During a visit on 11/6/2023, a test that is considered elective was performed without prior authorization from my insurance, or notification to me beforehand that it was elective, and that I would be financially responsible. In disputing the bill, I determined that The Urology Group is practicing fraudulent billing practices. I signed a form that "acknowledged" I would be responsible for elective procedures if insurance decided not to pay, but they did not explain that to me prior to having the test, giving me an opportunity to inquire with my insurance first before just giving me the test. In addition, the form I signed was six months after the procedure was completed. So, the "acknowledgement" is not valid for said test.

First time patient at The Urology Group Fairfield in Oct 2023 having symptoms for prostrate. During my visit I didn't know what to expect. The front receptionist handed me a cup with no instructions. I sat in waiting room and then was called back by a nurse. The nurse looked at the cup and said, "What's the matter...having trouble getting it out?" I responded, "no, it was my first experience and no one provided any instructions or directions. So she showed me to a restroom and asked me to urinate in the cup. Once I was in the patient room, Dr. K**** arrived and asked a few questions and said he would need to schedule a surgery. I was very concerned with this response. No test, no blood work, nothing was completed that day to say I needed a surgical procedure. I was given a document for the surgery and it stated I would be contacted by their office within 10 days. 10 ten days passed and there was no contact. 1 month passed and no contact. So finally in Dec 2023, I was concerned and called the The Urology group. They asked when I wanted to schedule my surgery. My response was I don't need a surgery...you don't even know what's going on. So I made a verbal complaint that day about the lack of instructions, the unprofessionalism of the office staff, the nurse's comment, and Dr. K**** rushing into a surgery without any details. So I requested a refund of my $50 co-pay. The office manager said she would need to look into this matter and would call me back. I never heard back from anyone. In Mar 2024, I received a call from a collection agency about paying a bill from The Urology Group. I said I've never received a bill and I was told they are looking into this matter. The Urology Group never looked into this and never responded. It is now April 2024 and I have contacted their office speaking to Mary, Amanda, and Tami M******, who is the office manager. Tami was not willing to resolve this matter because she said my health was my responsibility.

In contrast to other medical providers I had appointments with at the beginning of 2024 I was forced to pay the $240 ******** deductible before having a necessary biopsy. This was despite informing them at check in that I had prior appointments in January which would be billing me for the deductible. When i was recently billed I was told The Urology Group was “asked” to not make any refunds due to the recent computer hack in the healthcare industry that occurred and that I would be put on a list for refund via check sometime in the uncertain future. I was further advised by Stacie in the business office it was the policy of the urology group to get The ******** deductible paid before seeing a provider. This amounts to extortion in my view as no other provider I have dealt with does such a thing Stacie indicated the checkin rep should have called “upstairs” when I advised her of my prior appointments. Meanwhile they are collecting deductibles from others with the intention of holding our money until convenient for them to refund it if required. As a retiree, I don’t think I have to impress on anyone the impact this makes on us in this current economy.

A test was performed, however there was never any mention of the cost or that it would not be covered by insurance. I was never provided an estimate as to my cost for the test. When I received my bill I protested to the amount and I also contacted my insurance. During the review I received another bill for the same amount. I indicated to the billing department that I was in the process of disputing this amount. They area EXTREMELY RUDE!!! They did not give me any time to get this resolved before sending me to collections. I then paid the amount of the bill, however, they had applied a 30% late fee!!! The 30% late fee amounts to over $160!!! This is a RIDICULOUS amount of money!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!

My name is ***** ********** and I was a patient of Dr. K***. In December 2020, I got infected with Covid-19. I was very sick and nearly lost my life. I have Post-Acute Sequalae of Sars Cov-2 (lingering effects from the virus). While dealing with this, I also developed a kidney stone that was 2.5 mm. I was referred to Dr. K***. I had a stent placement, stent removal, and cystoscope to get the stone out. I really appreciate Doctor K*** for getting the kidney stone out. The procedures went very well and the staff was great at the Norwood location. However, I had an issue with my bill where I was incorrectly charged. This continued for almost 4 months. I was first told by the billing department that my insurance was not in-network. I proved to the billing specialist that it was in fact in-network. Then I was blamed by the billing manager and the billing director for creating the error. I continued to try and get the issue resolved, but never received any calls back from the Director. I never received the bill from the Urology Group. I had my insurance EOB but not the bill. I kept asking to speak to someone who could assist and get the errors resolved. I ended up being connected to Mr. W***. It was a very upsetting and inappropriate phone call. I explained to Mr. W*** that I had been very ill, I had survived Covid-19 and got this kidney stone. And one of the added stressors was not being able to get a hold of the billing department to have my bill corrected. And then to make matters worse, I was blamed for their error and yelled at. Mr. W*** then accused me essentially of complaining too much and said that I was trying to get out of paying money to the center. He also threatened to have me discharged as a patient. I repeatedly told him that I really liked Dr. K***’s service and the center. I am disabled and not able to drive far, so the Norwood Location is near my home for convenient travel. I explained to him that I had been very sick from long covid. And Mr. W

The doctor the patient is referencing is not one of ours and she is not one of our patients.  From what I see on the internet, it is Dr. K*** in Norwood, OH she is referencing both by name and location.
