LAZ has been attempting to collect non-payment fees from me where (1) I absolutely paid for parking and (2) I provided proof of such payments. I have been waiting for nearly one month for your appeals department to invalidate two improperly assessed parking violations. As a side, I do not understand why I have to provide information that LAZ should have access to in its system. I sent a follow-up email two days ago asking for the status of the appeals only to get a one-sentence response simply saying the notices are still open. It does not appear that they are interested in resolving this matter. I reached out to customer service but have yet to hear back. I am hoping that the customer service department would be so kind to push this process along as I did, in fact, pay for a full day of parking on the days in question. I provided screen shots of the receipts and parking passes (attached) as requested by the appeals department early in January as the LAZ app does not offer the option to print either, yet I have no resolution.

On Monday 11/14 I got a parking ticket in a zone that by the way is not clearly marked, and received a $30 ticket. For being a $3 lot, $30 is a little extreme, but that’s not my point now. On Tuesday 11/15 I mailed a check because the online system was not showing me my ticket charge so I couldn’t pay it immediately. It’s been a week and the check has yet to be cleared and I mailed things out that same day and those have been received. I will not be paying a higher charge if this extends pass 13 days. I tried paying it on time and now it’s an issue for LAZ

Complaint against LAZ Parking ** *** ***** ************ ** *****  I parked at a garage in Grand View Yard, in Columbus Ohio. The garage had no marking on the outside that it was privately owned and had marking fees. The garage is connected to my employer's building and is unmarked. There is no gate to enter, no gate to leave. IT is a completely open parking garage, covered with multiple levels. (Not an open lot) NOTE: There are numerous other free lots all around these buildings. For this one unmarked one to create this "parking tickets" that resemble one from the city is a total sham. NOTE: I sent in a protest of charge which was on their "ticket" of which I never heard back from them and all I received was some nasty emails about towing my vehicle, putting a boot on it, and state income tax interception. Thanks in advance. I appreciate having an organization like the BBB to address shady businesses with shady business practices. - **** *********

      Dear ******* **********

You appealed this citation 05/18/2022 and the appeal was resolved 05/19/2022 and the attached judgement decision email was sent to the email address you input the portal “***********************”. You stated in your appeal statement below that the “garage is connected to your company’s building” then you are aware that the first floor of the Grandview north garage is short term parking for the business in the area. And the Nationwide employees and the residents for Manchester building park in the gated section of garage therefore you should have a pass to the upper level of garage.as you see the attached documents we resolved and replied to your appeal in a timely manner. This citation and associated fine has been reduced to a warning only as a onetime courtesy. No payment will be necessary. Please note that the entire first floor of the Grandview Yard North Garage is enforced as a three-hour max parking zone, as indicated by the signage posted all throughout the area. This means that the three-hour time limit begins the first time the vehicle is parked on the first floor of the garage and does not reset until the new day begins, regardless of how many times the vehicle enters/exits the facility. Additionally, there is always free parking in the South Garage.

      Thank you.

Response from ******* on original Appeal - ‘As a private parking garage with no acknowledgment from a driver as you enter that this is private property and only authorized parking is permitted and then assume you can ticket like the government does is wrong. Additionally your garage is connected to my companies building? Misleading! That said NOW that I know “from this fake ticket”. You are a private garage, I am willing to pay a $5 fare market value for parking there. I am not paying a ticket but willing to pay a parking fee of $5.’

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because the issuer said because I work for the company who
Is attached to the garage I know the policy.

First off the garage policy should not be something that is not clearly posted on the garage, which it is NOT.
Secondly, I work downtown and was visiting that site.  I rarely have been over there.  The assumption this company is making is a false assumption.

Please follow back up with them and correct their inaccurate statements.
Additionally they are not taking accountability for their lack
of clear marking which is an obvious sign they are doing this intentionally to gather revenue through this intentionally unmarked pay to park garage.

I see others have also had this issue and believe it is the responsibility of LAZ parking and the 3rd party company ParkMobile to resolve this issue instead of punishing the consumer. I parked at the Arena Crossing Lot around 7:30am on 9/08/22 to meet some colleagues for breakfast. I was running behind and went to the cafe and pulled up my phone to choose the zone and submit payment. However sitting at breakfast with colleagues I could not find any zone number in the ParkMobile app. I have attached screenshots of the app and how the zone is not there. I did not remember the number and couldn't leave the meeting. I came back around 9am to a parking ticket violation at 7:39am. I am frustrated as this is not entirely my fault and is a technical issue that needs fixed. I submitted an appeal and described what happened and have included the response. "Payment report history at the portal shows multiple completed transactions around the time of the issued citation and every day. We are unable to locate any evidence that would suggest the parking payment machine was experiencing any technical issues. Please pay the fine online Violationsparking.T2hosted.com or via check/money order mailed to the address listed at the bottom of the ticket. Thank you." Clearly, LAZ parking is not intune with there own practices but the machine is shut down and you can only pay through the app ParkMobile. As can be seen by others apparently the zone is 5911 but a $30 charge is extreme and should be dropped and the issue fixed.

