I paid $9500 on concrete to be poured around my pool. There are 4 pads of concrete that you can see have trough and board marks that were left behind. There are also dips in the concrete around these areas which is now holding water and some small cracks.I had 2 guys come out to inspect the concrete from other companies. They are both saying the same thing. That we need to either have the 4 pads of concrete replaced or get some of the money that I already paid back. Both gentlemen are stating this is from whomever did the troughing and finishing of the concrete. One of the guys has 40 yrs of concrete experience and the other guy has 25yrs. The crew also cut through the concrete into the shell of my new fiberglass pool. I spoke to Tom who is a territory manager from the pool manufacturer and he is stating that they need to get the shell repaired in a timely fashion before the pool settles because it could cause issues in the future. He also said the the repair would be atleast a $1000 because the repair tech lives out of state. So some of that cost would be hotel and traveling expenses. I have spoken to Josh the owner about the issues and gave him 2 options. Option 1. replace all of the pads of concrete as long as it doesn't look like a patch. Option 2 a refund. He stated that he would get back to me with a resolution for the issues. I am only filing this complaint to make sure everything is documented and that there is a fair resolution that will appease my wife and myself, and that everything is done in a timely manner. I still have other projects that are on hold now due to us waiting to find out what's going to happen with the concrete. I would be willing to take a $4,000 refund which would cover a $1,000 for the pool repair and $3,000 for the concrete. I tried to upload pictures but it says that the file is to big. Please send me an email address so I can attach all 20 photos that I have. Thanks

      **** *****

i own smith and son superior concrete. I presented the wydmyer with an estimate after meeting them on the site. After they received the estimate he told me it was out of their budget and they wanted to change layout. I reworked the quote and tried to give them close to what they wanted at a discounted price which came out to $8500. ***** asked if I would work with them and do it for 8000$ and I said yes. We set the job on a Thursday and had it scheduled to pour the following week. Over the weekend they changed the layout and added an additional 300 sq ft which at the discounted price would have cost an additional 3000$ I knew their budget was tight so I told them I would do the additional for 1500$ which is half of the price I had already discounted. I did not charge them to tear down and reset half of what we had ready. ***** had complained about the pool installer and the shape he left his yard. I finish graded his yard (which was extremely steep and time consuming) at no cost because I wanted to make sure they were happy like I did with the discount and additional work. I also sent him pics as I was grading it to make sure he likes it and he asked me to add a little more here and there. So I did. I also hauled away large rocks from his house at no charge.

There are trowel lines in the concrete and most can’t be seen unless it’s wet or the sun hits it at the right angle. It is a slow drain because of the shape of the layout being against the house 3 times, steps and had to drain away from pool. When the control joints were cut the top of the pool did get cut and Tom reassured him that this did not affect the warranty nor was it a structural issue. Strictly visual. ***** told me when I was there he could live with that as long as it didn’t affect his warranty and it does not. I have talked to ***** and I am taking care of the cuts. Concrete is not perfect and it doesn’t matter who pours it there will always be defects/blemishes. There is not one thing wrong with the functional operation or structural integrity of the concrete.

When we finished ***** texted me and told me Everything looked great and send him a review and he would fill it out.
I also talked to ***** today and we are trying to work to a resolution. I just think with the effort and discount we have already given and the fact that he is leaving the concrete “as is” the amount he is asking for is out of line.

      Thanks,
