I scheduled an appointment at Springfield animal clinic on 2-12-22 @ 10:40am for my 11 year old black Labrador. The reason for the visit was for an annual checkup and to have his nails trimmed.We were escorted to the examination room where we waited. Dr. M****** entered and proceeded feeling around my dogs adnominal area. The Dr. suggested we run some test to rule out any enlarged spleen / liver. The Dr. said they would work up an estimate of services. To our surprise the assistant returned with a $1500 estimate. Keep in mind, we brought the dog in for a checkup. Listed on the estimate was an ultrasound, urine test, full blood workup, fecal test and medications. After we agreed to the ultrasound Dr. M******* informed us that ********* disease could also cause an enlarged spleen / liver. Given this information our decision would have been to have the urine and blood test performed not the ultrasound. The Dr. offered no opinions or recommendations. I wasn't sure if I was at a Veterinary appointment or Time Share seminar? We agreed to have the urine test done to rule out ********* disease. After we paid the $860.00 bill we were informed that if the ********* test came back positive we would still need bloodwork for additional $250 in order for medication to be prescribed. That was an important piece of information that should have been provided before we agreed to the test. This vet is unethical and fraudulent. Dr. M***** did not act in the best interest of my dog. He is simply a used car salesman trying to sell as many services as possible. I don't have buyers remorse, just veterinarian remorse. I reached out to Emma the office manger regarding a partial refund. Emma said she would look into it and get back to me. That was nearly a week ago and I have heard nothing. My hope is to receive a $425.00 refund for the ultrasound which was never needed.