      Business response

      09/13/2022

      Dear ***** *******,

This is valid for non payment at the time of the issued violation. There are signs posted over the old machines showing the zone number and regarding how to pay via the Park Mobile app.  There is signage in multiple places of the lot showing the barcode you can scan on your mobile phone, zone number you can type into the Parkmobile app, and a text to pay option and toll-free number you can call to pay your parking fee. Parkmobile permits are not retro-active, so if they are purchased after a citation has been issued, the citation is valid, and cannot be waived. Parking should always be paid for immediately after parking your vehicle. As a onetime courtesy, this citation and associated fine has been reduced to the 5 hours parking rate available at the Arena Crossing Lot of $11.00. Please pay this fine online at ViolationsParking.T2Hosted.com or via check/money order mailed to the address listed at the bottom of the ticket.

Went to the clippers game go to park all the electric in the city goes out. Kiosk isn’t working I call the host with LAZ parking she said not to pay because she had no way to take payment since the kiosk wouldn’t work. Come out from the game and I get a $ parking ticket not to mention the host took my License plate number and said I was okay. I call the company they make me write and appeal on the website and no one responds so I get a bill and call the company back and they give me ***** ********* email. He is the manager I take it. So I email him about what happened and he sneakingly sends a $5 bill attached since he lowered it. I go online to pay the $5 the fee is not fixed so I email ***** and he doesn’t email me back with any instructions. I log in the next three days to pay and the fee is still not changed you can’t get ahold of him because he hides behind a computer all day. Here I am waiting on a new bill to come in the mail and today I get another bill for now $45. Like come on so I call the office and X Gets smart asking me who I spoke to about a $5 bill once I tell her ***** she backs up and says oh you need to talk with him. Talk smh you mean email so I email him and instead of making the $45 back to $5 he is literally unprofessional talking to me through a email. So unprofessional with the amount of annoyance this has caused he needs to foot the $45 and $5 bill to show that customer service is key and since I was lied to from the beginning. I feel like I’m being harassed and they even threatened to go after me if it’s not paid bad way to do business. He is stating he mailed a new bill but his company failed to do so which resulted in me not being able to pay the bill.

      Dear ******** *****,

As you can see from the attached picture of the machine, the signage posted on the machine and throughout the lot states that the machine has been replaced to mobile payment only therefore it could not be affected by a power outage. You appealed this citation 06/15/2022 and the appeal was resolved 06/15/2022. The fee was reduced to $5.00 and the attached judgement decision email was sent to the email address you input the portal (************************). On 06/29/2022, a courtesy notice letter was sent to address below to remind you the citation is not paid and has been outstanding for more than fourteen (14) days which accrued the $15 late fee making the new total due $20. On 8/15/2022, final notice was sent to the address below to remind you that the citation is not paid and has been outstanding for more than (45) days resulting in the new $45 charge. Due to the time elapsed, and the expenses incurred with locating vehicle owner information, mailing letters, database expenses, etc., we are unable to waive the entire late fee. The fee will stay at the $20 due as there were multiple attempts to collect this balance.

      Thank you

GAs we have already reduced the fee from $45 to $20 as stated previously and the original payment method would not have been affected by a power outage (mobile payment), there will be no refund or further reduction in the cost of this ticket. Again, this is due to the time elapsed in paying the ticket as there was 14 days to pay the original $5 and no payment was made. As the previous attachments show, this rate was available for 14 days pm the website, then a $15 late fee was applied because of non-payment.

I parked my car at Arena Crossing Lot operated by Laz parking at 437 N Front St, Columbus, OH 43215 on 7/9/2022. Since the parking machine has been replaced with mobile payment, I followed the instructions on the sign, entered zone #5911, selected 1 hours, entered my license plate number and completed the payment online by apple pay. I received the email confirmation from parkmobile and it shows payment date & time, which is 11:39am EST on 7/9/2022 and $1.25 amount including the transaction fee, payment method, my license plate number in the description and parking reference. However, Laz parking left a parking violation ticket with my car at 12:03pm on 7/9/2022 for no payment without verifying the payment data & license plate number in their system. They did not provide any contact phone number and I was forced to submit an appeal thru their website on 7/9/2022. I received the notification of decision from Laz parking on 7/11/2022 and my appeal was denied and they claim my receipt is not showing a location number or a plate number. And my plate number was not recorded in their payment system on that day and the amount of $1.25 is not available in their location. I scanned my original email confirmation and re-submitted to them but have not heard anything from them. Their receipt does not show location address or end time but that is not consumer's fault. They should be able to verify end time and location by my payment data, plate number, zone# 5911, payment amount and etc. I consider this as a scam charge and fine amount they are asking is outrageous, $30!, $45 if not paid within 13 days, $70 if not paid within 44 days!!! This kind of shady business practice should not be allowed. I even suspect this company intentionally replaced the machine with mobile payment and made it impossible to show proof of payment on the dash, scare consumers with violation tickets with limited contact info and simply deny appeal without proper investigation. This has to STOP!

