My brand new vehicle was in an auto accident 6/21/2022 and 3D AUTO BODY & COLLISION CENTERS did the repairs costing just over $8,000. After six months I noticed the paint starting to chip so I asked the dealer if this was normal and they said no. I contacted 3D and brought it in to be looked at and they said it was normal wear and tear from road debris so not covered to be fixed. I spoke to ***********************, the owner/general manager via email over a month ago and he said he would speak to his manager and get back to me to see what could be done to rectify. I have not heard back from him and he has since not returned my phone calls or emails.Initial Complaint

They were paid through my insurance and by me to fix my car after a deer ran into it. They were paid over 5 thousand dollars by my insurnace, and 500 deductible by me. They returned my car to me with non functioning parts, and parts that they broke during repairs. I have been back 5 times to get the stuff fixed and every time I leave with either nothing fixed, or something new broken. They have cost me hundreds of extra dollars for all the time I had to take off work and sit in their waiting room. They had my car for 2 weeks straight and only did half the work they were paid for. They broke a knob that controls my mirrors and after my 3 time back to get the mirror fixed they broke my door in the process. They tried to hide it and taped my door with electrical tape, but I noticed a few hours later. They only do part of the work they’re paid for, and everytime they broke something they were dishonest and tried to conceal it. I have small children and they’re making my car unsafe for them by knowingly doing bad work. I have talked to other who had work done there and also said their car was returned with only half the work done. They get paid out by insurance immediately once they say the work is done, but it’s really not done. This is insurance fraud in my opinion. I want part of my deductible returned to me for all the time I keep having to take off work for the mistakes they’ve made on my car. Or at the very least look into this business so they cannot scam other people.Initial Complaint

11/29/21, I was scheduled to have body work done and the completion date was 12/10/21. It was not done so they extended the rental until 12/29/21. They got me in trouble because ***** notified me I still had the car after 12/10 so I told them to contact 3 D who still had my car. They set up the rental; I didn’t deal with anyone. When I went to pick up my car, Rob stated that everything was paid for and I only owed the $1000.00 deductible which I paid. Then I was honest with him. I told him that ******** Insurance months ago had given me a partial payment of $1,234.00 for the repairs to start the work. He took it. Now I’m getting a ***** Rental bill for $ 833.28. To top it off, the insurance adjustor never contacted me regarding what was being paid for in the rental and if my car was not done on time they should paid for anything after 12/10. I don’t know what transpired between 3D, ***** and ********. They goofed. Yet they ruined my credit and chances to rent again by sticking me with the bill. If I didn’t owe anything more, then why did you take my $1,2334.00. Either 3 D pays for it, ***** also takes responsibility of not dealing with Hartford and also the claims Adjustor who never spoke to me and I just got the end product of payment on the claim. No one mentioned any rental bill to me until I start getting notices. 3D never gets back with me, ***** is always working on it and an employee slipped by saying we can’t force the insurance. Why? Auto insurance tells you what rental coverage I have. I thought they were working with my insurance co. So either 3D takes responsibility of the error. If I have to pay then I want my 1,234.00 back to pay the bill. I’m actually bankrupt; I have no assets. I live off of credit cards to buy food, gas and utilities. I have a $726.00 gas bill which I have to use a credit card to pay something. I want a bill adjustment. Either a credit that the bill got paid or I want my 1,234.00 back to pay the pending bill.Business Response

I apologize for the delay in responding, this complaint had two other parties that needed to clarify and explain what exactly happened.
3D Collision Centers did repair *** ******’ vehicle, repairs were completed on 12-27-2021. The amounts and checks *** ****** stated are correct, but the amounts paid out from her insurance carrier (The ********) were to repair the property damage sustained to her vehicle. Vehicle replacement (rental) a separate on any automotive insurance the property damage, if someone opts to add rental coverage to their policy the insurance carrier will then pay the chosen daily rate of up to the covered amount per day, in her case her policy has a $20/day limit up to 30 days at a max of $600.00. The daily amount on any policy includes any fees, taxes or surcharges.
When *** ****** scheduled her repairs, she did request a similar vehicle to what she normally drives and had asked if a rental company would rent a vehicle at her daily rate? We typically refer our customers to either ********** or ***** and let them discuss agreed rates, drop off time and what type of vehicle is needed. We will at times make a reservation on their behalf, but with us not being in the business of renting vehicles we trust that our customer and local rental companies will work these issues prior to the day the vehicle is dropped. It is normal for the rental company to gather the renter’s driver’s license number, proof of insurance and a credit or debit card as a security hold until the vehicle is returned with the correct amount of fuel and obviously no damage that was not present when the customer does a walkaround with a rental representative.
3D Collision Centers is very empathetic to the hardship that *** ****** has sustained, I wanted to discuss this with ***** and The ******** so I could at least get some type of explanation so that this complaint could be answered as accurately as possible.
***** did agree to rent a similar vehicle at a rate of $20/day however, taxes and fees were additional. ***** had the claim number and the claim representative’s name but for some reason never had pursued billing The ******** for at least the $600 that is stated in her policy. They did however run the credit card on file when the vehicle was returned. They did attempt to run it for the full amount due, but the charges were declined (***** invoice attached.) Once this complaint was investigated by Hertz, they did contact The ******** and to my knowledge it was agreed that the $600 would be paid directly to *****. Once payment is received it should then lower *** ******’ amount due to $233.28.
*** ****** stated in her complaint that everything was paid in full by a 3D employee, if this is in fact true, I am sure that he was referring to the amount due for the repairs to her vehicle. We have no way of knowing what is paid or owed on any rental contract being this is separate part of any insurance policy and has nothing to do with the property damage. The only thing that is ever shared with the repair shop is in cases certain carriers will note if the policy has rental coverage, and if so what the daily rate and policy max. This information is supplied to the repair shop for reference only to help assist with a rental reservation.
I know that *** ****** is requesting the $1234.00 check back to pay for the rental charges, but that payment was issued after her original repair estimate (less her $1,000 deductible) and was to cover the parts and labor to restore her vehicle to pre-loss condition.
I cannot speak on behalf of the rental company or her insurance carrier as to what exactly happened, but I feel that her complaint should be with ***** or possibly The ******** and not 3D Collision centers. I will add the contact information below of the people who have investigated this issue and if needed could possibly answer any questions that the BBB or *** ****** has moving forward.
I respectfully ask that there is no negative BBB rating towards 3D Collision Centers as we have no control on how ***** or The ******** conduct business and the only involvement, we had would have would have been assisting to schedule a reservation date and time for *** ****** to help make the repair process more convenient. I do sincerely hope that both parties come to some type of resolution on *** ******’ behalf.
