I placed an online divorce service request through an onlinedivorce service new York divorce online.com March 2/3. I paid viacreditcard a$235 fee for the initial processing charges to file a case number (which I had returned to me as *********** two days latera email with a paralegals nameof ******* had me review the personal and sensitive information of myself and my spouse in order for the company to process a index number for divorce via ** courts. I sent my revisions back to ******* on 3/4 to no further reply or confirmation of my change to the initial information for the case. On 3/7 I resent the personal information to ******* since I never heard back from him. Still no reply.I wait a few days leave voice messages to the 800 provided to no reply..sent numerous emails asking the status of my case to no reply It was only on 3/14/24 after raising heck in my emails threatening to report them to BBB did ******* respond via email telling me that I was told ( I wonder when I was told this since we never spoke in person) that it takes 3 weeks to reply which is a red flag due to the fact I tried to reach him / customer service for service confirmation a few times and I was deliberately ignored or unanswered I sent a subsequent email demanding that my case be shut down on their end because I have no trust in this company. They are actively incommunicado and hard to reach ( they never answer the phone) it screams its a shady practice. Maybe they are not perhaps highly irresponsible and unprofessional.my main concern is my sensitive personal information that can be used for scams. I have since read similar stories about this service online and of this **************** also requested in an email on 3/14/24that they and ******* confirm my request to cease and close my case from their company to be confirmed via email ( which has not happened as of this writing) I feel, any reputable company would do so. ********************************************************************* is a house.Initial Complaint

In of March 2023 I began the process to file my uncontested *** divorce through this company. I paid the initial fee of ****** and sent over the documentation as requested by the company. I paid to have divorce papers drawn up by New York Divorce Online. I paid for these service on March 28, 2023. I have reached out repeatedly and rarely get a response back. I set the requested separation agreement on August 18, 2023. I then reached out on September 7, 2023 with no response.Customer response

I have been working with New divorce online 10/30/22. I have payed multiple fees for the Index number and the case to be filed and still nothing. they say to not call the courts because they will not have any idea, I have searched to see if the case number is valid but cannot find it anywhere. I am devastated that in the hardest time of my life that someone would defraud me using my divorce. I have received no answers. i have singed documents with all our personal details that are now with most likely a fraudulent company. I have called and never get an answer and I also got a message that the guys mom died. I am just a mess about this. I have lost hundreds and now month later am not farther. They gave me Index number: NY430515010, i called the court and this is all fraudulent. I am beyond update and the fact the ******** will not shut it down it crazy. I am disputing the zelle items. this has been horrible experience during an already hard time. this company should be shut downBusiness response

Dear BBB,
With regard to the above-referenced matter, I acknowledge this customer's concerns.
In this case, ************** hired ** Online Divorce to prepare her divorce documents in October of 2022. She received her documents one day later. All of her documents were filed on 7/5/2023 in Erie County, ** (that county is very efficient at processing divorce papers). Th* **** ****** court asked for something to be corrected and we corrected it. ************** sent us a series of emails claiming she has never received confirmation of her case being filed. Despite the fact that she received copies of the court receipt. She accused us of taking her money fraudulently and being scammed. We responded to her by giving her the clerk's number and telling her she can call over there. We then sent her a link to our customer e-file system where she could check her documents. She then sent us an email saying she appreciated our assistance and then immediately filed this BBB complaint. She consistently believes that the documents that we have filed aren't real and that she is being scammed despite the fact that she has received constant updates and constant receipts from the court including the courts phone number, web address and her case number. As you can see in the attached court docket report, ****************** documents are currently pending in front of the court and just waiting for the judge's signature. There is nothing that can be done at this point to expedite her case.