      Business response

      07/14/2022

      Dear **** *******,

As referenced in our Appeal Response, the information you attached in your appeal was not a valid receipt for parking.  Park Mobile, which is our 3rd party payment processor, emails multiple documents after payment is accepted.  Reference those emails for further details and your parking receipt.  As a suggestion, you could also reach out to Park Mobile to confirm Payment Location, but our records provide no indication you paid for Parking at the Arena Crossing Lot, Columbus, Ohio.  If proof of payment with our location can be provided, the fine and citation can be voided.

Our research suggests that when you attempted to pay for parking at the Arena Crossing Lot, Columbus, Ohio (Zone 5911), you selected the wrong city from the drop-down menu on the Park Mobile App. Zone 5911 is not unique to Columbus, Ohio.  There are 8 such zones located throughout the USA and not all of them are owned or operated by LAZ PARKING.   From the menu, you possibly selected Amherst, Massachusetts (Zone 5911) as your parking location instead of Columbus, Ohio.  Columbus, Ohio (Zone 5911) does not offer a $1.25 rate so we are confident it was not our Lot.

As a one-time courtesy, we have reduced the fine for failing to pay for parking at Arena Crossing Lot, Columbus, Ohio to the daily maximum for the Lot.  The rate is $15.00. Please pay citation online at Violationsparking.T2 hosted.com or via check/money order mailed to the address listed at the bottom of the ticket.  I hope this detailed explanation and reduced rate answers your concerns.  Thank you for your business.

It seems there are location selections on parkmobile, I should have selected the Columbus OH location.

I still think using the same zone# 5911 for multiple location is really bad practice and has to stop.

On May 20, 2022 I parked in an uncovered LAZ parking area for an event in downtown Columbus OH. At 6:30 pm I paid for 3 hour parking. After inserting my card and choosing the 3 hour option, the box asked for my parking spot number and my license plate number. After submitting the information the electronic box I paid on with my card did not produce a ticket or a receipt. But I did get a confirmation I did pay for three hours, and my bank statement now shows I paid. When I arrived back to my vehicle I had a parking ticket on my window that was time tagged at 7:54 pm, and marked for not having valid parking permit. Now no one has picked up after calling the number on the ticket for me to dispute this claim that; 1) I was not provided any receipt or ticket to place in my vehicle, or 2) there was no plain notice that I needed to place the ticket in my window. Also, if I needed to show a ticket, then why did the machine not provide me with any form of paper so I could place it on my dash? So far seems like a $50 scam to me because every vehicle on the lot that day had one or two tickets on their window.

On 1/22/2022 I parked in a lot adjacent to the Nationwide Ice Haus for an low-attendance open skate. It was dark and there were no signs on my spot stating that it was pay to park, nor was there a meter, nor a gate or attendant at entry/exit. On 2/19/22 I parked in the McConnell parking garage. I attempted to pay for parking and the meter wasn’t working. Several people were having the same issue. We called the number and they just said to “keep trying”. It would not accept any of our credit cards. We didn’t know what to do so we left. When we got back we all had tickets. We found the man giving the tickets and explained what happened. He said he couldn’t reverse it, but to file an appeal online and they should accept that since it indeed wasn’t working. That night I filed an appeal. The appeal said it would EMAIL me when a decision had been made and that time would NOT count against me for late fees. I heard nothing. Never received an email (yes, I checked SPAM), received no 14 day notice. Then I received a notice saying my ticket was now $70 instead of $30! I emailed them to say I never heard back about my appeal. They couldn’t give me proof of an actual email being sent despite asking several times for proof that an email was sent. I called my friends who had appealed and they didn’t get an email either. They also didn’t get the 14 day warning letter before getting the $70 notice. They refused to lower the ticket back to $30. I will pay the $30 if my appeal was not approved, but $70 is robbery for something that was the company’s mistake. The employee who emailed me back was rude and clearly couldn’t care less that they were ripping people off. I will never park in another LAZ lot. Paying $70 for parking there for less than 2 hours is ridiculous. How can I get a final notice when I never got an answer to my appeal or a first notice?? Do better, LAZ parking.

I am rejecting this response because: I never received the email stating my appeal was denied and when I asked for proof that it was sent, they could not provide that. I checked all my folders, including spam. And then I never received the “courtesy” letter. The same thing happened to my friend who also didn’t get an email or letter. This is irresponsible of the company to claim they responded when they didn’t. This does not resolve my issue. I should not have to pay the extra fee when it was the company’s failed communication. I would pay the original ticket cost. You can’t tell me sending an email and supposedly mailing something costs an extra $40 on top of the $30 ticket. Please just be reasonable about this. I would have paid my ticket if I had received the denial but once again, I DID NOT.
