I just had one of the most disappointing service experiences of my life at Fred Beans Nissan of Doylestown. The Nissan Certified service department TRIED TO CONVINCE ME TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO COVER UP THEIR OWN MISTAKES. On 31 Jan I brought my 2009 Titan in for an SES code P0430 --Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2). I spent over $2600 to have the catalytic converter replaced. On 19 March the exact same code (P0430) came on so I immediately made an appointment and brought the truck in on 22 March. Later on 22 March Alex B called me and suggested that the other catalytic converter was bad and needed to be replaced. Given that the error code is bank specific and it's the SAME error code, anyone with a passing knowledge of automotive engineering should know that that diagnosis is impossible. After I pointed this out Alex quickly got off the phone and told me he'd look into it. From my perspective at this point, one of two things is happening. Either Alex knew that the wrong catalytic converter was replaced the first time and was hoping that he could take advantage of my ignorance and fool me into paying for the same repair twice, OR he, the technician, and every quality control process that should be in place has failed completely. To top all of this off, the communication I got from Alex (who is the only person who reached out to me), is that they would fix their mistake at no cost, offer no compensation for the loss of use of the vehicle, and that was the "best they could do" and that I should be happy that I had two new catalytic converters. I know I pay a premium cost for Nissan Certified service at a dealership. My experience in large part has been that I'm paying that premium for TRUST, convenience, and competence. This experience has delivered the opposite in almost every measure.
