I write this detailed review with the intention of shedding light on the appalling level of incompetence and unreliability displayed by Universal Appliance Repairs (UAR) during my refrigerator repair ordeal. 6 months ago, warranty company (American Home Shield - AHS) assigned UAR to fix my non-cooling fridge. After ordering parts and an initial repair attempt, the technician admitted to another issue. This began a series of frustrating events, with delays, missing parts, and broken promises. Despite agreeing on a new repair date, the technician claimed the parts were missing from his car trunk at the last minute, forcing a reschedule. Two months passed without any updates until I contacted him, only to be met with an apology and his admission that he had completely forgotten about the job. He assured me of expediting the repair process. Two more months elapsed, during which my attempts to contact the technician went unanswered. When I finally reached out to the warranty company, they surprisingly informed me that my service order was closed a month after the initial repair. The frustration peaked when the AHS representative, with me on the hold, contacted UAR by phone. Shockingly, UAR claimed that the job was complete and no further action was necessary at the time. UAR suggested doing a new repair which would translate to a new service fee for me. This potential double charge for the same job added to the suspicion surrounding UAR’s wrongful practices. I realized the intentional delay might have been a tactic to exploit the situation financially. After contacting AHS and experiencing their unhelpful response, coupled with their persistence in working with an unreliable contractor (UAR being their sole contractor), I made the decision to cancel my membership. In conclusion, my experience with UAR and AHS has been a nightmare. Steer clear of these companies to save yourself from the frustration, incompetence, and unreliability that define their service.

Regret the inconvenience caused. It has been frustrating to have been trying to contact you time and again. However you refused to entertain our calls. You had 4 dispatches assigned to us. The extra 2 Dispatch issued you got the same cancelled twice. I am surprised you have intentionally given false information just to try to avoid charges or I am not sure what was your valued intention. We also left voice mail for you to contact after you got the extra Dispatch issued twice. But every time we tried to schedule, you got it cancelled. It seemed you did that intentionally to see if we still would like to work. We did all efforts sincerely to get the work done with you. And this is the answer of our sincere efforts. WOW!!!!!! Two extra Dispatch nos issued by your warranty company that end with the last 5 digits are as 25878 and 22098. Both were scheduled and you got them cancelled. Also if our services were so bad and frustrating why did you get your refrigerator reassigned to us. You should not have let the dispatch be assigned to us at all after your first experience of Dispatch ending with 02868. You should have not let the next dispatch 84648 at all issued to us due to the bad service and the frustration that you felt!!!!! You got this dispatch 84648 assigned to us specifically after calling us. So please stop trying to give blame to us. Please do try to respond when technicians call. After this reply we would not even like to entertain any further correspondence with you as we can only say the truth once.

I find the response from Universal Appliance Repairs (UAR) both disappointing and predictable. It’s concerning to see a business quick to point fingers and play the victim instead of owning up to their shortcomings and striving to improve. This approach doesn’t show a commitment to taking responsibility or to providing good service. The claim from UAR about their diligent efforts to resolve the issue doesn’t match my experience at all. In truth, my numerous attempts to reach out through calls and texts were ignored (details in my original review). It was only after I warned the technician, through a text message, that I would write a review about my awful experience with UAR, that he finally decided to contact me. By then, I was already fed up with his constant excuses and lack of follow-through. Regarding the issue of additional dispatches, it’s important to clarify that the repeated assignment of UAR by AHS wasn’t my choice. It was the result of AHS’s automatic system. After my first bad experience with UAR, I expressly asked AHS for a different service provider. Unfortunately, due to the limitations within the AHS network and an automated system, UAR was reassigned to me. Each time I was notified about UAR’s assignment, I quickly cancelled the service with them. This frustrating process led me to terminate my contract with AHS, a decision I’ve highlighted in both my original review and a review I wrote for AHS in BBB website. The response from UAR, filled with unjust accusations and lacking in truth, only serves to validate my initial concerns. It’s a testament to UAR’s tendency to misrepresent situations, dodge accountability, and provide unreliable and unsatisfactory service. This interaction alone reinforces the caution I advised in my review.

Horrible experience with this company (Universal Appliance Repairs, LLP aka Ray one LLC), they accept the work from the utilities warranty company, never show up and claim they never received the work order, when we call to enquire about the appointment that they never show up, their tone is very mean and mad. if there is a Zero star, they sure deserve it.

Hi Good morning. You left out your Name? Any particular reason? We would like to know who you are and why this review so as we can provide a proper reply to you. If you say we never received a wo obviously we cannot come to make repairs. So let us know your name as per the warranty contract (That is listed on the warranty contract) so as we can then give a suitable reply. Thanks,

***** from Universal Repairs came to address freezing issues in our GE fridge and stand alone Kenmore freezer. He really knew his business and resolved our issues. He was very pleasant to deal with. In addition he very pleasantly changed our fridge's water filter. We passed the same comments to Choice Warranty. Yes would recommend this company.

