After my wife died, I received a letter to "The Family of _____" offering to buy my house. This company has a system that notifies them of deaths in the area and allows them to send out advertising to grieving family members. This is a disgusting act that preys on emotionally compromised individuals, especially the elderly.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Simply removing my personal address from their marketing database does not prevent the unethical behavior of this business in the future for others. Unless and until they cease marketing to family members of the recently deceased, this business is committing morally reprehensible actions, and should be seen as a detriment to society.

      Regards,

      **** ******

The company keeps sending me mail saying they want to buy my home. I have already left them a message to stop contacting me, that I do not want to sell on 2/20/24 4:35pm. I have received more mail. I tried calling but when it says to select an option, it doesn't work. I see from looking up the business name in your directory, that they have or have different addresses.

We appreciate your feedback as it's very important to us. Our marketing does have a lag time so please allow up to 90 days for our records to reflect your request to be removed from our marketing channels. We have checked our phone systems and confirmed operation. Please note that we do need your full address for removal to ensure we're removing the correct information. If you choose to reach back out to us, please select option 1 to be directed to our do not mail registry. We appreciate your time and wish you the best.

I received a letter addressed to the Executor of Hoover Estate, The Family of Jean Hoover. I later received a postcard addressed to Family of Jean Hoover. Both the letter and the postcard are offers to purchase my home to settle my estate. I am not deceased. I would like this to stop.

This company is harassing me about buying a property that I sold 6 months ago. I have a private line and they are texting and calling me. Apparently they are using an out of date property owner list and are invading my privacy. This is harassment and they need to stop immediately

Fifth avenue property group continues to send unsolicited mailers even after I have requested that I be removed from their mailing list. This started after my family member passed away even though she was not at the time the owner of the property. I am in the process of filing a complaint against the company with the state attorney general. I do not want the nuisance mailers, they are unwanted and unsolicited, I have called and requested that they remove my name and address from their list and was told it was removed but even over six months later I still get these cards. This is my home, I live here. It is not for sale.

We do sincerely apologize for any discomfort our mailers may have caused you and your family. Our marketing team does try to be very receptive to stop-mail requests, however we are not an automated system and some could slip through the cracks. We are truly sorry. I have ensured our team is made aware of your request and your information is removed immediately. We wish you the best.
