This funeral home has been in business for years and has provided outstanding service in past. I recently buried my mother (June, 2022) and experienced HORRIBLE service. When we contracted with Gaines, under the direction of Kenneth *****, services we paid for were not performed. Among the general services we were charged for, we requested an organist/soloist, burial shroud and headstone. We DID NOT receive the shroud (which Mr. K**** did address timely so that I could purchase necessary garments), and for whatever reason the organist/soloist did not show, which completely set a disastrous tone for the service. The domino effect that created was very challenging for the person who officiated the service but nonetheless, we preserved. Following the service and arriving at the gravesite we discovered that there was no one there to receive that body which was even more distasteful....who operates a business as such???? As time went by, although nothing was for forgotten, things were set aside only to learn the the order for headstone (after speaking the monument service) HAD NOT been processed until yesterday (3/7/2023).....this is just unacceptable!!!! On last year, I was somewhat compensated and reimbursed the services that I did not receive AND/OR was overcharged (the escort cars) but, the memories of what should have been a beautiful send off for my mother was just shattered and definitely unforgettable. One would think it would have ended last year only to find out it's still haunting me with errors that basically are inconceivable OR total unnecessary!!! Please, please inform others to provide constant follow up with regards to Gaines Funeral Home!!!! I would still like to believe in them as I did in past (as they did a wonderful job with my father) but it is extremely difficult to do when working with a staff person that has NO empathy, feels as if he is doing you a favor and most importantly doesn't REALLY care to provide efficient positive service!!!!