We at New York Divorce Online handle uncontested divorces. We prepare divorce documents based on information provided to us by the clients. In this case, ************** made a mistake in completing our questionnaire. She then asked us to correct her documents after she noticed the mistake. We typically charge for corrections. ************** is using your services to pressure us to provide this service for free. Remove claim to bring divorced in 4 weeks is a bold lie. I have paid for my initial set of paperwork and haven't received a thing! They keep giving excuses, two weeks, my mom died... Now having some issues with ny paperwork. I'm about to start a fraud case on these guys. Hate to see anyone else get taken advantage surrounding a divorce. My uncontested divorce is about to be contested because of this site and or people.Customer response

My apologies for the delayed response. We at New York Divorce Online, handle uncontested divorces that don't require in-person appearances in court. After engaging our services, ************ informed us that he wanted us to split up siblings - one with mother and one with father, which requires in-person appearances before a judge. This client also did not make it clear which of the children was from this marriage and which one was not. Because this case is outside our scope of services, we attempted to refund ************' money.... only to find out that he filed a chargeback on his credit card... so he already has his money back.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Delay after delay is all they did to me.
I had to file a dispute with my charge because they wouldn't pick up the phone and stopped answering emails.
The Business never offered to return the charges once. Because they only called me once.
And my case was not complicated and uncontested. If they bothered to read the intake form they require. My case concerned 1 minor child. And I the father have 3 more minor children from a previous marriage and are of no concern in this divorce. It was explained very clearly.
At this point I'd accept an apology without excuse and they can continue wasting others time and money.

Hello In the process of trying to divorce my husband I came across this company, I decided to give it a chance because I had no idea how to file the paperworks. I sent them $245 on March 22,2023 to retain there services, an additional $229 was said to me was needed to file the complaint on my behalf I was told through email. I had no problem paying for anything. This is there promises ( check pictures) . The problem is nothing has been done on my case on there part since I hired them in March 2023 it is now June 21, 2023. They have not filed the paperwork with the court because they have never sent me the index number Ive reached out to them several times and have been given the run around, Ive even been hung up on because I ask for a refund on June 21, 2023 Ive left messages and email, that one lady that always calls back is not answering my phone calls. She was very rude and said to get my money from my bank because she is not given me my money back.I hired someone else an went to file my divorce myself on 6/20/23 and I was given and index number of 733/2023 This number *********** is my case number with this company Please somebody help me Im not richInitial Complaint

I paid newyorkonlinedivorce.com $245 on 04/28/23 as well as completed paperwork that includes mine, my husbands and 2 childrens social security ***************** license numbers. I called and emailed them on 05/03/23, some lady with a Russian accent picked up and was stumbling over her words, trying to assure me that the attorneys were working on my paperwork and that I would receive the completed documents by 05/05/23, no later. I also received (2) emails confirming this. I have yet to receive any paperwork from them. I'm extremely worried because they have access to pertinent information.Customer response

Mark from nydivorceonline.com asked if I still wanted their services; to draw up the initial paperwork. I declined because I purchased my own index# and filed my own divorce after nydiroceonline.com didn't process my request within 4 weeks of paying them the $245.00 fee. I emailed ***************** and requested a refund in the amount of $245.00. There hasnt been any refund issued as of yet.

At this time, I have been contacted directly by New York Divorce Online regarding complaint ID ********, however my complaint has NOT been resolved because: I requested a full refund, but they have not issued one. They offered to draw up the divorce documents 1 month after I paid them; I declined the services. I already filed an uncontested divorce on my own. NYonlinedivorce.com NEVER provided any service and refuses to issue a refund.

Ive paid for services in February from New York divorce online. Im unable to receive any status updates from anyone. When I call i get the same woman that notifies me an attorney is working on it and I will hear something back in a few days. Shes always very short in her response and rude. A few weeks will pass and nothing. Ill call again and get voicemails. I believe this was a scam and I would like a refund but Im unable to reach anyone.Initial Complaint

I paid $245.00 for online divorce papers. I immediately called to cancel within less than 24 hrs of purchase and I emailed them as well letting them know I didnt need the papers and needed my money back because at that point no service had been provided no papers were printed or typed up so I wanted a refund, they sent me an email that I need to confirm my request which I did multiple times and they will not answer me or give me my money back
