BBB transcribed from hard copy complaint form: After they had my truck for 5-6 months they kept telling me (illegible) that the truck would be done but it wasn't so I left a bad review then they called me and told me that I needed to get my truck so I did and they did not put the transmission back into truck so I took it to another shop and they installed it and the truck still has no drive or reverse.

***** brought us this truck on a roll back , full of junk , it did not run at all . Wr had the junk removed at his request , We did have the truck here for 4 months while we let ***** make payments once he paid for his transmission , the truck was put into our rotation of 4 weeks just as we explained to him would be the process . After calling 2-3 times a week for a solid 3 weeks he said he was comming to get his truck . We already the transmission built and was ready to install when he came to pick it up . We charged him for a “Carry - In “ job .
He then took it to another shop to have it installed , the shop called us to tell us it didn’t have reverse at that point we asked for the truck or just the transmission to be brought back to be inspected, the next day ***** called demanding a refund again we asked him to bring the truck to us to fix and he did not. Then he took to social media slandering our business without giving us any chance to make it right. We feel we gave ***** every opportunity to come back here and have his truck looked at & fixed if needed. He was only interested in destroying our business and wanting a refund .

On 9/21/21 I took my car to Quality Affordable Transmission, LLC. I left the car for diagnosis. My complaint was that the transmission has a shudder. I expressed that I believed it may need rebuilt. I was called a day later and was told that the transmission did not need rebuilt. ***** recommended draining the fluid, changing the filter along with the gasket, and refilling. I approved the work, based on the expert recommendation. I accepted the vehicle back the following day. The transmission still has the shudder, and now slips out of gear while driving. I called the store, spoke with ****** who now does not remember ever speaking to me, and implied that I may have taken my car to another shop because "if he said it didn't need rebuilt, then it didn't need rebuilt." I asked for a partial credit of the previous labor toward the rebuild of my transmission, and was denied. ****** also informed me that they would not offer any assistance in resolving the concern which initially brought me to the shop in the first place and abruptly hung up after laughing. I was willing to have my transmission rebuilt there, despite the unsuccessful initial work. Based on reviews they do great work. I did a lot of research before selecting them to do my transmission work and am highly disappointed. I've invested money in an expert's diagnosis and found no support when their diagnosis proved incorrect.

Mr ******* brought his 2009 Chevy Impala into my shop complaining of a “shutter “ when he took off I had him drop it off so I can fully check it at no charge , and after driving it I came to the decision that the shutter was coming from 2 bad engine mounts and 1 that was completely broken engine mount , at this time I called Mr ******* and told him my professional opinion and agreed to the work and at that time asked us to change both axels that Mr ******* had provided and was already in his car , I quoted him a price for labor and he agreed to that work as well . Before hanging up Mr ******* asked my opinion on if he should have his fluid changed & I told him if he didn’t know when it was done last that it wouldn’t hurt and I quoted him a price for that and he agreed to that as well.
All work was done in a timely fashion and Mr ******* picked up his vehicle signed and paid for it . *See attached work order*

A month later a revive a phone call from Mr ******* demanding a refund on the basis that we told him his transmission didn’t need rebuilt and it was still acting up , never told me his name or the vehicle in question just demanded a refund & threatening to call his attorney and hung up the phone .

      *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** ********* *** ********* ********* *** **** ***** **** ***********  ********** ********

I am rejecting this response, in part, due to the following: When my call was answered, I began with "Hi, my name is ***** *******. I recently had my Impala in your shop for transmission work." The phone call on 10/24 was the final call in a series of calls that began the very same day I picked up my car after service. I expressed that I had the same shudder while driving. A refund full was not requested at any time during any conversation. I fully believe that technicians should be compensated for their work and efforts. During the conversation on the phone I asked if there were anything they could do for me for instance: a credit on labor towards the rebuild of the transmission or a reduced labor rate. I was told "absolutely not" while ****** laughed. I replied that I would pursue action with an attorney if necessary when he hung up. I brought my vehicle to a transmission shop for a transmission issue. An estimate was provided to cure the issue. This estimate also included other work. I paid to have the issue resolved, along with the other work, yet I still have the issue. That is the basis of this complaint. Call records demonstrating the multiple times I reached out canbe providedif necessary.:

      Regards,

      ***** *******

      Business response

      11/17/2021

First I ****** ***** working owner of Quality Affordable Transmissions would like to fully apologize for how this phone conversation had taken place. For what ever reason I did not understand who and what was being asked. There was a lot of confusion and misunderstanding which is why the question was asked are you sure you have the correct shop. Second Mr. ******* had brought his vehicle to us with a complaint of banging and a shutter on QuickTake off which we had diagnosed as three bad/broken mounds which we had given Mr. ******* a price to do the replacement of the mounts with labor which is the work was completed and Mr. ******* had purchased two new axles thinking that that was part of the problem so he had asked us to install them for a fee which we had done. None of that work that I just explained could we refund or change the price of due to it was asked of us to do and complete as we did. After fully diagnosing the transmission and not being able to come up with any kind of problems or concerns at this time we explain that to Mr. ******* and we came to an agreement that it might be wise to drop the pan and change the fluid, filter and pan gasket which we had only charged $100 for when our normal price is $169.95 and as we did that work the pan was clean the fluid was clean and there was no transmission codes so there was nothing that we could’ve recommended to do with the transmission at that time. This is also considered normal routine maintenance that should be done to your transmission. So as we see it there is no money to be refunded nor any neglect that had been taken place with Mr. *******’s vehicle. With that all being said we are more than happy to make an appointment and check Mr. *******’s vehicle one more time for free as we had done before to see if anything has changed with his transmission. appointment must be made and can be done by calling ************
