Tony inspected my home, *** ****** ******* *** ***** *********** ** on 1/3/22, before I purchased it. He was referred by my realtor. My realtor was a referral from ******, I only worked with him for the sale of this home. I’m a first time homeowner. When I viewed the house, there was an evident mold problem. My realtor said to Tony during the inspection, don’t let the inspection stop you from buying the house. Tony backed him up the entire time, assuring it was a minor problem. I asked Tony during the inspection if I would need to gut the house to get rid of it. He advised the issue was poor ventilation. He said mold was also caused by the windows and would go away if the place was aired out. He provided an original mold assessment of $4,800 for remediation. The seller agreed to split the cost, which is why I purchased the house. I asked Tony during and after the inspection if he could look at the roof and asked if there could be mold on the celing or attic crawl space. I was told there was no where else to look and no issues. I had to hire another mold assessor $550. Due to mold, the house is now gutted celings to the studs. There was mold on ceiling where I asked about. Wood panels on the walls had to be removed. Hardwood floors had to go. A mold remediation contractor is currently working there. They called on 6/14 to advise they need to remove 8’ x 44’ of the subfloors, as well as all of my cabinets. The cabinets cannot be salvaged due to mold, although they appear practically new. Mold remediation is now over $10k. Tony noticed the soffit was damaged and in one photo included in his report he cut off the edge where there was raccoon poop in the upstairs loft. -I assumed it was dog feces. Come to find out the damaged soffit and poop is because a family of raccoons are living in the soffit and entire roof. Dispute all of the red flags for an inspector Tony was negligent on assessing and advising of evident issues. He offered me a refund and now won’t reply.

Tony from Business relayed to BBB:

She paid for a visual mold inspection.  She was not the owner of the house at the time.  Since she did not own the home I couldn't punch holes in the walls to further inspect for mold by NY State law.  She doesn't understand the laws.  I told her there was mold.

I tried my best to mitigate this situation but she does not understand what I can and cannot do by law.  I did offer a refund but then she threatened to sue me so at the advise of my lawyer I did not issue her a refund.

    Regards,
    ***** ******

He did not disclose the crack in my foundation that flooded my basement last week. He also did not inspect the roof when asked. I have to pay over 3k for the soffits to be replaced and raccoons removed. There was mold in all the duct work that he didn’t note that now has to be removed. I never threaten to sue him. He ignored me when I took him up on the refund. I included my attorney in the email to him asking what can legally be done. I understand my rights and NYS laws. He was negligent on verbally advising me of all issues and was lazy during the inspection. He was clearly working on behalf of the realtor to make a sale and take advantage me as a first time home buyer. If his inspection was thorough I would not have purchased this house. I do not appreciate the unprofessional condescending comments he’s made.
