I am a designer meeting my client at his condo in downtown Columbus. I didn't know that I had to park at a meter...I didn't know ahead of time so I only had one credit card on me with little money on it. His furniture was getting delivered and it took more time than planned. I left just after 5pm and ticket was issued at 5pm. I saw no one around to talk to. I don't think this is fair since the meter had just expired. The ticket is for $30 and now they said I have to pay even more. Please help me resolve this! Thank you!

This meter requires payment 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays, up until 10.00PM, and authorized vendors should reach out to parking management for approval of accommodations prior. This citation was issued on January 8th, 2022, and the fine amount is currently $30.00. A late fee will apply if the payment is not made on January 22nd. Please pay the fee online at ViolationsParking.T2Hosted.com or via check/money order mailed to the address listed at the bottom of the ticket.

My husband went to a business that was downtown Columbus but could not find their marked parking. He parked in a lot and did not see any place to pay. He went into the business and asked where to park and walked back to his car. In this less than 5 minutes he received a ticket. Now Laz is wanting us to pay $75 and threatening to send me to a collection agency.

The night of 12/8/21 we were headed to see a concert starting in 30 minutes. The parking kiosk accepted my card, then said to remove card. Then the screen went black. A few seconds later, the screen lit up at the beginning. Called the helpline number that was posted next to the kiosk. They told me to try it again while on the phone with them. I did, same result. The kiosk help attendant told me he did not have a resolution, just to keep trying it. And the “Might” send someone down to help. I tried two more attempts before leaving. Hey LAZ…fix your broken kiosks, or have a human handing out paid parking permits. When I returned to my car, there was a violation on my windshield.

      Dear **** *******,

This is a valid citation for failing to display a parking payment receipt / permit. As you can see the attached documents of the Vine Street pay station on December 8th 2021, the payment report history for this machine shows multiple completed transactions both cash and credit card payments throughout the day. However, your license plate number is not in the payment portal report. We are unable to locate any evidence that would suggest the machine was experiencing any mechanical issues. For visitor’s convenience our command center phone number is posted on the machine so customers will call for assistance if they have any issues paying the machine, there are also signs posted in the lot regarding how to pay via the Park Mobile app. Please pay the $30.00 fine online at Violationsparking.T2hosted.com or via check/money order mailed to the address listed at the bottom of the ticket.

      Thank you

I drove to Columbus with my son and 2 friends to watch the high school soccer finals at lower.com field on 11/13/2021. It was dark after our 2 hour drive, and there was limited signage as to where to park. I found an open lot, with no one working, nothing blocking the entry, and no way to pay. I assumed since this was only a high school match, and the stadium had hardly any spectators (most seating sections were closed off) that we were good to park for free. It was a very low profile event in terms of attendance. Upon returning to my car, I found a $30 fine! Still, no parking attendant or method to pay in sight. We entered and exited the lot correctly (parked correctly), and at no time saw an attendant or a way to pay. Now, I got something in the mail that says it went up to $45, and it will keep accruing over time. I'm sorry, but this is not right. I am happy to pay for parking if there had been ample signage or someone working there to collect money. We drove 2 hours, arrived at dark, and saw no way to pay or reason not to park there.

Thank you for your response.  I've learned that parking that night was $10 in the lot I parked in.  I'm happy to pay $10.  Again, there was no visible signage when I arrived at dark.  The entry and exit were wide open.  There was no gate, no attendant, no kiosk, no visible way to pay that I could see.  I looked for a way to pay, but couldn't find any.  This was a high school soccer game, which had a very low attendance, so I assumed parking was free.  I think this is reasonable as I've never had to pay for parking for a high school soccer game.  Had I known how/where to pay $10, I would have.  I hope you accept the offer of $10 (original parking fee), I think it's reasonable

      Dear ***** *** *****,

The fine has been reduced to $30.00. As shown previously, there is signage at the location in multiple areas so the citation is valid. Please pay the fine online at Violationsparking.T2hosted.com or via check/money order mailed to the address listed at the bottom of the ticket. This citation record will be forwarded to our collections vendor in the name of the registered vehicle owner and all late fees will be reapplied if still unpaid on Friday, December 31, 2021.

      Thank you

Again, there was no way to pay I could see.  No one worked there.  No gate.  No kiosk.  A completely unrestricted parking area.  I am not from Columbus, I drove 2 1/2 hours.  It was pitch dark when I arrived.  I had never been to the lower.com field before.  It was a high school game.  I bought my tickets to the soccer match online, parking was never mentioned.  My car was parked legally.  I was able to enter and exit the parking area with no one asking for money.  I didn't see anyone else paying.  It seemed reasonable that parking was free for a high school game with hardly any attendance.  My son plays travel soccer and I've never had to pay for parking in 10 years of watching him play.  I'm happy to pay $10, which I found out was the original parking fee that night.  If you cannot move the fee to $10, the original cost of parking that night, I'm afraid we aren't going to resolve this.  If you want to waste more time and money in collections, that's your decision to make.  I can promise you I won't pay more than $10 for parking that night, with all of the circumstances surrounding the parking area, visibility, no one working, no entry/exit restrictions, no sign of a way to pay, etc.  I will vehemently fight this in collections should it go that far.  This was an honest mistake and $30 is outrageous.  I hope you reconsider for the sake of the current state of affairs.  The pandemic has affected everyone's ability to work, travel etc.  Take the $10, spread some good karma and call it a day :)

