Drop my car off for repairs (flashing check engine light, power steering, etc..) and an inspection on the first Thursday of September, he told me it’s gonna cost $2008 to replace my catalytic converter, which didn’t make sense to me because that would not impact the performance of the engine… I payed the money and went to pick the car up on September 23rd only to find out that not only was it not inspected but brakes were now grinding. The owner Mike went for a test drive with me when the check engine light came back on and started flashing again… This was the reason I took it there in the first place. Mike offered no explanation as to why this was happening and only mentioned that I never said anything about brakes, which may be accurate, but I did ask for the car to be inspected, and I knew the brakes would need rotated, or changed. Mind you I only went around the block in the car before I came back to pick up Mike, who insisted on telling me that he test drove it before calling me, again, patently false. It is now November 19, and after repeated phone calls from both myself and my sister, Mike has yet to return any of my calls, nor fix any part of my car, let alone the inspection. My car has basically been kidnapped by the owner of this garage and is now sitting in the parking lot since I parked it there myself. This man’s lot is always loaded with vehicles, he is clearly overwhelmed and clearly incompetent. You shouldn’t be booking vehicles without finishing the ones in front of you, it has been 2 1/2 months, and I still have no car, nor can I get this man on the phone to talk to me as a professional, which is not a good look. I’m only looking for the car to be roadworthy, inspected, and safe enough to drive my kids in, as well as my hour, long commute, back-and-forth to work… Seems like a reasonable request for taking your car to a garage, should never take more than a week if that, almost 3 months later. Very unprofessional, very discouraged.

      Business response

      12/01/2022

Good afternoon, I am responding to id ********    I spoke to a ***** ****** about a car that  was not running right. She explained that she just had a engine put in and that it is not running fine. I told her to take it back to have it looked at, she said she did and that they told her is was fine. I told her I would look at. when dropped off the car barely ran and keep stalling. bringing it into garage we determined that the rear catalytic converter was bad by using a diagnostic thermal imager. The image showed the exhaust a yellow color with temp showing high , on the back side of catalytic converter was light redish which means there is restriction in catalytic converter. I spoke with ***** about findings. she had said that she would have to get ahold of her son to let him know.  I got approval to replace both catalytic converters and did so. Technician took vehicle for a ride and stated that it rode fine. notified customer. Customer picked up vehicle. Customer came back stating the car is not running fine, drove it around the block and it was not running right. He left the vehicle at shop to  further diagnose.  Numerous messages left on phone to get back to me. His sister called one day and I was able to get phone number for MIke, left a message after a few days he got back to me. I told him that there is something wrong within the engine and that I don't have the manpower to look into problem. He flipped out saying he just payed all this money and the vehicle isn't fixed, I explained I wasn't the garage that installed the engine , he than demanded that i fix his car. I told him at that point that I was going to put the old catalytic converters back on his car and I am am giving him a full refund. He is refusing to pick up his car. I had explained that he will be charged storage fees for vehicle being left on lot.
