    I purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado from Smedley’s April 17, 2023 and purchased two separate warranties (Alli, GWC) Alli was said to cover tires glass and cosmetics, the second was to cover drive train and other essentials. Within a couple weeks of having my truck it needed serviced for AC and suspension work. I found out they sold me the wrong warranty and because my truck was lifted which it was lifted when I purchased it, that GWC would not cover the truck under the warranty. So the sales lady (******) said since it was her mistake she had to purchase the upgraded warranty with the lift coverage. ( keep in mind she sold me the warranty and never once looked at the truck to know what coverage I needed) Here we are less than a year later, I still owe $33,000 on a truck that’s transmission has failed and AGAIN GWC DENIED MY CLAIM , bc the 2nd warranty doesn’t cover MY TRUCK! So not only that I purchase the wrong warranty once they upgraded to another warranty that doesn’t cover my truck. I have purchased rental cars for the last three weeks because they keep giving me the runaround, it’s their mistake and keep saying they will make it right yet I’m out all this money for rentals, and still owe $33k on a truck I can’t drive.

    My salesman said he had been selling cars for Smedley’s for 6 years. I told him I could transfer funds to pay cash for a Chevy Blazer I loved, but it would take 5 days. The salesman said a down payment was needed to hold the car. Then the salesman said his sales manager, Joey, said they would find a short term, no fee loan lender, and he assured me I would pay only the “OTD” price he quoted. My husband went alone to look at the vehicle that evening. The salesman said this vehicle was in "high demand", and completed loan paperwork was necessary to hold the vehicle until Monday. I received a notice from the lender. The loan ended up being $1,543 higher than OTD price. It included a 48,000 mile warranty for $1,293; lender's fee of $250. The odometer read 5,000 miles. The manufacturer's warranty was 36,000. Crazy! I called Smedley's and spoke with Joey. Joey would not refund the money, I asked Joey if I could talk with Smedley’s owner, and he said he was. Joey said he had told his salesman NO early loan payoff fee, not that there would be NO charge for the short term loan. I told Joey the salesman had made the promise multiple times. Joey admitted the salesman had been there 6 months, not 6 years. He told me the sales department was separate from the finance department so the finance manager would not have been aware of salesman's promise. Joey did acknowledge that perhaps the salesman should have had some training of how loans actually work. Joey agreed to return warranty charge, but not $250 lender’s fee or loan interest owed. Joey said because the lender was a community bank and could not collect fees like other banks could, they charged $250 to open new account. I called lending institution, and they said they received $5 to set up the new account; Smedley’s retained $245. BEWARE: Smedley's is an unethical business and is making a nice profit on extended warranties and on each loan they process, on top of the document fees.