***** fixed my dishwasher issue after submitting a claim through our home warranty. Communication issue at first due to our account having the wrong number on the home warranty. Nitin was easy to work with and completed the work quickly after the part arrived. It took a couple weeks after ordering part but understand the delays in shipping. Would recommend.

Dual complaint of Universal Appliance Repair/Ray One (UAp) nd ********************* /Total Home Protection (SPW)5/9/22 fridge non cooling reported; weeks of delays to get a tech. UAP was assigned following a failed Virtual dx. Fridge had been nonworking for over 3 weeks at the time 2 UAR tech arrived in a white ****** 2 hrs late after multiple texts. The techs were Indian and very ****, not interested in any info re: the issue. Barely acknowledged me. I remained in the area, as usual with techs, to answer questions. Watched as the back panel was removed and replaced. No communication with me, nothing reported New part to be ordered and then return to make the repair. Days later a text received the part word be here Friday. BUT on Wed the techs show up, unscheduled, at 7 pm.This part, unseen, is allegedly installed from the front of the fridge. Still nonworking they abruptly exit, again. Several texts sent "can you fix?" "When?"UAR refuses to address status questions referring me back to SPW and saying "we are not serving your appliance, contact warranty co." SPW sends me back to UAR. Getting nowhere 3 weeks after UAR last visit SPW says, UAR says "the fridge is infested with roaches" so warranty VOID No evidence provided.I was present the entire time UAR worked on the fridge, no roaches seen or reported. Irrelevant for cooling unit? Other techs advise this as deflecting on the inability to make adequate repairs and warranty not wanting to pay. Both are incompetent and should be avoided!!!!! They take your $ and leave you in a mess. Warranty calls for replacement if not repairable. UNLESS conveniently voiding your warranty. Service fee was paid.UAR doesn't know WHO their client is. Read their childish responses to complaints and you will see the lack of responsibility offering excuse making for their rudness and incompetence. SPW is the same. VERY BAD news when mixed together. UAR ALSO need to be culturally competent but aren't.

We told the warranty company about ***** infestation. They said it is not covered. Her house and backyard are full of old stuff as she is a hoarder. No elbow room in front of the fridge. Not only her fridge, her whole house is ***** infested. None of us have been discourteous to her. We were very polite. I guess she hallucinates. We are Indians who are known all over the world for our culture and of treating others with respect. She needs a school course on housekeeping 101.This review has not been written by her. She had some help. She is not that competent. As for us, one owner is Electrical Engineer with over 30 years of experience in working in large companies like Corning. The other an Electronic Engineer with 25 years of technical experience.Anyways we never got paid for this job. The company refused payment on grounds of ***** infestation

ZERO STARS!!!!Very unprofessional. They do not follow through with their appointments and never call to say they can't make it. They have missed multiple appointments to fix my appliances. I would not recommend them nor would I allow them into my home. The only reason I had to deal with them was because of my home warranty, trust me, I would not call them if they were the last people in the business. Horrible. Stay away!!!

Could not visit on 02/05 as I got stuck at the last job. Customer called and I told her I would be there next day. Went there during the agreed appointment time slot the next day. A ***************** came to the door. After asking me the reason of my visit he did not let me into the the home saying 'we are not available'. I am an Indian and I could sense sense where he was coming from. The third world countries (***** included) treat this profession as of downtrodden people and the way to treat them is to beat them down into submission by insulting them. It did not work on me and I did not beg him to allow me in. If I had, he would have grudgingly allowed me to come in. Since I told him I can come another day, he further tried to ramp up the pressure by saying ' we will get the work order cancelled'. That did not work and I replied "that would be good to do".The warranty company called me and I told them very clearly as to what happened and that even if the customer wanted us to visit, I will not. I do not know what happened between the company and the customer after that.I would advise the customer to let this complaint go and not to go any further with it. Reason: The customer's behavior falls under a very repulsive category which I do not want to specify. If the customer wishes to reply to this one, then I will have no alternative but to describe the situation as I see it. That would be a terrible display of customer's linen in public. Better stay way from replying 'customer'.

This reply is so comical. They never called. We called multiple times and they never answered. Going as far as to directly send us to voicemail. And then what seemed like they had turned their phone off. We then called our home warranty company and they said the repair company would come in 2 days. At that point we asked for another repair company because this one had already gave us the run around. The next day, Universal showed up unannounced in the evening. We were sitting down for dinner and didn't want to be disturbed. This has nothing to do with ethnicity or race as the company pretends to paint it out to be. It is a blatant grab to preserve some respectability. If universal would've been professional and just called to tell us they couldn't make their appointment or simply answer their phone, all this could've been avoided. But now the complete fabrication of the story, clearly shows they are not a honest, ethical company.

