    I visited My Wood Loft on May 4, 2022. I was looking for materials to make a custom table with my moose legs from my "hunt of a lifetime" in 2020. Steve offered to build the table and sketched up the plan. I left an $882.00 deposit (50%) and my moose legs. The time frame was estimated at 18-20 weeks. 20 weeks came and went. I called numerous times without a call back or response. I made several unannounced visits to the business and never saw Steve until over a year had passed. Steve made many excuses about being overwhelmed. I told him I was not happy about him not upholding his end of our agreement, but what was most infuriating was the lack of communication (not returning calls). Steve showed me a "mockup" and told me his goal was to finish by the end of the week, which never happened. Both Steve and Tory told me they were moving to a new retail location in Vermillion and would be focusing on completed products as special orders were overwhelming them. In recent weeks I have texted Steve and called numerous times with no response. I have since learned that they left the North Ridgeville location and the Vermillion location fell through. I learned that they amended their LLC paperwork on July 25, 2023, but I honestly don't know what that means, although I doubt it is a coincidence. My moose legs are priceless to me as they are from a once in a lifetime hunt and $882.00 is not small change to me. I since have read numerous reviews on the business that are similar to mine, and it appears to me that My Wood Loft is running a Ponzi scheme with patrons' deposits.

    Initially we were very excited about our project! What a nightmare! You are required to make a 1/2 down deposit and you are promised a delivery date, then you get ignored. We ordered in early May, we’re promised the end of June and barely made Thanksgiving (after they cut it wrong and because they didn’t measure right before they cut!) Owner consistently complains of being overworked, unable to meet deadlines. When my piece was wrong and the contractor took it back I asked for a credit to help offset the additional cost involved to make their mistake work and the owner refused! It was their mistake! No communication, poor accounting and by golly they won’t let one piece of wood leave without full payment even if there is more to be delivered in the order. Then what they “fixed” and sent back didn’t even match! See photo below. The customer is expected to honor their commitment but not them! Their contract is all about the customer following thru and holds them liable for nothing, even if they screw up the order you are stuck! They won’t give store credit or refund for disliked project or errors. They are one of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with and I would never refer anybody to them. I am a big supporter of shopping local, but in this case, find another source and save yourself a major headache!
