying him of this matter and providing clarifications.  We look forward to continuing to assist him in his legal matter.  Considering the above, we will now consider this matter closed and kindly ask that it be marked as resolved.

On or about August 18, 2020 I, *****************************, and *********************** (****) signed up for National Debt Relief with Robert S. ******************************* (Gitmeid) and **************** **** died from ***** on February 15, 2021. I called Gitmeid. I explained that **** had died. I told them that we were not married and I did not have access to his checking account. We agreed on a $163 per month money order. I was finished with Gitmeid on April 17, 2024 and am entitled to a refund of $807.83. I called them numerous times to make sure that they would issue me a check because there is no bank account attached to my name. They assured me every time, including Monday May 13, 2024, that I should receive the check by the end of the week. Today, Tuesday 14, 2024, I was told that the check was deposited in Neils checking account. I asked them, how did this happen? I did everything to insure that this didnt happen. They told that there was nothing they could do to rectify this. It was their mistake and they need to fix it and send me the money. They refused saying that it was still in ***** name. You can see from my enclosed paperwork that it was in my name. They made the mistake and should be held responsible.

I have been working with this company since October so for about 6 months, I have called repeatedly asking questions about my debt relief program, creditor calls and threats, my savings account balance, etc and I also receive the same generic responses every time about just ignore the calls and we'll reach out to them when theres enough money in your account. Well I called and asked when there would ever be enough money in my account when theyre sending everything to ONE creditor that settled, the only one that has settled because they refuse to reach out to any of the other creditors. Not even my low balance one. The woman I spoke to on the phone about this was like yeahhh I see what you mean, give it another few months and youll start seeing a balance but theres no way! I can do math and if theyre taking my deposit and sending it to my one creditor then it will never have enough for the others. But the representative said well we can always extend the life of your program what?! I agreed to 2 years and in 6 months you have only spoke to 1/6 creditors! Well this morning I was served papers by one of the creditors they refuse to reach out to and yesterday I received another letter in the mail from a debt collection agency for another creditor they refuse to reach out to!I am freaking out and they are offering no resolution, care or comfort in the matter whatsoever!

This is a debt relief program that is a scam to take all your money. They have taken over $3000 from my account and charged more fees than anyone can imagine. There is no debt relief in my furthe as they keep taking and taking and not responding to cancel or why the unknown ungodly amount they feel they are owed. I couldve taken my $3000 and paid it towards a debt. They get you to cut ties and stop paying your accounts only to take your money and ruin your credit score and history. All they do in response is send emails about their law firm. They are a scam and rip off and hope nobody else falls into this debt relief trap. I really wish I wouldve looked more into this before I signed anything.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I just want my account cancelled with them. I would like them to remove my bank account information from their system. I do not want to continue buisness with them, they have taken more money than helping me get out of debt. i could have taken their payment an put it towards my own settlement instead of paying them over an over for ridculous fees.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/22/2024

      Dear Better Business Bureau,

Thank you forwarding ****************** concerns to our attention and we appreciate the opportunity to respond.

**************** engaged our law firm on November 1, 2023 for representation on several matters involving her creditors.  In the brief time that she was our client, our firm advocated for her and was able to secure a settlement involving one of her largest creditors.  It should be noted that this particular matter was a high priority due to the creditors aggressive policies, and the heightened risk of legal action.  Therefore, this settlement not only entailed better repayment terms, but also served to help **************** avoid a potential lawsuit by the creditor.  The settlement was presented to **************** and finalized with her approval.

Further, ****************** correspondence states that she paid our firm over $3000 but this is not correct.  In fact, her total cost was $1,195.21, but only a portion of this was paid to our firm.  The remainder was paid to her creditor, and $88.10 was assessed by her savings account provider. Also, our legal fee for the above matter was earned on contingency;meaning, no fee was earned until a settlement was secured.  Our office performed work on her other matters as well, but because **************** ended our engagement prior to their completion,no legal fees were assessed for those matters.

Our office devoted a significant amount of time and effort on ****************** case.  Considering the time-sensitive nature of the matter and challenges involved, we believe the result achieved was a positive one.  Our law firm has earned our trusted reputation in the consumer-defense field for more than a decade, with the proven ability to help clients such as **************** through complex circumstances with their creditors.  We fight tooth and nail in advocating for our clients, to achieve the best results possible.  Yet, as with any law firm, a perfect result is simply not possible in every case.  **************** concluded our engagement at a very early stage, which is her right as a client. Had she remained with our firm, we are confident that our continued efforts on her behalf would have yielded more favorable results.

While we regret that **************** parted ways with our firm, she is a valued client and we appreciate the opportunity to have served her.  In addition to providing her with the above explanations, we were also happy to extend a courtesy fee discount.  At this time, we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.  Thank you again for the opportunity to respond, and for helping facilitate a resolution.

      Respectfully Yours,
