We hired Cincinnati Basement Waterproofing & Drainage to install a French drain in our backyard. They came and performed the work, but while doing so they damaged our 8ft double gate on our brand new fence. I watched from the window as they (owner (Gil B******) and workers) tried to bend it back with their small excavator to no avail. When the work was completed, the worker showed me the work and said they hit our fence and that "it looks better than it did". I told them I would like for them to fix the damage. The worker contacted Mr. B******, who had left already, and said to write on the invoice, “bill for fence”. After the crew left, I tried to put the gates back up so our dog couldn't get out. The gates were so mangled I couldn't even attach them to the posts. I guess that's why the crew left the gates against the house. I contacted the guy who installed our fence and he had replace our entire 8ft aluminum gate and posts that were set in concrete which came to $1,000. I sent Mr. B****** the bill and was told by him he could've "had it installed 1/3 of that. he definitely took advantage of that". I have texted Gil every month since then asking for an update and have been given every imaginable excuse as to why he hasn’t paid. This has gone on for a year. I have been MORE than patient and understanding.

I signed a contract on May 4, 2022 for basement waterproofing with Cincinnati Basement Waterproofing & Drainage with Isaac, salesman with CBWD. A cash deposit of $1900 was paid to CBWD. The work was to be perform within 45-60 days. I did not hear anything from CBWD within that time frame. After 60 weekday days, I contacted CBWD and left a voice message that I wanted to have this contract cancelled as it was expired and I wanted my deposit to be returned. I received a telephone call the next day from Mr. Gill B******* apologizing for not completing the job and asking if he could personally come by my house and review the job and try to get me to allow GBWD to complete the job. Mr. G****** came to my house, reviewed the work that needed to be completed, rewrote the initial contract, signed the contract and left. Consequently, after that time, I heard nothing from Mr. G******. I contacted him a few weeks later and told him I did not want to enter into another contract with him and requested my deposit be returned. He stated he would look into that. About a month later, I contacted Mr. G****** again and requested my deposit to be returned expeditiously. He said he would contact his accountant and have my deposit returned. I have not received my deposit to date. I have tried contacting Mt. G****** on numerous occasions and have been unable to contact him. My voice messages have gone unreturned. During the month of September or October, I could not even leave voice messages as the mailbox was full. The work still needs to be done and I need to have the money from my deposit returned in order to pay for this. I do not want CBWD to do this job.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

    Regards,

    ******* ******

i did not hear from this company until after the contract had expired and after I had called to request return of my deposit.  Then I was contacted, told a story about difficulties being experienced.  I did not feel that explanation was relative to the lack of the completion of the project.  I even asked them if their crews were still working and was told yes they were.  I allowed Gil to come to my home to review the project himself as a courtesy.  At that time I did request a refund of my deposit.  I was told Gil would check into it.  A few weeks past and I contacted Gil again requesting return of my refund and was told he would contact his finance dept.  I did not hear anything from then on even after leaving numerous, numerous voice messages.  If material was purchased specifically for my project, then they should be returned to me.  After my initial meeting with the salesman, the timeframe for doinfnthenwoork for this project was never discussed.

Cincinnati Basement Waterproofing & Drainage completed work in my basement in September of 2021. The work totaled $10,000. I made two separate payments ($3,333 and $6,667) to the business name which went to the owner, Gilbert Brummet. The first payment was made when the work began. The second payment was a check left for the contractor on the final day of construction. I was at work and left the check for them while they finished. Upon coming home, I notice the work did not include trenching my yar to install a drain pipe. Instead, the drain pipe was tied into an existing drain. This was fine, but it reduced the cost by $900. I contacted Gilbert to request a refund of $900. He agreed and said the check would be mailed out in ten days. This was on October 5, 2021. No reimbursement has been sent, and I have contacted Gilbert multiple times since. He either does not return my calls/texts, or claims he is having financial difficulties. I have offered to have him pay in small installments rather than a lump sum. He has not done so.
