A person named ***************** with the company called me out of the blue/unsolicited at approx 1:45PM 12/9/21. When I answered the call, they stated my new married name and asked me to confirm if that's who they were speaking to. I asked what they were calling about and they said they couldn't tell me unless I confirmed that's who the were speaking to. So I replied confirming they reached the correct person & again, asked why they were calling. However, they then proceeded to ask me to verify my birth date and they had the correct date, but I would not confirm because I have no idea who they are or why they are calling. I simply asked what the call was in regards to and the caller was very combative. They said they couldn't tell me anything unless I verified my birthdate, social security # and other personally identifiable information. Because the caller had the correct date of birth, I am concerned that my personal data could be in jeopardy. In addition, I would like to report the call as harassingly unprofessional and extremely suspicious. I am concerned that something shady is going on and would like to report their business practices & verify my information is secure as well as to prevent others from being victimized.

My personal information was included in the recent cyberattack on the two telecommunication companies involved in selling information. I did not owe any amount to this company but still, they have continuously reporting erroneous information to my credit report. Please help me so that this account will be deleted already. Secondly, Section 807 of FDCPA (15 USC 1692e) was also violated, in the sense that they were using deceptive and misleading representations for collecting the debt.

I received a call on 11/1/2021...went to my spam on my phone. I called the number back and it was ARC. The person started right in on me saying I owed money to ***************** and would not let me speak. I tried to tell him that the contract was never valid and it was cancelled years ago. He proceeded to tell me that I was incorrect then got frustrated with me because I wasnt letting him speak and he said I will note the file and hung up on me. That was 1030 this morning. I just received another call from them and when I picked it up it rang thru to a call center and someone answered and I said yes I just received a call from this number and they hung up on me. The Company is Ability Recovery Services and it came up as Scranton PA . I also began my initial conversation by saying I have not gotten mail about this issue and this person was insisting that I have indeed received mail. There were never letters sent to me via regular mail nor certified mail. I wanted to get to the bottom of this and dispute but he hung up on me. What an awful company to be in business!

************************* had put me in collections with Ability Recovery after their representatives didn't do their job and put my payment arrangement in. When speaking with a guy he had told me that he spoken with me before and I'm not rational because I had the question on wether I could pay it off while continuing my courses. I told him I can not pay it off in full right now. This collection is not my fault…. So I will take it to court if I have to. He again told me I'm not rational he’ll leave a not on my file that I won't be paying I will be going to court. I never said I wouldn't pay. The service is terrible and they are no help. ***************** told me to call them and get the account sent back to them.

I received a letter from Ability Recovery to settle a debt i had with ***************** University in September 2020, I had 30 days from the date of the letter 9/4/20 to pay 75% and my account would be closed and considered paid and to be removed from my credit report. I paid the settlement amount on 9/19/20, then I confirmed with an agent at the collections agency that i have a zero balance on 10/8/20, and they supposedly sent a deletion request to the credit bureaus back in October of 2020. In March Equifax showed a balance of $58 for Ability Recovery service, I sent another email to the company in May of 2021, asking why it was still on my credit report since I paid the settlement. The agent said that she again showed my balance as 0 and that she would send in a another request to remove it. It still shows on Equifax report so I disputed the account and sent them the deletion letter they agency sent me, and Equifax said they did a investigation and contacted the collection agency which told them I still owed the balance. I have paid my debt in good faith in a settlement with the collection agency and would like this removed from my credit report and the don't keep being pursued for the balance of $58 dollars since it was a settlement for $176.40.
