Keystone completely botched my window installation, refused to make repairs and then took me to court to recoup the remainder of the payment I withheld until they made the repairs. One of the windows does not function properly because it was shimmed incorrectly, and the trim they installed is covered with exterior caulk. Depite many requests, the owner never came to my house to evaluate the situation and let me know what it would take to make the repairs. I only withheld $450 of the remaining $1300 payment so that I could hire another contractor to make the repairs, since Keystone apparently had no attention to address. I told the owner of Keystone that if he made the repairs to my satisfaction, I would gladly pay the remaining $450. Despite many requests, the owner decided to file a civil complaint against me instead of making the repairs. The original installation was on 12/16/21 and as of today, 3/10/22, I am left with a bedroom that is a wreck, not knowing how to proceed: Wait until possibly Keystone comes here to assess the damage and propose repairs? Hire another contractor? Or, take further legal action? At age 74, and after living in my restored 1850's house (in which I've replaced nearly everything), these theee windows were the final home improvement project. Based upon my previous home improvements history, I never thought to anticipate having such an experience, which has drained me emotionally, and ultimately monetarily, I'm not a wealthy person, so any excess expenditure has to be carefully considered. As of today, I have paid Keystone $2150 of the $2600 total. And, along with these payments I've repeatedly requested that he send a qualified installer to make the repairs, versus proceeding with a civil suit. The Keystone owner continues to decline.
