I went to return a 1/8 keg to get my deposit back. They would not give my full deposit stated he would only give me 20.00 because he claimed the keg was old and it still had some beer in it. I paid 30..00 for a deposit. If they are doing this to me then they are doing this to other customers.

My name is Russell Pope owner of Griffs Beverage Center in Potsdam NY. I have read the complaint filed against my business. My response is this: we require a proof of purchase for every Keg sold, so when they return the keg, they get their deposit back of $30.00. Our policy for Kegs not purchased in our store is we will except the return, but we only pay $20.00 for the return. The person in question was told our policy. She made quite the ruckus in the store. Then my assistant manager asked her to leave if you're going to be unruly. She told my manager it was an old keg purchased threw a beer distributor that is no longer in business. I have been burnt in the past with kegs that were refused by suppliers and sometimes they will let me return them but at discounted price $20.00. I'm sorry she could not understand my policy, I wonder if she would of been so angry if it was ********* policy.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter,

    Russell D Pope

The statement that Russel.sent was inaccurate,  I was told by the  female employee a couple of months ago that I did  not have a receipt because I bought this prior to thier new policy she told me that they would honor my deposit because she knew I bought it there . When I told the man this information he told me he didn't care what she said ' He was the manager and he was only going to give me 20.00.  He then told me if I wanted the 30.00 deposit I could go to the distributor and return it to get my 30.00 deposit. I then told him he was ripping customers off and I was going to report them to the BBB .That's when he told me to get put of his store.. This store charges a deposit of 30.00 and refuses to refund the amount they received .This is no different than store who sells bottles that charge a deposit and refuses to pay the deposit when the bottles are return.
