1 starSynchrony Bank is absolutely horrible!!! Would give 0 stars if I could. It is unfortunate that businesses such as Lowe’s and other big names use this bank for their credit cards. Had Care Credit and Lowe’s cards with them - making on time payments in excess of the minimum due - never missed a payment, paying earlier than the due date- which apparently they have a problem with. They closed my Lowe’s account and lowered the limit on the CareCredit account. Buyers beware!!!!! DO NOT do business with Synchrony. You will regret it!!!!!!!Review fromScott V

1 starThis is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. They even surpassed Bank of America for me. I closed about 6 accounts, including PayPal and Lowes. I will never have another card backed by this bank. Part of the issue was a mistake on my side about when a interest free purchase expired. I paid the balance, including their crazy interest and was charged interest the next month. Apparently they are the only card I have ever seen that charges interest after the statement drops. Any others don't charge interest it paid in fill by due data. Their customer service refused to work with me on any of this.Review fromVivian N

1 starI wish Sam’s club will never use this bank as a card provider! Their customer service is poor, the operator is rude and unprofessional! I will never apply any credit card from this bank!Review fromJason M

1 starI have 3 Synchrony accounts, and have never really had an issue with using any of them. This is in regards to the customer service at Synchrony Home Design/HVAC. When I called, I was able to retrieve the information I requested finally, but the CS rep was abrupt and very matter of fact. No emotion or concern for the customer. I'd be better off talking to an AI system based on the service I received. On top of that, every other customer service has a rating after the call and this rep abruptly hung up at the end of the call, seemingly in an effort to avoid having a rating/review submitted. Customer service at it's core is about caring for customer needs, and this rep acted like she was being forced to do a job that she gets paid to do. If she is that turned off to talk to customers, she should not be in the customer service industry. Synchrony needs better pre-screening for their new hires and constant phone screening of their agents to ensure they are providing the best service possible. DO BETTER! BE BETTER! Thank you!Review fromCharlene B

1 starSynchrony Bank granted me several credit lines over a period of years. Then, it decides to lower the credit limits which then negatively impacts my credit score and its utilization rate. The first reason Synchrony writes in its letter for lowering my credit limit is that I have a lack of real estate secured loans which wasn't necessary when I applied for and they granted the credit line. Why is it now a criteria for creditworthiness? Another reason, Synchrony has written, is the average time since accounts opened is too recent. This reason too doesn't define creditworthiness. Wouldn't it stand to reason that my applying for the credit line would become a recently dated application and also increase the number of inquiries? Then why is now listed as a justification to lower the creditline? I decided to call Synchrony today because Synchrony reduced my JC Penny credit limit from $600 to $100. The same practice occurred with the HSN, QVC, Sams Club, Car Credit, Care Credit, Home Depot and Amazon accounts. Mattress Firm is the only account not yet affected. The persons I spoke with repeated the information on the letter I'd received. Daquana offered to send me the contract explaining Synchrony's procedure for granting credit and she said to contact Transunion to confirm the accuracy of my credit report. In 2024, I asked Synchrony to remove a late payment for my Amazon account from my credit report. Beforehand I was told the account was closed, paid in full. The next month, a balance less than $3 appeared. Synchrony would not remove that late payment reporting. I contend that Synchrony's practices are a detriment to my credit report. Resolving issues to the customer's satisfaction has not been an objective practiced with my accounts. Removing the late payment would not impact Synchrony's bottom line. When Synchrony reduces my credit limits to reflext 90% credit usage, it infringes on my rights to a fair credit report.Review fromJoyce H

1 starI opened this account a little over 2 years ago. Since then they have lowered my credit for reasons stated that don't apply to my credit worthiness. I have a mind to pay it off today and tell them good riddance. They lower your credit limit so your usage looks super high. Just ridiculous!!Review fromTabitha T

1 starThere is no customer service or HR to speak with only collections. I have a card with them and haven't had problems. However my friend also has a card with them and has had nothing but problems. 5 days after her 1st use ,which didn't max the card, and they treat her like she's owed them a maxed balance for a long time, they hung up on her while trying to setup payments, only ever contacted her once, and now send a letter about an attorney being involved.Review fromMelanie D

1 starI'd sooner sell plasma or have a yard sale or literally any other option than finance or purchase ANYTHING with this company or their cards. They are highly predatory and actively hurt customers credit scores. Pay on time for years and have NEVER missed a payment and they will drop your limit to the balance on your card then say your usage is high and your score has decreased while they are the cause of high usage and score decrease. They closed an account that had a zero balance for years and was due to my credit useage and scores, meanwhile they dropped the limits on every other account I had with them to close to the balance on the accounts. So accounts with less than 20% usage went to almost 100%. Not because of my spending but because of their actions. They have a terrible reputation and always have some kind of "answer" and are regularly called out for lying in their answers. You would be better off with an actual loan shark than using this company. There is a reason their rating everywhere is so insanely low. I would give negative stars if I could. I don't even want to give them a one.Review fromTamera L

1 starSynchrony bank is the absolute worst bank I’ve ever done business with. first they approve you for a high limit send you savings and savings offers via email asking to use the card then out of nowhere they cut the credit limit 90% lower than the original credit limit. This has happened to many accounts with this bank. Highly dissatisfied.Review fromReagan G

1 starI will never use Synchrony pay later again. My water heater went out, and being on a fixed income due to a severe disability, I didn't have much of a choice but to use a pay later company to purchase a new water heater. I was made to sign up for autopay when I opened the account. I made a parent, more than what was due, on the 5th when I pay my other bills. And then synchrony tried to draft the payment from my bank account on the payment date. Turns out that if you pay early, they just see it as an extra payment. Now I am late paying the payment and will have to pay a late fee. Even though I made a payment, paid extra, and paid it early. Never again. This water heater is going to cost me my sanity thanks to synchrony
