My husband and I got married The Water Oasis venue on August 27, 2023. Very beautiful venue and place to get married at but I got compliments from my guests and the day of manager that there was bees all over where the appetizers were located at. My 7 year old got stunned and a guests multiple times. The day of manager also took pictures and emailed them. Our catering had to throw out all the appetizers because how bad the bees attacked the food. I emailed my lead manager that I was assigned with and let her know I would like to get a refund for the food that had to been thrown away. This was very expensive and both my husband and I planned this wedding for 3 years, top it off we book with the venue 3 years ago and paid it off within 2 years of booking and putting a hold on the date. The lead manager emailed the owner/main manager of the venue but no response from her and I've been waiting since September. We are asking of $2,000 of a refund, no less than $1,500. There's pictures that were sent of how bad it was and emails and the main manager has not responded. Her nane is ******* and email is ************************************* Thank you.***********************

      ****** and ****,

Additional items to clarify below, as well as list the precautions the venue takes:
These were yellow jackets and not honeybees.  Honeybees do not eat meat.  Yellow jackets are notoriously aggressive towards the end of summer and beginning of fall, and will swarm all food, meat included.
MANY outdoor venues, restaurants, parks, and private homes experienced a surge / influx of yellow jackets this summer. We follow many community pages as well as check in with other venues and local businesses all of which confirmed this as well, and that many others were experiencing the same issues.
We as the venue take as many precautions as we can, which includes:
o   Walking the property weekly to assess for any major hives and nests, and to kill or remove them.
o   Weekly maintenance of the wasp/yellow jacket traps to empty and rebait.  *These are located in the tree lines all around the Pavilion, entry and exit points, and around the catering area.
o   Every event day walking the property for signs of hives/nests and killing or removing as needed.
o   Professional bee and insect company on call to inspect and remove hives / nests as needed all season.
o   Fans are available to use / place at food tables to keep yellow jackets and insects away.
o   Suggestions we have used and recommended with varying success: (1)Scented Dryer sheets available to place under table cloths or at tables - scent can help mask food smell or deter). (2) Put a small plate of meat/food outside the Pavilion for the yellowjackets/insects to eat, in hopes they will leave the main food alone.