The work order# ********* was recd by me on 02/04.2022. The appointment date shown on Work Order is 02/05/2022. I could not make it on the appointed date but AFTER THE CUSTOMER AGREED I WENT THERE THE NEXT DAY. There was no request submitted to the warranty company for a different tech. As explained in my previous reply the young uneducated guy who opened the door for me told me he was going to get the WORK ORDER CANCELLED. HE DID NOT. The warranty company kept on giving them other dates for us to go there but we declined because of racial intolerance exhibited by the customer who needs to go to kindergarten and learn the American ways of communicating.

Ray needs to be stopped but unfortunately warranty companies are enabling him and letting him pray on unsuspecting and trusting people. Ray came out after gas company identified gas leaking through a valve on the controls of the furnace. **************** sent out Ray who was 2.5 hours late outside of his stated window with no communication. Ray spent ten minutes looking at the furnace and was clearly out of his depth. Of note his website makes no mention of furnace repairs so Im not sure why warranty company used him. Ray then said he knew what the problem was and would order the part and submit to warranty company. He then asked for a $150 check for the deductible which i foolishly gave him. The warranty company does make the customer responsible for the diagnostic fee or fee for coming to the property initially but they said their policy is not to have the customer pay the contractor before hand. I am sure Ray knows this as he has pulled this ******* before in other reviews. Did not hear from Ray again for weeks. it is now October and cold and I cant use my furnace. Called and texted him multiple times with no response except for once where he said he was waiting on warranty company. They said it was not true and they were looking for more information from him. Finally got this straightened out and scheduled him to come back. He gave me a window of **** on a Monday. 5pm I had not heard from him and had to reschedule. He blamed it on another customer. He came back the next day finally on time. he spent 5 minutes in my basement and had me come down saying he had fixed the problem. He said he had tightened a pipe and there was no leak anymore. He had a ***** **** amazon gas detector and it did not show any gas so I believed him. Didn't have any choice, he clearly didn't know what he was doing. Mind you he submitted a diagnosis and then ordered a part because he said it was a different problem initially but he was content that twisting a pipe 30degrees was a reasonable service for 150$. Luckily I called the gas company out again and of course the problem was not fixed there was still a leak. A real furnace company came out today and quoted me $495 to replace this valve. They apparently didnt think a half turn on a pipe would solve the issue. I texted Ray asking him for my check back and he replied that I wasnt playing fair and said I was trying to manipulate him and the warranty company. He didnt like that I was communicating with the warranty company about how terrible he was. please dont use him. He is a thief.

Long and short of it is that I diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I did collect the deductible and that is as per the warranty company's directive. All warranty companies work on the principle that if the tech absconds with the deductible, warranty company will deduct the amount from his invoices. They would then send another tech and the customer does not have to pay the deductible to this new guy.The difference here is that I fixed the problem. So the warranty company will not do it.The customer did not allow me to go back again or wait for another tech to be deputed by warranty company. So, me or the warranty company had no way to help him out. What I did at the work site:After completing the job I carried out soap solution test and also used an electronic gas detector and checked the entire gas line ( a favor to the customer), which was witnessed by the customer. After completing the job I asked the customer to get it checked again by the gas supply company.FOUR DAYS LATER I CALLED THE CUSTOMER TO CHECK WHAT THE *** AGENCY FOUND. HE HAD NOT CONTACTED THE *** SUPPLY COMPANY TILL THEN. THE NEXT THING I HEAR FROM HIM IS ASKING FOR A REFUND. He was getting abusive on phone as he has shown to be in this complaint filed by him. I told him to talk to the warranty company and I blocked his phone. In my opinion, he treated it as an opportunity to get his deductible back. He became abusive because he did not want me to go back and check for a new tag put up by the gas supply agency. I am sure no gas company was called by him. As far as getting late to fix the problem, I as a technician, do not have control over the parts availability. In this case the part was on backorder and took its time. Once I got it, I asked the customer for appointment and he told me that he was not available on that date. Then I texted him again for the next appointment date ( according to the work load which is heavy these days), but this time I got stuck at another customer's place as the job took much longer than expected. I told him that I cannot come that day.I explained to him how I was stuck at some other customer's place. He had no reply when I asked him that if I got stuck in the job at his place and I had to cancel the next customer's job, what is the next customer going to do apart from wait. Now he says I blamed it on another customer. and I had to literally beg him to give me the next day's appointment. I was there in time but the customer was late by 30 mins (his way of getting back at me). This guy has not cared to go through the earlier reviews on this site. Had he done that, he would have known how some customers behave and who was to blame. When we signed up with BBB we had a rating of A(-). Now it is A(+) despite all negative reviews. Fact is, if a customer is satisfied, he has no motive to spend time giving a good review. It is only when the customer is not satisfied or wants something for nothing that he gives a bad review. In a nutshell, the guy is abusive, a manipulator, liar (as demonstrated above). I strongly advise any tech who goes through this review to call me and I will give this customer's address so that he knows who to avoid. My advice to this customer is eat some sugar when angry. Might help him in not being abusive. Also, not to mess around with techs and instead do all he can to help the tech complete his job. Most warranty companies have only one tech. So messing with the tech is not a good idea. His warranty company maybe one of those.