      Regards,

      Scott Del Torto

I was in my car last night in a parking lot when I first arrived at a lot. After sitting there for about five minutes I moved to a different spot to get closer to the pay station as it was raining. As I put my receipt on my dash inside my car and stepped out, I saw a parking violation on the back of my car. I was in my car the whole time and did not see a person once come to see my windshield/dash to see if I indeed purchase a parking pass. I did indeed and would like an apology and the waiving of my parking ticket.

      Hello,

This is a valid citation but we will be reducing this citation to a warning. The car was parked in a space and had not paid when the citation was issued. Attached is evidence of payment not being completed at the time the citation was issued. Unfortunately this lot has to be enforced this way due to Uber and Lyft taking spaces away from our customers.

      Thank you

I accept the business's response to resolve this complaint. However, the process in handing out tickets has many flaws such as not giving me time to get out of the car to pay as well as not checking windshields to determine if one has paid or not. Thanks

On 8.27.21 I parked in the 300 Neil Ave garage for a Columbus Crew match. I parked at the end of the row in a space designated as “compact car”. I backed into the space with my rear bumper 2” from the wall and my tires touching the outside (driver's side as my vehicle was parked) parking line. When I returned after the match I had received 2 tickets, 1 for parking in a compact car spot and 1 for double parking. I drive a '20 Buick Encore. Per the manufacturer the vehicle is 168.4” in length. The etymology of the word car shows that it was derived from the Latin word carrus. Carrus means wheeled vehicle. The signage that is posted doesn’t clearly prohibit SUVs. If the operators of the garage mean compact sedan as opposed to compact car, then the signage should be changed to reflect their desired definition. The U.S. CFR defines a compact car as a vehicle that has an overall length between 161" & 187" my vehicle clearly falls with the overall length of CFR definition.

This is a valid citation for being parked in a compact car space. Sport Utility Vehicles are not permitted to park in the compact car spaces at this location due to their height and size, regardless of if they fit in the space or not. The objective of the Compact Car only spaces in this garage are to allow for greater visibility for vehicles making turns. As a onetime courtesy, this citation and associated fine has been reduced to a warning only. No payment will be necessary. Future citations may not be waived.

My daughter was getting senior pictures taken in the Arena District and we finally found a parking spot. The sign by the spot said “Two Hour Parking” and there were big vehicles on each side of us. We were literally there for less than 5 mins and I noticed someone putting something on my windshield. When I asked the guy about it he was rude and said the meter was expired. When I asked about what meters, he rudely pointed them out to me. When we pulled into that spot, I didn’t even see the meters as they were blocked by the other vehicles on each side of us. I wouldn’t intentionally not put money in a meter because I put money in 3 other meters during the photo shoot prior to that! I tried to explain my side but he continued to be rude. I told him that the situation was ridiculous and got into my car. That’s when my 17 year old daughter heard him shout ***** ***” to me and flicked me off. Tried to appeal, but website had an error like others have reported. I appreciate your help.

      Dear ******** ********

This is a valid citation for the vehicle being parked at an expired meter. The parking meters stationed on ****** ******* Square are privately owned and operated by LAZ Parking and are not affiliated with the City of Columbus in any way. These meters, per the language printed on the front, require payment 24/7 365 until 10PM, including holidays. As you can see in the attached pictures, the Burnham meters are located in front of the parking spaces and are visible when pull into the parking space. As a onetime courtesy, this citation and associated fine has been reduced to a warning only. No payment will be necessary. Future citations may not be waived.

I am rejecting this response because: 1) my vehicle was not a sport utility vehicle2) the definition of a compact car my vehicle fit the description due to the year of it is why it was not classed as a compact car! I also know that you handed out warning letters on everyone else’s vehicles and I am the one person you did not hand one out to and one person did receive a warning for parking in the same space ! I don’t understand why that guy in the office has such a problem with me !

I was given a parking violation ticket in June of this year when visiting Columbus. The ticket was issued in a lot with limited signage (none near the entrance of the lot) and on a weekend where most of the meters were free. I did not see any place to pay for parking so assumed it was a lot provided by the company. When I returned to my vehicle I had a ticket. Fast forward 2 months later and I received my first ticket information piece of mail in the mail because of moving locations and the penalty has increased from a small fine to $75. I reached out to the company because of my change of address and not receiving the ticket in the mail and they would not allow any deduction from fees or explanation as to why the parking lot has such little signage encouraging people to pay before they park.
