This company came out to do modifications to make my door ways handicap accessible. They were supposed to widen 3 doors, the front door and 2 barn doors on the bedrooms to a specific code. They scratched the front door and when they put the decking in they didn’t put clips in and attached the gutter back wrong, they drilled holes wrong on one of the barn doors and widened the entrance to the another barn door but did not hang the barn door straight and didn’t hang it properly, the barn door entrance is widened but they hung the door in a way that it doesn’t open the full width of the opening. They came out twice and each time has been a nightmare. A inspector came out but missed the fact that the door didn’t open all the way to the specs they were supposed to widen it too so they are refusing to do anything to correct it.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

    1.  1. ***** stated that the barn door didn’t open all the way and unfortunately after 2 attempts at fixing them they still don’t open to the minimum requirement of 32”, they did move the co2 detector but they didn’t hang the barn door hard-ware properly so not only is the door hung crooked but it doesn’t open to the 32” minimum requirement.
Also she stated that 2 doorways were widened to 36” but that’s not true either, As you will see in the included pictures, Doorway #1 or the front door has an opening of 33 1/2” wide, doorway #2 or the bathroom door opening measures at 31 1/2” wide (which is not widened to the required specs of at least a minimum of 32”) and doorway #3 or the bedroom doorway has a opening width of 32” but the door only opens to 29” so none of the doors meet the job specs of the stated 36” and 2 doors don’t even meet the minimum requirements of 32”.
In regards to the statement ***** had stated that the doors had been widened to 36” that is not a true statement the photos will in fact reflect that.
    2. She stated a nail was in the floor but that is not what had happened. The hardware for the barn door to be hung was in fact installed improperly. When Dan had come to inspect he had even stated that they needed to fix the issue.

    3. She stated that a field inspector “Dan”  signed off on the job and that may be true but he is also being sent back out because my caseworker saw first hand that the door doesn’t open to a minimum of 32”. The inspector did not measure the doorway and he only did a partial visual inspection and he didn’t seem to care about the quality of work or damages they did in the process of the job and that is very unfortunate that they are able to get away with things like this. He stated that they are one of his and I quote “Problem Child’s”
I also sent The field manager “Dan” from *** a picture that my caseworker and I took showing the door did not open more than 29” but he didn’t respond back to my text, I also sent pictures to ***** as you will see in the pictures of our texts I have included so they both knew about the problem but chose to ignore me.
    4. Decor Built not only left my home with a door that is hung crooked and that doesn’t open all the way but they also did damage of some kind in every room they touched.
Outside they installed the last 2 pieces decking wrong, they scratched the door and gouged out a piece on the inner door frame. They lost 12 of the 15 screw hole caps that hide the screws on the door that hold the glass in. they tore my outdoor movie screen, they installed the downspout wrong and dented part of it, they left trash in my garage instead of hauling it away, they sloped caulk all over my kitchen floor, they used a caulk that didn’t match and agreed to fix it but didn’t, they drilled 3/4” holes in the wrong places on one of the barn doors and had to patch it with wood putty which won’t look right once it’s stained and they messed up the woodwork in the bedroom when they attempted to fix the bedroom door for a second time but again failed.
Also in Regards to her statement in her response letter about the wheelchair being the cause for the scratch. The height of the scratch is at 36” from the floor to the scratch and my chair is only 33” high so it’s impossible for my chair to have scratched the door like she’s trying to claim.
    5. She stated that I’m trying to impede the release of funds for payment and my response to that is why would I waste my time calling the ***, ********** ****** Ohio or my caseworker and her supervisor if this wasn’t a valid complaint. This email alone with documented pictures speaks for itself and backs up my claims let alone the frustration that this has caused me. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of due to my disability.
I only wanted what anyone would receive  from a professional contractor that comes to a persons home. to do a job and for a company that has been in business since 1989 with an A+ reputation, you’d expect them to know and do better and not be so manipulative and fraudulent in they’re dealings.
     6. As far as her statement of being harassed by me I feel as though I’m being attacked due to the fact that I have a disability.  it has been a nightmare I’m my dealings with this company, every time they come out to do work they damage something or make the job worse, I tried to keep things in text messaging so I’d have documented proof if needed at a later date, so she’s welcome to compare texts to prove her idea of harassment. I’ve included texts sent to ***** and her supervisor.
I will include pictures that support everything I stated in my response
Thank you very much for your time.

    Hello,

We have attached our response as well as pictures of the completed work.  I have attached the email that was sent to his case manager stating that I blocked his number on July 12th.    The consumer indicated he sent me texts and pictures on Aug 4th - after he was blocked. The texts do not show "sent", but "add".  On the same thread of emails, on Aug 18th, we reported that he had accused our men of stealing  a bong from his home!

    Thank You,
