  My partner and I contacted *** at Home Renovation Group (HRG) to address several issues in our basement. We'd just purchased our home and had immediate concerns with pest and water issues.I signed the contract (attached) with HRG on July 27, 2023 with a start date of August 4. The estimated completion date for the project was August 9.The total cost of the job was $5600. I paid $2800 of that upfront. The remainder is due at completion of the job, which has not yet occurred.We've had consistent issues with HRG not showing up. Throughout this project, we were told they'd be working, only to receive last minute phone calls the morning of that they couldn't make it. They have now cancelled on us 5 days that we set aside for them to be at our house. This has significantly impacted their ability to complete the work.On 8/9, the job was nowhere near completed, and we exchanged an email (attached) to clarify the contract and jobs remaining. All of these items were discussed and agreed upon in person, but this email was to get it in writing since the contractors on the job site were very unclear about their tasks. HRG did 2 more days of work the following week and still had not completed the job. Other aspects of their work were unacceptable. We exchanged another email and photos (attached).It is now 9/10, and the job is not complete. HRG was supposed to work on 8/29 and 9/5 but cancelled the morning of both times. I requested to be contacted by *** on 9/5 but have not heard from him. No work has been completed on the basement since 8/17.At this point, I do not want to continue working with this company. I cannot rely on the timing or quality of their work, and I need to move forward with hiring new contractors. The work HRG has completed does not justify the original price of the job, and some of it needs to be redone. I no longer have the flexibility to wait at home for them to complete this work, especially since they rarely show up.
