Placed funds on a book fair ewallet for my son. He had an unused amount of $40. Previously the unused balances had been refunded. Instead they converted it to an e-giftcard and now I can't get my money back. I DO NOT WANT TO PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM BUT THEY REFUSE A REFUND. Their practice is very deceptive to parents. This should be an option to receive the refund..not being forced to buy their overpriced products.Business response

First, Im in my 23rd year of teaching. From Scholastic: I have received an email invoice and a paper invoice for items I have never purchased. Ive never even purchased from Scholastic before. PERIOD. Furthermore, the phone number the invoice gives is a bogus number. I tried calling many times from my phone and from my husbands phone. It either doesnt ring or it says call failed. If this is Scholastic, or if its a fictitious company, they need to be stopped.Business response

I have been trying to receive a refund from Scholastic Inc. in regards to an order placed December 2021. They refunded my money because the order was significantly delayed. I have received statements almost every month with a credit of ******. I have called twice and have been promised that they have requested a refund check be sent out to my address. The last time I called was early June and I have still not received the check.Business response

On the evening of April 13,2023, I received an invoice for my childs book order dated October 13, 2021. The original purchase price was $32.18, and now Scholastic is seeking $114.05. How is this the first record of this invoice, over a year and a half later? Plus, all purchases that Ive made have been through secure online payment. Really! Over 350 % interest and no previous emails, mailed invoices, nor phone calls? Plus, Ive made multiple purchases since then, including a book fair yesterday. Ill be sure to keep the payment receipts in case invoices show up two years from now at 400% interest. Thanks for shaking down kids parents for your own billing errors.Customer response

My sons *** debit card has been charged by scholastic about every ***** days for an amount of $17.29. I have written and chatted with scholastic several times as I cannot find a receipt for why this has been occurring. I have contacting the debit card company to try and stop payment to scholastic with no luck. As of right now scholastic cannot tell me where these charges are coming from or supply me with any documentation. I need all of this to stop the payment and not have his educational fund be revoked due to their error. I would like any documentation to be provided as well as the funds to be replaced.Business response

Missing item Order #: ******** | Order date: Nov. 14, 2022 The missing item: **** Grumpycorn Plus Unicorn Plush $12.00 I had a large order and I understand there being issues but Ive reached out twice through email to scholastic book club customer service with no reply. I emailed them the day I received my order on the Nov. 23rd to let them know an item was missing and asked if it was coming separately. No reply. I dont have the date of the second email but it was roughly between 11/30-12/1. I have been emailing them through their customer service area on their site. Still no reply whatsoever from them. I understand delays but they havent sent me any information about the missing item and what will be done. I dont want a refund. This was the book (and plush) that my daughter wanted the most out of the whole order. It was to be an early Christmas gift and now Im just hoping we receive it at all. I would appreciate a response to what happened. If they no longer had stock at the time of shipping then a refund would make sense. If they plan on shipping my missing item, a tracking number. Any response from the company would be nice.Business response

Last year I ordered magazines through Scholastic for my classroom. I ordered in September. In December I had this magazine subscription funded through a program called *****'s Choose. *****'s Choose is a way for people to donate to classroom teachers in ways that they need support and help. This was funded fully on December 19, 2021.Today I received an invoice stating that they would be sending me to collections if this bill was not paid in 10 days. This bill was paid a year ago through *****'s Choose. I called Scholastic and they claim they have no proof of *****'s Choose funding this. I have a ID number and proof of funding from a year ago that proves this to be untrue and this bill should have been paid a year ago.Last year I called and talked to a representative from Scholastic to make sure this bill was taken care of. The Donor's Choose is under my teaching partner's name: ********************* and the **** is under my name: ************************* however the address the magazine is sent to is our work address. When we called last year we explained the situation and they assured us that it would be taken care of and because the address and grade level was the same it would not be an issue. The bill is for ****** and they are threatening to send this bill to collections, even though there is proof that this bill was paid last year. When I called Scholastic they told me I had to reach out to *****'s Choose to fix the problem and they couldn't do anything about the bill. They weren't willing to hold off on sending the bill to collection until all parties were reached and they weren't willing to help solve the problem, and were adamant that it was not paid and they had no proof of any funding happening.Business response
